This is a really cool project! the little town used to be in the style of the 1800s, but they have updated it to be reminiscent of a 1920s era. They have these really cute vintage gasoline pumps and a neat little gazebo and these adorable storefronts. They also have the sort of old fashioned peppermint stick candies! of course, theres plenty of history to be had and a lovely garden. They use it for educational purposes, which unfortunately is not getting much use this year... so hey, if any of you are out there homeschooling your kids and wanting a day trip? This would be a good place to go!

Very nice learning about the history of Shawnee in a relaxed and hands on way. The personnel are exceptional and very attentive to small children. The farm house was amazing, it was built in the late 1800s and really showed how tough it was to live in that time period. Our grandchildren enjoyed feeding the chickens kale from the victory garden. From the 1920 barbershop, the car dealership, grocery store and the other buildings were fun. I would recommend everyone taking a few hours to visit you will enjoy it.

Old Shawnee Town Fair is really nice, live bands, food and rides. It was nice to see the police every where I turned, which made it a safe place to be.

Went to Shawneetown for the first time today. They had a few reenactors like in the 1929 Grocery store and the barber shop. Grandkids loved the authentic grocery store where they got to shop for fake food. Only downer...the candy was fake too! Wish they would have had more activities....but today was a quieter day than typical it sounds like.

Great place to hold meets, sales & all kinds of community eventsThis recreation of an old Shawnee Town shows what Shawnee might have looked like 150 yrs ago. The town hall can be rented for events ( like the Fiber Arts Show & Sale this weekend) or monthly meetings ( like the Shawnee Garden Club). Lots of outdoor events during the summer. A great place to visit & tour!

Its a great place for the parents to stroll around during Old Shawnee days when the kids are riding the rides. Good break from the Sun, and a great place to see all the crafts and get a bite to eat.

These guys (City of Shawnee) sure know how to throw a barbeque party / contest. Love old town Shawnee and the fun, family environment.

The Old Shawnee Town auto show was terrific. Lots of cars and a few trucks. And it was free!

Such a great place, featuring The real past of Old Shawnee! Always educational and fun. Neat summer programs for kids and their gift shop features some old timey knick knacks. You can also buy farm fresh eggs there! Definitely a must see during Old Shawnee Days!

Wonderful site! We happened to visit the day of a festival event which was a bonus.

Lots of cool booths, alot of rides to go on, live music, was simply an awsome day to go when you ever get a chance to do so. Its free to get in, I can go on & on about this place !! I give it a 100.00 percent !! Lol.

This is a fantastic 1920s themed living history museum. It is small, but also authentic to Shawnee. Try to come on a day when events at planned. When we were there, three people were dressed in period costume, there was a leather working activity, the kids were shown how to shop and use the shopkeepers cash register, and type on type a type writer.

Great place for kids

Went to the annual Old Shawnee Days festival. If you dont like crowds I recommend going on Sunday. It wasnt too dead yet not too crowded.
