Most of the buildings are closed for remodeling but, it is a beautifully kept landscape. The building hold real historic value. It is really open and easily accessible with a stroller.

What a great place to visit! Let me say this right away, give yourself plenty of time. Please plan on spending the day at the Shelburne Museum. If you can, take 2 days. There really is so much there to take in, a half-day will not do it justice.For me, the Ticonderoga was the highlight. 200 feet of gorgeous ship, a side-wheeler that saw duty in Lake Champlain.The shop is stunning with marvelous woodwork on all levels. The various lounge and dining areas give you the feel of a swanky hotel and made feel like I was on the Titanic at times.There is no danger of the Ticonderoga sinking however. It sits on dry land, a full 2 miles from the beautiful Lake Champlain that it once cruised. Right after going aboard the vessel, take a few minutes to enjoy the video that explains how the Ticonderoga wound up on dry ground, 2 miles from the lake. Fascinating!Make sure you see the long, tunnel-shaped circus building and see thousands of miniature carved and painted figures that make up a circus scene. Of course you wont be able to miss the 1/12 scale circus parade carved over a period of many years. This part of the museum is a study in skill, artistic ability and incredible dedication.Enjoy!

So awesome! I went there as an Elementary school trip years ago. So much to see! Beautiful and interesting. Something for everyone.

My wife and were excited for this trip and to see all the exhibits. We were stunned when we found 95 % of them closed. Two hours up and back fora walk around. I believe 4 buildings were open. This should have CLEARLY BEEN STATED ON THE WEBSITE. We would not have made the trip. An extreme disappointment.

I loved that you were able to experience history from all over the state of VT in one location. We spent the whole day walking around outside, in and out these educational structures. The building where you buy your ticket, is also a store. I bought a beautiful fleece walking coat and a scarf while there. It is worth the time to browse through for gift ideas or for yourself! Be sure to check their hours of operation, since the actual historical structures are closed during the winter.

If I lived here I would definitely be a member. A marvelous venue to visit once or repeatedly. From the covered bridge to the Ticonderoga paddle ship, from the historic buildings to the modern museum there are exhibits, collections and galleries to appeal to everyone. Awesome to do with a family although the food is a bit pricey. We just had a snack to keep us fueled. Situated in the lovely town of Shelburne, the Shelburne Museum should be on everyone’s to do list.

This can take and should take two days. So many things to see in a pastoral sitting weather was perfect. Well worth the effort. Cant spend two days? Then arrive early and stay late, you wont be disappointed. Notice the picture of the stage coach. Is that coach class seating on top?

Great place to visit. The collections were great and they have a steamship!My son is a budding photographer and found so many interesting things to photograph.The buildings and collections are wonderfully preserved. I highly recommend visiting.

Very interesting place with a number of art exhibits on-site. Most of the buildings were closed for the season, but there were still more than enough sights and sounds to keep the place interesting

What an amazing place this is. If you want to know a lot about Vermont and its beginnings you want to make a visit there. The place is huge with so many preserved buildings and Vermont artifacts. There is a circus exhibition that is simply amazing and an old train and station. One day is not enough to cover all that is there. It is expensive to get in but worth the price.

Incredible museum housing unique collections of everything imaginable: carousel animals, dolls, sleighs, goblets, glass canes, quilts, et al. all housed in historic buildings among beautiful landscaping. Well worth the price of admission.

What a cool place! The only complaint I have is that it was a lot of walking on a hot day, resulting in grumpy kids. But the art, history, beauty of this museum is incredible! Something for everyone from a train and a ship to a covered bridge to art made of money.!!

We stopped here just by chance as we saw a boat on land where it did not seem to belong. There is so much to see here so plan to spend a good part of the day. You really need to take your time as there are things to see every where. We took sometime to enjoy one of the artistic beaches on a sunny day.

The museum’s investment in safety and signage to protect the health of visitors was appreciated. I had a carefree and beautiful visit.

Fantastic gem of a museum with multiple buildings and exhibits sprawled over beautiful grounds. Was amazed at some of the art on hand that would normally be found in a big city museum. Great place to visit on a beautiful day and plenty of staff to interact with and share their extensive knowledge!

Absolutely incredible place for history loving people. An awesome round barn, real steamship, and so many carriages and antique stuff it took us 2 days to get through it and I am sure we didn’t see it all. Definitely get the 2 day pass!

Shelburne museum is a must if you are in Burlington area. Every building in this open air museum has its own exhibition. Have been there many years ago and every time its wonderful.

