This is an amazing mine of information and culture! The people who man it are nice, helpful and informative and I will be going back!
I enjoyed the rich culture, I learned a lot
Everyone who visits the area should visit. Great staff, fantastis displays and so much knowledge to absorb.
Great immersion in tribal history. A people with significant ties to US history for good and bad. Important to know and remember
We got to learn about our heritage and it was a beautiful museum
Its a very clean, FREE(theres a donation box at front), educational facility. Interactive touch screens narrated historical images and documents. Amazing reproductions of traditional skills, i.e. a hand carved canoe and paddles on display. Gift shop is awesome, have expensive beautiful pieces of art and tiny little interesting bits for a dollar or less. (My children bought herbavior teeth on leather strings for their $1.)
The new exhibit is very well done, and has a lot of history to tell. It’s worth the drive if you’re in OKC or Tulsa.
Friendly staff. Love getting my beads from here. Just wish they had more colors.
One of the best cultural centers I have been to. Very informative and well put together.
Wonderful museum specific to Potawatomi history and the Citizen Potawatomi Nations story. Highly recommend!
I was blown away by this museum. I had no idea what to expect when I drove from Oklahoma City, and wow, was I surprised. I grew up going to the local arts & sciences museum, and would spend hours there, memorizing facts to annoy my parents and siblings with. This reminded me of those great days. This museum deserves several visits. Everyone working there was nice and checked to see if I had any questions. I took a lot of pictures with my phone, and I wished I had brought my good camera and tripod. If you are in OKC, or the vicinity, this is DEFINITELY worth the drive. Loved it.
Tons of info. Interactive videos. A great memorial for Pottawatomi vets. A decent gift shop, moderately priced. Staff was extremely kind and helpful. Great experience for free.
Loved the exhibits
As a tribal member and a citizen, I can say this place is amazing. Lots of teachings and stories!!! Also, an amazing gift shop inside!
Great people, items, and exhibits.
I got to go to the museum all by myself (Im a stay at home mom of three), and it was wonderful! The gals there are so friendly and informative, gave me some information on programs the kids would be interested in, including the eagle aviary, answered all my questions about what the you are entering citizen something or other nation signs, and asked how I liked the museum when I got out. The whole place smells of sweetgrass, too, which is so wonderful and relaxing. Lots of great information from a more personal perspective than Id ever heard before. I cant wait to go, again.Oh, and the gift Shop is a great, too. They have a wide range of goods, from jewelry to lotions to dolls, and more.
Came here as a homeschooling experience while in Oklahoma for a show. The boys absolutely loved it, they both read the placards out loud and were mesmerized in silence by the stories of creation. I recommend to anyone with any interest in culture and history. The boys reverence and respect surprised even me.
It was great. Every one needs to go.
I love the updated Cultural Heritage Center. We were in town for the family festival and got to see the heritage center for the first time completely open with no construction for the first time in several years. The update was worth the wait! Definitely check it out if you havent already.
Excellent! Great history and displays that all should see. Free admission definitely makes this the top of list for things to do in Shawnee, and well worth the drive from Oklahoma City and surrounding areas.
Nice jewelry. Clothes.
It is a museum depicting the cultural heritage of the native American tribal group known as the Citizen Potawatomi Nation
Very clean. Beautiful art, knowledgable people. Interesting.

A must see in exploring potawato artifacts and history. Admission is free with donations accepted.. Worth the drive......

Great museum enjoyed very much.
I took my kids here to teach them about their heritage and learned alot myself. Full of history and we will be going again.
One of the better museums I have toured. Well worth the time. Only roblem is no seating while going through the exhibits, and for me that is difficult as I get quite sore.
I was at a professional training there on 3-1-19, the staff was very professional and the facility well kept.
Wonderful knowledgeable staff working hard to teach and preserve the culture and history and future of the tribe
A wonderful completely remodeled facility with a bunch of Smithsonian grade Native American artifacts and exhibits. Well done and extremely friendly people.
