Playin Hooky Fishing Charters

Captain Dave was very knowledgeable about fishing on Lake Michigan and made excellent choices to make it a memorable morning. When the fish were not biting, we moved to another location where we ended up pulling in 8 fish - five beautiful rainbow trout, and 3 king salmon. The captain and first mate made excellent conversation and it was just a fun morning. Time flies when you are having fun!

AWESOME day on the water yesterday with Playin Hooky Charters and Captain Dave Lutze! He definitely knows how to put you on the BIG ones! Everybody in the boat caught fish, had a ton of fun, and I landed my biggest Lake Trout ever!! I do a lot of fishing myself and I wouldnt recommend anybody other than Playin Hooky if youre looking to have a lot of fun, and catch a bunch of BIG fish while doing so!Thanks again Capt. Dave! We all had a blast!!

Yet another amazing fishing trip/experience for the books for my family and myself! Captain David and his crewman, Jake, have never let us down on catching some nice sized fish. Both my husband and I caught our biggest fish in our history of fishing tonight and we are beyond ecstatic. My in laws also caught their biggest fish charter fishing tonight, so it’s definitely a bitter sweet moment for all of us to take in! Couldn’t have asked for better company on the boat, better weather and fish on the lines. Definitely will be back for another outing this summer and years to come!

I have known Captain David for many years and he comes with the perfect personality for manning his own charter boat. But ultimately him and his first mate put us in fish. Our crew of 5 that joined Playing Hooky for a afternoon of fishing was not disappointed. All of us had several opportunities reeling in fish and we came home with a nice cooler full of fish. Thanks David and Chris for a perfect day of fishing. HIGHLY Recommended.

We had a great time. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the fish were biting. My family had a blast with Captain Dave and 1st mate Mitch! Great guys!! They worked hard to ensure we had a memorable experience. My 15 year old son reeled in a 10lb rainbow trout. Beautiful beast! We caught a few different kinds of fish. These guys took care of everything for us. We were with a large crowd and they got another boat. All had a great time!! I would highly recommend Playin Hooky! Dave truly is a genuine, laid back guy. Easy to talk too and a very knowledgeable fisherman. Thanks Captain Dave for a perfect day!

Shout out to captain Dave and first mate Jake these guys are very knowledgeable and personable. Spent Father’s Day morning fishing with them, had a great time. They got us in the fish and we put them in the cooler, truest enjoyed our trip on the playing hooky vessel great way to spend the day! Give them a call they will set you up for a fun day on the water. Thanks again guys.

There were 6 of us on a 5 hour schedule and we did not catch a single fish. I understand that some days theres just no fish biting, but I do feel that the captain and first mate could have made a better effort and changed up some tactics to help us get some fish. I found it odd that even after the first mate made a comment about how rainbow lures hasnt been working for them, he still continued using the same lure for us. At no point did they change the lure or change locations. It was a very simple boat ride and we didnt go far. This was a bad experience for me.

I’ve been fishing with Captain Dave the past 15+ years on Lake Michigan and highly recommend him for your next trout and salmon trip! He runs a beautiful Chris Craft with all the best well maintained gear you need for a successful trip. Dave is very passionate about fishing, he will answer all questions/educate you, make sure he does everything possible to be sure you have a great trip and most importantly catch fish! There’s nothing but complete professionalism with Captain Dave, just go to his page and view all the informational videos he’s shared and great fishing footage too! You’re getting the best of the best when you book with Captain Dave and Playin’ Hooky! You’ll be hooked!

Captain was great and mate was great too for talking. Just sat in same spot I thought and the reason of 5 hours with no fish at all. Maybe give another chance but no way spending that much for just a boat ride. Or atleast offer people half off to go again if no fish what so ever.

I would like to say thank you Dave! This man is so knowledgeable he will do his damndest to put you on fish! He is knowledgeable and will make sure he and his first mate explain to you the process of what is going on. It was really cool. OTHER charters I have been on told you to show up do as they told you and that was it. It was just a job to them. Dave on the other hand with Playing Hooky Charter they want you to know everything and experience all that there is to experience. ASK questions they will say often.I will not go with another charter as long as Dave is the Captain. You can not beat the knowledge and the gorgeous view that you see along with catching fish!

Captain Dave crushed it and gave us an awesome trip (and on short notice)! I enjoyed the fishing as much as experiencing his passion for the craft and ensuring everyone had a great time (he had some great jokes)! Because he’s a local, I found him to be very knowledgeable and took us to some great spots. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking to book a trip in the area.

Great time was had by all! We caught lots of fish, even a big king! Awesome day shared with friends. Captain Dave and 1st mate Chris were both very knowledgeable, helpful, competent and successful at making sure that we found fish and caught fish. They even cleaned them for us. Now thats a full-service operation! 5 stars.