25 bucks gets you access to 40+ acres of park for 48 hours. Well worth it. Great art collection including Monet, Manet, a couple of Rembrandts understudies (I had to double check the artist), a bunch of old timey storefronts including a general store, medical facilities, blacksmith, and a print shop that is still in use. Theres also a cool old steam boat, train and station, and lighthouse that was relocated to the park. All are open to the public and you can walk through them.The grounds are large and well kept. Its pleasant to stroll through and great for kids. They have a couple of artsy workshops to keep the kids busy with creating their own art with a guide. In the lighthouse there is air conditioning, places to charge your devices, and couches to sit on if you need a moment. There are bathrooms scattered all over. Also, I believe a good portion of the park is wheelchair accessible, as it has paved paths to all the exhibits. They also have a little shuttle you can hop on and off for free if you have mobility issues.If you havent gone yet, I highly recommend it. Bring a camera and water. There is a snack bar with sandwiches, cold drinks, coffee, and tea. They also sell art by local artists in the gift shop.If youre from New Jersey, do check out the duck decoy museum, as they have a cool old wooden sneakbox boat and of course, beautiful painted decoys.The guy in the red, white, and blue hat is not a beautiful sculpture, thats just some guy that looks like a beautiful sculpture.

The museum was not fully open for the season when we came. However the visit was fabulous. Very nice exhibition and great walk between the different buildings. Absolutely recommend

Great museum. Very large grounds, lots of great exhibits. Bring water, it is only available in the cafe, no fountains.

Holy cow! So much to see!Admission includes a second day ... plan to use it. We were there for nearly two full days and there were exhibits we skipped.The highlight was definitely the steamship Ticonderoga. We explored it ourselves on the first day and were advised to take the tour, so we did on the second day. I second the advice - take the tour!The grounds are large enough that they have shuttle buses on a loop.We had lunch in the cafe (good food, but not cheap). There are many places that would make for a wonderful picnic spot (I saw no indication that you couldnt pack a bag lunch).

We spent a whole day here. It was a marvellous museum. Lots of old carriages, a train, a paddlesteamer, houses, shops, very interesting place.

Tons of space to walk around. Beautiful grounds, varied exhibits, good discount for the locals. Worth a visit.

Great for kids, carousel, train car and steam boat were a hit. Pro tip: after 3 PM is half price admission, kids under 5 are free.

Enjoyed our visit. There is so much to see and do. The guides are extremely knowledgable and friendly. The loom shop no longer have professional staff which was disappointing. The quilts were fabulous. The stencil house, the meticulous restoration work demonstrates the care taken on the projects. The Degas room words can not Express how it felt to be there. To be in the same room with Monets and Rembrandt you must go to experience the large close spectacular apartment.

If you love Americana, American History and American folk and decorative arts then a day spent at this museum is a very well spent day. Indeed, try to allocate 4-6 hours to your visit. The museum understands this as a ticket is good for two consecutive days. If possible plan your visit to coincide with good weather as a visit here is very much a walking tour spread across some 40+ beautifully landscaped acres. Should your feet grow weary you can always take one of the shuttles that circulate the grounds.

A great place to discover the past. We stayed 3 hours and didnt fave time to see it all. Plenty of benches under trees to relax, enjoy the gardens and all the houses with collections.

10/2019 visit. What an amazing plethora of historical artifacts and sites to view. We enjoyed every inch of this place and theres plenty to see, from the duck decoy exhibits, the miniature circus, to the Tiacondaroga Paddlewheel boat, carriages, general store, etc etc. ️️️

Nice exhibits, beautiful walk around the grounds. Staff was friendly and helpful. When we went they had decorated for Christmas.

Luscious land and beautiful scenery adds to this classic outdoor museum from 1900. Stationary Ferry and doll house are a must see. Worth the entrance fee!

Interesting museum! Only a few buildings open in the winter. If going in the winter, dont bring the kids as only the painting and art exhibits are open.

Beautiful Grounds

Make sure you check the Covid-19 regulations before planning a trip to the Shelburne Museum. We are from Maine and were told our county had too many active cases, if 11 is too many for us to enter I am not sure how anyone can visit.

Visited yesterday: a couple of buildings are open during October-May.The highlight was an expert introduction to the American paintings in the Webb museum by Karen, who was working there. She was incredibly generous with her time and knowledge and we came away thrilled by the many insights she gave us. Thank you Karen!The photographic exhibit was also powerful and captivating and altogether, the visit which took us 2 hours, was well worth the $10 admission.Hope to be back some day...

Wonderful place for adults and children as there is so much open space to run and play. The grounds include a merry go round to ride, a cafeteria for food, ( or bring your own picnic), an old train to walk through, a 4 level steamboat to explore, an old schoolhouse, general store, jail, old fashion toys to see, horse carriages, and of course our favorite, the Owl cottage for kids to play in with many toys!

Its a beautiful and interesting place, with surreal collections! We took 2 days for us to visit. Tottaly worth it! Would do it all again...

I almost passed this museum by, turned around and came back. Possibly the most interesting collection of different types of history I have ever seen. Expect to spend two days to see it all. The circus collection was the most interesting to me. If you have a chance, do not pass this by.

