What an amazing experience. We went for the 1:30pm tour. The space was clean, the staff was very friendly and educational with all of their explanations. Our educational bird was Spirit; watching her eat salmon eggs out of her handlers hand while making her little squaks was so cool! Highly recommend
We enjoyed our COVID-19 conscious tour of the Alaska Raptor Center in August 2020. Pricing is inline with other attractions like this weve experienced around the United States. The animal handler was knowledgeable and personable, you could tell they really loved their job. Spirit and Sitka, the bald eagles, were great ambassadors for their species. The development staff that has been working there for 11+ years was more robotic which was our least favorite part of the tour. We felt like it was an audio-tour rather than a tour with a live-person. Overall, a great hour in the Tongass.
I have not been there but have watched shows on Discovery with Disney+ and am SO impressed with what they do. Some of the shows have brought me to tears like the one with Fuzz Lightyear, a baby eagle who had to be euthanized. The work they do is AMAZING!!!
Love the show. Keep up the good work.
This was an absolutely great place to visit. We were able to walk there from the cruise ship port. The path was relatively flat and well-marked. It was easy to get close up pictures of some amazing Raptors and the presentation was enjoyable. This was my first visit here but I would definitely come again next time. The staff was both knowledgeable and friendly.
We were very impressed by the work done here. Loved seeing bald eagles up close and personal and lived that they sheltered so many.
What an experience!! This center was an amazing, must see stop! The people are so knowledgeable and the birds there, whether destine to fly free or stay protected on site, are breathtaking, awe inspiring, and a must-see!! We meet a show stopping Snow owl, watched 27 bald eagles in a flight tunnel and many more birds safely healing, and living it up!
Very cool place, focus on education for patrons, and saving amazing aviary creatures for rerelease if possible! Give yourself some extra time here, there is tons to see and learn. I even picked a Salmon Berry to try!
I really appreciate that the facility is a working center and the staff is knowledgeable and loves what they do
The tour is very educational . There are around 20-30 birds. Just 15 mins walk from Sitka National Historic Park.
Great place but sadly only had 30 minutes on my guided tour so we didnt get to see much I would suggest at least hour minimum. Staff was eager to share their knowledge. Spirit the Bald Eagle was very impressive .
It was a really cool experience to see and learn about the raptors. They also do an anual spring release of the Eagles. It was fantastic. You can tell how much love and care are taken for these wonderful birds.
What an awesome place to visit in Sitka! The staff was very friendly and answered all of our challenging questions about the facility and the birds they have there. Definitely very informative about the raptors in Alaska. A great stop for people of all ages.
A must see. Sure, youve seen raptors at zoos, but this place is different. You feel their mission to rescue some of Gods creatures. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He took the time to educate as well as showing appreciation for our desire to learn more.
Love that they are rehabbing these bald eagles and others! Have beautiful walking trails. We also saw wild bald eagles in this area. We found it all very interesting!!
HUGE BIRDS OF PREY! Stunning, extremely close look at the bald eagles and other animals. This hospital nurses eagles that have lost the ability to fly, or can no longer fend for themselves in the wild.
Outstanding opportunity to see Eagles and Owls being rehabilitated for return to wild. Several bird releases throughout year... follow on Facebook
We loved visiting the Raptor Center. We learned so much about Eagles and rehabilitation. We were super lucky to be there at the exact right time to see them release 2 eagles back into the wild. We also lucked out and finished up tight before two giant tour buses arrived. The place filled up pretty quickly after that.We walked through the Sitka National Historical Park and then walked to the Raptor Center. After that it was an easy walk back into town and back to our cruise ship.
It was amazing to get up close to all the eagles and owls. We learned so much about them and their rehabilitation process. We found this place almost by accident and are extremely glad we went.
It was great to see the eagles up close. This is where they take in Bald Eagles that have been injured and try to rehabilitate then and set them loose again in the wild if possible. Enjoyed it throughly!