We had a great time out on Lake Michigan. The crew was super knowledgeable and made the trip incredibly enjoyable. We had fun catching some nice size fish and we will definitely use Playin Hooky Fishing Charter again!

Capt Dave is one of the best. Great guy to fish with, always makes things fun and is very knowledgeable. I’ve had the pleasure of fishing with Dave since college and It’s always been a blast. Even if it’s a slow day it’s still a lot of fun. Dave will find the fish. I can’t wait to get back on the water with Dave. FISH ON!!!!!

Was a beautiful day on Lake Michigan! The fish were slow to bite but Jake and Dave were very positive and made our trip fun!! We would definitely go on charter with them again!

Had a great time! Captain Dave and first mate Chris treated us to a great fishing trip. He the found the fish, made sure the hook was set and we got them in the boat! I caught a 23 pound salmon and had a blast. Make sure to give Playin Hooky a call!! You will not be disappointed!

Wonderful work by both the captain and first mate. Both are very knowledgeable in their profession and I would strongly recommend using Playin’ Hooky in the future to anyone, friends and family alike.

I have been on 2 charters with the Playin’ Hooky crew and it has been an absolute pleasure both times. Dave and Chris are very good at what they do and will be just as excited as you will be to catch the fish. Highly recommend using them if you are considering doing a charter.

With no one in our group having any experience with trolling on the open water, Dave and his first mate Neil took 3 of us out for a fully entertaining 5 hours where we saw and learned the process, and each got the thrill of reeling in a big king salmon! Hats off to Dave for coming through with the perfect outing on the Playin Hooky! Way cool!!

I loved it !!️It was so fun and David was soooo nice. I love how David helped me catch my FIRST fish. He is so patient and kind. I’m very confident he’s going to make you laugh . - Alanah Age 11

Had a great time fishing with captain Dave! Caught a bunch of fish and the camaraderie couldnt be beat. Thanks for the great time!

Awesome trip! We had a good time the captain was very involved and the first mate was very helpful and fun!

Captain Dave put us on some good fish (16 total), he really knows what he is doing on Lake Michigan. If you want to catch some fish, book with Playin Hooky. The boat is large and smooth. I highly recommend

Great guy to take you out. Easy to talk with willing to work har dto get you a trip worth going on. The fish always have their own plan but we got quality over quantity.

Awesome trip with Playin’ Hookey! Professional, experienced and passionate. Dave and his first mate Chris hooked us up on a boat load of fish and an unforgettable experience!

My brother, father and I hired Playin Hooky to target salmon and trout on Lake Michigan out of Sheboygan. We were not in the least disappointed. David and his mate put us on fish and kept us entertained. The boat is very comfortable, clean and smooth (coming from a group who has a history of motion sickness.) I strongly recommend fishing with Playin Hooky. I have been with other Charters out of Sheboygan in the past, but this was the best experience. I will be Playin Hooky again!Disclaimer, you cant always make the fish bite, but it is clear David will do everything in his power to put you on fish.

Captain is Dave is great! A group of five drove up from Chicago and he put us on the fish! I highly recommend booking a trip with Playin’ Hooky and Captain Dave!

Dave is an awesome captain with tons of experience on Lake Michigan. Hes got a great boat and you will be sure to have a ton of fun fishing with him!

We were put on big fish instantly! Great guys who know what they’re doing.

Captain Dave put us on the fish today! Today’s catch was mostly rainbows and one coho. We had a blast on the boat, 10 out of 10 would fish with Playin’ Hooky again!

Dave is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. Caught some nice fish and had a great time on the water.

Very well maintained boat and equipment. Captain Dave is very friendly easy to talk to and extremely knowledgeable of the waters.

Another fantastic fishing trip with Captain Dave! The salmon and trout were biting and we went home with cleaned fish and tons of memories. Thanks Dave and first mate Jake.

Capt Daves passion is fishing and hell go through hoops to give you the best experience he can give you on the Big Pond. A Charter experience youll throughly enjoy.

Captain Dave Lutze really knows his stuff, not only will he put you on the fish he will also make sure you have an absolute blast! Its a fun trip for the entire family! Yuuup!

I cant promise you will catch fish, but youve got the best chance of anyone out of the Port of Sheboygan with Captain Dave. We had a spectacular afternoon excursion in July. No fish for the first hour or two, but David is so knowledgable about Lake Michigan and the Sheboygan area, we learned a ton. And suddenly, we had a hit! Nothing gets your blood pumping like taking the rod in your hands and wrangling with a huge coho salmon. What an experience! We ended the day with three beautiful fish and a slight sunburn (bring sunscreen). The best part? David and crew clean and filet the fish on the dock! We went home with dinner ready to cook. In Sheboygan, Playing Hooky is a must.
