I wonderful place to visit . went there just to walk the grounds with my granddaughter. The restaurant is closed during Covid. The shop is open food can be ordered with curb side pick up. Beautiful grounds, definitely a place to go
Beautiful open space. Maple syrup was delicious and sheep were cute! We only did the small trail around the sheep farm so not sure if there was more to explore! This is a locals favorite
Although the buildings are all shut for the pandemic, this place is not to be missed! Stunning 1400 acres of farmland, woodlands with fantastic views if Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks, and the green mountains. Staff on hand at the gift shop extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. Miles and miles of well maintained walking trails. We did shy of 6 miles with much more to go! All they ask is a donation, if you are able.
This place was amazing. Friendly animals (still dangerous), beautiful gardens and awesome service. We walked from the welcome center to the formal garden at the Inn, and back. If you’re out of shape like us I wouldn’t recommend it- drive there haha. However, the peaceful 90 minute round trip walk was still worth it.
Wonderful service and food quality is superb. Seated outdoors in a well appointed tent (indoor is avail). definitely recommend!
Shelburne Farms is a nonprofit education center for sustainability, 1,400 acres (570 ha) working farm, and National Historic Landmark on the shores of Lake Champlain in Shelburne, Vermont. The property is nationally significant as a well-preserved example of a Gilded Age ornamental farm, developed in the late 19th century with architecture by Robert Henderson Robertson and landscaping by Frederick Law Olmsted.
Such a beautiful place... lots of open spaces and trails to walk. Plenty of great views and places to explore. If you are visiting Vermont, this is definitely something you want to schedule on your itinerary.
....even during a pandemic, a great place to visit...the walking paths are great and the views spectacular....
Beautiful hiking trails through fields, woods, and beside the bay.
Great place to walk/hike with beautiful backdrops.
Beautiful place to visit. Great for kids as there is a petting zoo, cheese tasting. They have a food cart which had a few snack options which was nice too. You could also stay at their Inn which will let you take your car into the farms. If you are an external visitor you will need to use their shuttle service.
Richest hidden gem in all of Burlington! Lots of walking necessary, but oh, the neat places and the stellar views! Truly amazing.
Nice site to see. Wish wed been there prior to covid, so we could have seen more activity and gone in the buildings.
Really beautiful and picturesque. There are some farm animals you could see upclose and several nice trails to walk.
Nice. All closed. You can do pick-up and walk the farm. Nothing open. No restrooms open.
Beautiful walkways. Right on lake Champlain. No public bathroom available.
This is not just any farm tour. A National historic landmark 1400 acres and, an hour long tour of Shelburne Farms was worth the money. A visit to the cheese factory and at the end cheese tasting was a welcoming treat. Love the views on the property. Overlook Lake Champlain was gorgeous and romantic. The grounds, animals, sheep & cows spread out. On a lush green land. The end of the tour got to taste their famous cheese with the hot red pepper jam from SideHill Farm is awesome. Kid friendly place for the whole family. The inn is an added family getaway.
Beautiful place, but no toilet facilities. We had to cut our vist short.
Such a gorgeous estate, you will not want to miss a visit here! You can plan eating out for dinner or brunch here, go visit the barn animals where kids are welcome to pet sheep etc., or just go for a walk on the beautiful trails. Starting November 1 they allow dogs on leash on the property. Once the busy season is on dogs are not allowed. There are many trails to take into the woods, to a barn, to the lake, etc. You will not be bored. Plenty of parking and they often have cool events and horse drawn tractor rides. I have also seen signs of cross country skiing as well. I never tire of this bucolic place and feel lucky that it is open to the public.
Perfect spot for photography besides its amazing beauty
Beautiful farm with cattle, walking trails, a farm store and more! We didnt get to see too much but look forward to future visits!
Beautiful grounds to explore with miles to walk at no charge
Such wonderful grounds, views and people.
I received a breakfast box from these folks as a gift and everything about it is lovely - the packaging, the cheese, the handwritten note... just a great job all around. Highly recommend!
Store orders at front door Covid beautiful place love it!
Family oriented place, great service, courteous personnel, take the trolley ride to walk you through the farm, received good information on how cheese, bread and other goods are manufactured, do not miss the boutique at the entry for cheese, farm products or souvenirs can be bought, big free parking lot available, all personnel is very friendly,
An amazing place to visit with wonderful staff, great hiking trails and delicious food. We would definitely come back and visit again and again!
Really cool farm. Nice scenic hikes
One of my favorite places in the state. The walking trails are well maintained, and the views are gorgeous. The old barn, Inn, and coach house are remarkable set into the rolling hills of the property. During the off-season, you can bring your dogs hear, and do some snowshoeing too. Great year round entertainment
Such a beautiful place. A gem in my own backyard! Would definitely visit again.
You can easily spend half the day here. The guide was knowledgable. The Inn has a beautiful view. Restaurant staff were wonderful and so was the food.
Great for children with the animals at the barn. Miles of excellent groomed walking trails. Spectacular grounds, both scenery, and architecture.
Beautiful farm, good for walking and buying fresh veggies, cheese, maple syrup
Great for young kids. Free cheese samples. Lots of opportunities to interact with the animals and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We loved it!