We stopped by here as part of a multi-stop cruise excursion and after the guided tours, we only got to spend about 5 minutes walking around the place. That said, what we did see was awesome and I am very sad we didnt get to spend more time there. The first thing we did was walk into an area with double-sided mirrors that had bald eagles on the other side. They told us these eagles were being rehabilitated and were in varying stages of being able to fly again. Then we went into a big room and were told a little about the place and a woman brought in a juvenile bald eagle. Outside, they had other bald eagles and hawks and owls.Highly recommended if you are into birds, but if you are coming through a cruise, Id skip some of the guided tours and just explore outside
Awesome faculty and great to see the birds in rehab.
Great place to visit loved what they are doing to protect the birds
A really nice little raptor sanctuary. All the animals are rescues that they have nursed back to health but cannot fly. You will learn a lot about the areas indigenous species. They are doing good work. If you are coming from a cruise ship I suggest you just grab a cab to it. You can walk but it will eat up some of your time.
Unique and amazing place devoted to rehabilitation of injured raptors. Goal is to release them back into the wild. Those who cannot be released become permanent residents. Flight training center where birds learn to fly again after recovering from injury is particularly impressive. Birds that would not come near each other in the wild coexist peacefully in this closed space.
Great place. We came here and the staff were very kind and informative. It is really nice to see such concerned people in this world. These people take in injured birds, help nurse them back to health, and give them a training space for flying. Those that cannot fly live in a large space with trees and a natural environment for them to live out the rest of their days. Would definitely recommend if you come to Sitka.
Awesome experience. Wonderful trail.
Lots of raptors to get up close to and admire.
Great establishment to nurture the raptors back to health and release back to the wild. They do a great thing here, its worth it to not only help their cause but to see these beautiful creatures up close and personal. Can walk here easily from the totem park and make an adventure out of your time in Sitka.
Great non-profit dedicated to the rehabilitation of area raptors. Friendly staff, moderate fee, beautiful birds from which to learn about raptors.
Brilliant! A wonderful place to visit
We enjoyed the tour to see how they are helping the eagles.
Great place. Lots of raptors on display. Good presentation. Great nature trail.
I wonderful rescue facility. I learned a great deal about the birds of the area. The exhibit was a bit smaller than I expected, however the quality was high and the paths to walk down past the raptor containment areas was very very lovely.
Great place. Been there many times with friends. There are great things to see and learn here no matter what age you are. Awes!! Great staff. Dont miss the lectures in lecture bowl. Nice two hour experience you will not forget. Has s gift shop also.
Very interesting live raptor exhibits. The place certainly is doing great work. However it isnt very big so you only get a small dose of these amazing animals.
Loved this place. Great things happening to save these animals.
Totally worth the money and walk to get there. The birds are beautiful. There are many free birds that are in the area too. Nice rehab facility inside.
Rehab site for healing injured raptors to return them to the wild! Very well planned & set up & successfully rescue many g return them to the wild! Fun to see huge bald eagles relearning to fly up close!
We really enjoyed going here & wandering around the forest!!
Center for rehabbing juvenile and adult eagles. The guides tell you about each birds specifics of why each are there. All of the ones on my visit were either hit by a vehicle or shot by hunters. The birds are large and beautiful.
Beautiful birds. Theyre doing an amazing job.
Excellent place to visit! Up close viewing of multiple species of native avian species. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly.
Nice work on protecting and restoring health to birds.
I would give it 100 stars!!! This was the highlight of our trip. Do not miss this one. And stick around for the show. You will not regret it.
Great place,
Great little find in Sitka, a lot of fun with some amazing birds!
Great outdoor exhibits
American eagles and other raptors up close and personal! Nice facility and excellent, knowledgeable staff!!
Amazing rehab center - got to see release of 2 bald eagles back into the wilderness. Absolutely the best excursion tour.
The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. The birds are diverse and well cared for.
Great place to learn about raptors. I learned something new! Staff was very knowledgeable. Operation is well run with busses and tours from the cruise ships.