First class art, architecture, history and culture museum. A little of everything here, from Monet and Rembrant to horse drawn cartridges and a historic ship. Too much to see in just one visit!

At first I was surprised at the regular admission cost of $25, $23 for seniors. But then I found out there were at least 39 exhibition buildings to check out. PLUS the ticket is also good for a second consecutive day!!!The round barn was filled with old sleighs and carriages. Several buildings held magnificent artworks, including Monets, Degas and Manets.The steamship, Ticonderoga, was FABULOUS!!! An old schoolhouse, and church, stores and homes, a covered bridge, lighthouse, carousel, train and train station, etc... I just couldnt make it through it all in one day!There is a cafe on grounds for food. A shuttle comes around to various stops periodically if you want it or need it. Most of the buildings are handicap-accessible. Magnificent grounds and set up. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Its a gem of a museum for young and old alike near Burlington that I HIGHLY recommend!

This is a great place to visit--for adults and kids alike. Many items of historical and cultural significance--particularly to Vermont. The steamship (and the story of how it got there!) and the blacksmiths shop are definite standouts. The museum often hosts themed art exhibits, which change frequently. Be aware: there are many buildings spread out over the large campus. A shuttle provides transport for less robust walkers, and wheelchairs are available. Many kid-friendly activities, including an annual Halloween festival, and a summer concert series. Free parking and friendly staff complement the beauty of this unique Vermont destination! Well worth a trip!

Great walk about that too the whole day. We could have brought a picnic with us yet we went n tailgated on our truck.

I love historical stuff. So many well trained historian in site to answer question and to perform the duties of those time such as blacksmith and gunsmith.

Fascinating slice of early 20th Century Americana. There is a very eclectic collection of interesting buildings, boats and other surprises that were located onto this sprawling acreage. Do not come in a hurry, there is a ton to see.

The museum is a extra special location for all the family.Every exbihit is gaw dropping and for me (ti the paddle steamer outstanding a treasure to see a 1923 steamer in all its splender)Very good cafe on site and toilets.Make plenty of time for this location as 4 hrs is not enough need at least min 1 day.SHMO

Our visit was in March before most of the buildings are open but it was still worth the time, especially the Webb gallery of American painters. Lots of interesting paintings well displayed and the info tags are really great. I learned a lot. And the gift shop is actually very cool with lots of great stuff. Looking forward to going back when all of the buildings are open

Charming and surprisingly engaging museum. Showcases a range of buildings and artefacts from around New England. Perfectly presented with some real surprises, such as the collection of circus models which is a real treat. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable - a must visit.

I mean its really cool seeing some of the classic stuff its great and because its so big walking is great! This place is a two day thing for sure. Just wow for real and the two shops are super cool with the stuff. The boat what a treat for the eyes! Its a must see for sure.

Very well maintained, thorough. Monet, Manet, and Degas was a surprise to find.

If you love history and old buildings this is the place to go. Is amazing what the Uber rich can collect and do with their excess money. The connections are impressive, the grounds are immaculate. You can spend several days looking at everything. Highly recommend spending some time here when you are near by.

Great place to visit when in NW Vermont, spent two afternoons with so much to see.

Lots of interesting sites, old houses, steam locomotive and a boat. To see everything you must reserve at least 4 hours. The ticket for $25 is good for two days. If you come after 3pm the rate goes down from $25 to $15, but its valid for one day only.

Well-worth the cost on an expansive facility. Its like an art gallery, living museum, and exhibition all in one. I recommend going here multiple times to fully appreciate the individual aspects and things on display. If youre in Vermont (where the main attraction is Bernie Sanders house) and want to go somewhere else, this is a must

Great fun on a beautiful day!

Bewildering variety of stuff. Key for me were the wonderful steam engine and luxe passenger coach with incredible replica station with the most fantastic potbelly stoves. But theres a ton of other things for all interests. More than a single day can be spent here!

Love this place, just cant get enough of all the beautiful things. Thankful that I am able to view them all. You need 2 days to see everything. Well worth the money.

Great facility! Visited and toured several years ago. Visited this summer, opted not to pay the rather pricey admission, as had seen most of the exhibits before. Worth the first visit (which I recall as a bit cheaper), but not for a repeat.

Such a delightful family destination. This collection of buildings, grounds, and artifacts is amazing. You are assured of finding something to fascinate everyone in your group. The restored steam boat Ticonderoga is a must see. I felt as though I walked back a century.

Wow... There is so much to see here. We walked around for 4 hours and still didnt see everything. There are so many unique collections in various interesting locations and everything is so thoughtfully presented and displayed. Its well worth the price of admission.

Great for all humans. They have everything here, in abundance. Unlike any place Ive ever been, lovely buildings and flowers and collections and art. We go every year and never run out of things to see. Quilts in particular, and circus paraphernalia are our faves. Go now.