An amazing 1400 acre farm that offer guded tours or you can explore it yourself. Lots of farm animals on site from chickens, cows, sheep, lambs, goats and pigs. They offer viewing demonstration such as milking cows and much more. The views while walking along the trails are absolutely AMAZING especially when you make it to the coast line.
Beautiful grounds to take a stroll. Make sure you go up to Lone Tree Hill as thats where you get a beautiful view of the lake.
We spent the most wonderful day here! I loved seeing the animals and the views are just beautiful. I went in the fall and it was just gorgeous. Allot a few hours because I could have stayed all day!
Went for the Vermont Cheesemakers festival. Nice event on Shelbourne farms. Beautiful sitting. Enjoyable afternoon tasting gourmet foods, cheese, wine, beer and spirits. On the shore of lake Champlain.
Beautiful place, with friendly staff. Great time for children and adults.
Large grass fields but not really much sightseeing other than green, blue sky and cows!
This is a great place to take kids! We spent the whole morning here and still didnt see everything. There are some packed gravel walking trails that are fine for strollers. We walked out to the barn area and rode the wagon back. The bakery in the farm area was a welcome surprise with French pastries that tasted like the ones in France! We loved the chicken parade and checking the coop for eggs and getting to milk the cow. The play areas for kids are awesome and there are so many hands on learning displays all over. We had lunch at the farm cart and the food was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend a visit here with the whole family! You could easily spend the whole day here and not get bored.
So vast. Had no idea what we were getting into. The whispie meadows were entrancing.
Absolutely a must-visit place in Vermont.Family-friendly with logs of activities to try: milking a cow, petting sheep, cheese-making tours, wine & cheese pairing, shopping their lovely products- jams, maple syrup, trinkets, souvenirs. Its picturesque farm-estate.
The view from the top of lone tree hill is my happy place. Amazing place to spend a day in solitude!
It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. Absolutely stunning and a must visit if you’re I town. Drive or walk through the farm and enjoy the scenic view. The lake looks gorgeous from here ️
We had an awesome day at the farm. We learned so much about how cheddar cheese is made. We did a tasting and bought some cheese to take home. We visited the animals and I had fun holding Pearl the chicken. We had a great lunch made from farm products. Try the lamb pastrami sandwich. The bacon cheeseburger was so yummy. Also there is a bakery that makes incredible croissants.
I visited them in college for a school project. I loved their educational tours and their beautiful scenery. They also make the best cheese!
Well worth the general entry fee. The staff are all clearly happy with what they do and willing to answer any questions visitors have.
Such an amazing place to hang out
Shelburne Farms is magical. First of all, its pretty cheap to get in. Its less than $10 per person to spend an entire day here. Once you get your ticket, you can walk to the farm or get transported by a tractor. Since the property is HUGE, Id wait to be transported.Once youre at the massive historic farm that looks more like a castle, youll be entertained for hours. They have chickens, rabbits, cows, donkeys, horses, sheep...so many animals that you can pet. They have programming throughout the day. Our daughter loved the chicken egg hunting!Theres a farm-to-table food truck there every day serving burgers, sandwiches, etc.In the back of the property is the inn, which is beautiful.Theres a general store at the entrance/exit that sells jams, honey, and cheese. THE CHEESE! It is AMAZING! Eat all the free samples plus more.
This is a beautiful farm with plenty of space to walk, experience, and learn.
Great place to stroll and drink in the scenery.
Beautiful grounds with lovely views. Try the cookies from the bakery while you are there.
Wonderful place for families of all ages!
Great place for kids and a long walk
Enjoyed delicious cocktails and strolling the grounds! Wonderful, helpful staff!
Wonderful place to walk around, enjoy the relaxing time in the park, many events for kids with animals. Taking tracker(shuttle) was also great fun. Having drinks at shelburn farm watching the beautiful sunset was super cool. I appreciate my friends who took me here. We had such great time here.
A stunningly beautiful and expansive property, Shelburne Farms is an absolute staple of the region and a must-visit site for both locals and tourists alike. From the gorgeous views overlooking the lake, to the hilltop vistas of the green mountains, the small bakery and various other hidden gems, Shelburne Farms is a fantastic spot to spend a day walking around - even if just to take in the meticulously maintained grounds.
We are members and go there often. It is a lovely place to walk... a long walk through winding paths to the lake and back. There is a nice gift shop too.
Amazing oatmeal cookies and it has fresh bread ! Super kid friendly
The grounds, inn, and gardens are breath-taking! The view of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks from the gardens are absolutely gorgeous! The tours at 10:30, 12:30, and 2:30 are fantastic! Such a great way to see the farm, learn about the history, and learn about their sustainable education programs. Our tour guide, Pat, was extremely knowledgeable about each aspect of the farms current endeavors and its history in the Vanderbilt/Webb family.
Beautiful for a late October hike! lots of trails --walking along the lake, shaded forests and rolling fields with sheep. the historic and cultural landmarks scattered along the way add to the enjoyment.