This was an amazing display of what people can do to help animals.
Beautiful habitat for eagles, owls and other birds. We also saw salmon swimming up stream. Very knowledgeable, friendly, teaching staff. I would highly recommend a visit to this establishment.
Very knowledgeable staff, and a great hike.
Great place to have a close encounter with and learn about eagles, owls and other raptors.
Had a great time
It is open in the winter months. It is free too but I highly encourage you to donate though as the work they do is important. Very educational, the bird are gorgeous and work seeing.
Educational and worth while visit. Nice 30 minute walk from ships. Wonderful salmon fishery, totem/native museum and rain forest stops on the way. Great self guided alternative to the expensive ship tours! Saw two wild bald eagles eating fish on the way...
Very good place to learn and see eagles and bears
One of the most amazing experiences you can have, anywhere. This remarkable center rehabilitates injured and traumatized raptors to enable them to return to their natural habitat in the wild, or to live freely on the grounds of the center. As amazing and inspiring as the eagles, owls and falcons are, the staff and volunteers are just as superb. Worth the trip if you happen to be in Sitka or on an Alaska cruise. The memories and education last a lifetime. Great gift shop too!
A wonderful rehabilitation center for Raptors. I am very happy that they are there.
Not bad. Enthusiastic guide. Our local centre in Kent far better.
Such a magical place where they help heal the birds and give sanctuary to those no longer able to fly. The Eagles were so beautiful. Owls and other birds too and a great way to see the birds close up. The rangers do a great job highlighting several birds so the public can see and learn about them. They are Angels for sure talking care of the birds!!!
Blessings to the park people for all they do to rehabilitate these wonderful birds.
Very cool rehabilitation center. Its educational and fun.
Fascinating and moving presentation featuring rescued birds. Very informative and worth visiting.
They do great work here, and are super friendly!
Great viewing of bald eagles. Also nature walk to see salmon trying to get upstream!
An important bird rescue facility doing important work to rehabilitate these majestic injured raptors while educating the public.
The scenery was breathtaking . They did not do a demonstration when I was there.
Great way to see the birds in a natural habitat all the staaff are volunteers and the injured birds are released into the wild.
They do great b things with injured birds of all kinds, including bald eagles.
If you ever want to see raptors and understand them, this is the place. Well done presentations and displays.
Terrifically spectacular! Wet and rainy made it even better!
A wonderful place to see birds up close and learn about how they care for them.
Outstanding Raptor (including eagle) rehab center. A dont miss!
They have great information on the animals and the employees are so respectful and nice they were also very helpful if you have any questions
Bird hospital and rehab center for injured Alaskan birds.
Not to be missed. The experience of getting up close to these injured and disabled raptors and seeing the care and work done to help them recover or make their lives easier was inspiring.
They do a wonderful job in taking care of birds that cant be returned to the wild or taking care of the birds to return to the wild
Very informative and many different kinds of birds to see
Very cool place. Down the trail there is a stream behind this place and the salmon were in spawning season. I have never seen so many fish in my life in one spot.
Wonderful experience. learned a lot here. safe place for these birds of prey to heal
They do good work and its a great way to see beautiful birds up close.
Its an okay place to visit. Can learn about raotors. Nothing extraordinary, but not bad.
They gave a talk while holding a 4 year old Eagle who is blind in one eye & has condition in other eye, making it impossible to return that bird to the wild. Having the bird there enhanced the talk by a lot, imo. They had lots of shirts, jackets, everything youd expect to find there. It serves a fine purpose of returning health to eagles & other birds involved in accidents, crashes, etc.Definitely worth the stop.
Gorgeous place and magnificent birds of prey.
Amazing place doing great things!
Fantastic raptor rehibilatation center!
Go see the eagles and owls and good works they are doing
Very informative, lots of success stories with the rescue and rehab of eagles
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Is a must see place if you love eagles and other birds of prey.