We spent two hours here just as a driving break with my young family of 5, but we could have definitely spent a whole day here! Very cool place to visit.
A wonderful experience. Visit the site, take a tour or stay overnight. Beautiful manor house overlooking the Adirondack mountains of New York across Lake Champlain. I have stayed in the manor house and cabins. Both great accommodations. Food and service are excellent.
Our experience was unfriendly. We here some good things about this place and the experience. The grounds were well kept. The last at the ticket booth was not very friendly or helpful. I realized she probably was asked there same questions all day and they had signs with all the information but she was grumpy. Maybe she was just having a bad morning as it was only about 10 after opening. Any how went into the visitors center and while more helpful not to us but others, they too were very short with the answers or comments. We decided not to take this experience hoping to be able to come back at a later time and maybe have everyone in a better mood. There was plenty of parking and the cost seemed to range from$8 to $14 depending on what you wanted too do. There was a cost too enter the grounds. Dogs are not allowed. There were no student discounts at the farms but there are huge discounts at the museum.
Wow! Dining in history. Come hungry for dinner. Food was amazing, but try get there before dark so you can enjoy the sights and not rely on headlights to read direction signs. A must stop if you are in the Burlington area.
Absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful views everywhere. Obvious that there is much care into the maintenance of this vast property. What a wonderful place. I look forward to returning next year.
Great to walk to see inn and lake. The farm is great learning experience with hands on animals for children. I take my grandkids to this place every time they come to visit.
Beautiful grounds. Good public access. Great place to run and visit with family.
This was a lovely place to visit for the afternoon! We got see how a cow is milked, have some real farm fresh food, pet some happy animals, and just enjoy the beautiful Vermont late summer weather. Would highly recommend!
A slight rain in the morning meant a small group. The farm crew made us feel like VIPs. Our child was engaged and learning. We were, too. Turned out to be the best choice to go despite the drizzle.
Beautifully maintained, stunning views and nice hikes.
Very friendly staff, an amazing place for young kids. Lots of animals - sheep, chickens, turkey, rabbit and few more. We saw cow milking, which was a new experience. Cheese factory tour was knowledge
A beautiful property with lots to see and do. This is a great place to take a walk or hike one the many trails. Views of the lake from the ornamental gardens are great and their is wonderful food at the bakery and farm store.
Beautiful place to take a walk!
The farm is super big.. We covered just the farm and cheese making. its super fun for kids with very friendly staff
Really nice walking area, good cheese and jam in the store
I absolutely love this place. The trails are amazing to walk, the food at the inn is delicious, and the environment at the farm barn is so fun. I have taken a number of out of town family members here and frequently take my 3 year old and he doesnt seem to get tired of it. There is also food at the farmbarn, the bakery is good, though sometimes the bottoms of the cookies get a little burnt, and the farm cart is tasty though expensive. There are amazing places to plan to have a picnic all over the property.
Fun family spot! Loved the animals, cheese and trails!
Beautiful place, wonderful staff. Interesting history w/ a great mission for modern farming.
Gorgeous place! Quintessential Vermont. If you are a tourist visiting, this should definitely be one of your stops!
Great place to bring your kids for a few hours. To check out various farm animals and milk the cow Brewer!!! See how cheese is made and to sample the yummy cheese!!!! Awesome gift shop you gotta try the Adventures in Granolas they sell there look for the farm display!!! And amazing views that are even better in the fall!!!!
Excellent and fun place for kids to explore and have fun with farm animals
Great walk beautiful views
Best place in Vermont to walk, buy bread and cheese, and pet lambs.
Absolutely fantastic experience for adults as well as kids. Farm hands were knowledgeable, nice and really enjoyed what they did. Kids get to chase chickens, milk a cow, brush and pet calves and donkeys, and there are plenty of trails to walk.
Amazing walks breathtaking views of the mountains and Lake Champlain.
This is a beautiful and outstanding working farm with so many programs going on.I took the cheese tour which showed us all the steps of making their famous cheeses, plus seeing the cows and babies and milking operation.I love how they are committed to sustainable humane clean agriculture and will now buy their products. The farm barn is a beautiful incredible building!
Got there early to beat the educational group crowd. Extremely tranquil, animals are very used to people and friendly and approachable. Facilities were very clean, staff was very nice. All around a great experience!
Very quaint little town with many artists shops, book stores, restaurants, pubs. School for swedish weaving.
Wonderfully presented; I had a lot of fun playing with the sheep and milking a cow.
This is a wonderful place to take walks while enjoying the scenery. You should go, and then go again!
Seeing the Brown Swiss cows was a treat; plus the people in the cheese house were very good at explaining the cheese making process. Best for kids/families.
Great place to visit for a casual walk or hike, take in a quick healthy bite as well as visit some of the awesome exhibits.
Have been going to Shelburne Farms for probably 20 years. Wonderful outing for out-of-town guests....and their cheeses are fabulous!
Great intro into the grand property of the gentleman farmer late 1800s. Working dairy, nonprofit educational mission. Great for young and old.
This place was amazing. Saw the chicken parade, lessened good they make cheese, I milked a cow, it was just incredible. Cant wait to come back with children!
