It has it’s ups and downs. Good spot to check out the view on a sunny day. Boats go by. Sometimes the bridge will go up to let vessels though to the sound or in to the lakes. There are tours that go though the locks and go into lake Union and back to the Seattle waterfront.

Cool bridge to watch raise and lower for boat traffic from the Sound to Lake Union.Very skinny lanes to drive on though.Sidewalks on either side (also very skinny) and very scary to walk on as there is no railing between you and the speeding cars for the majority of the length of the bridge.Spectacular views if you dare walk across...

Far as I lift bridge goes Ballard bridge will be one of the Quick ones, but its real busy good thing it stays down during a traffic hours from 6 to 9 barium in the afternoon 5 to 7 p.m. I believe, so this is guarantee time the bridge will not go up, on the weekends it goes up a lot especially if its a sunny beautiful weekend thats when all the boats go out for the weekend

I mean, the bridge does its job. Sometimes it gets stuck. Especially in the summer when the steel expands in the heat, which creates total chaos. I always keep my fingers crossed when approaching it, hoping I dont get stuck. They say you shouldnt change lanes on the grates, but to be honest Ive done this before and felt like a total rebel.

This place is a little out of the way from downtown Seattle, however, it is amazing. The menu is eclectic and wonderful. The restaurant itself a open and can accomidate large parties. The staff was really knowledgeable and friendly.

I give this bridge high marks for being very easy to look out at the view from. Only 4/5 stars because its not the highest or longest bridge; it lacks the fun colors seen elsewhere like the Fremont Bridge. Acessories like colorful paint and protected bicycle lanes could really bring a 5 star experience.

Not much to speak of when the bridge is down. It behaves kind of like a street. When the bridge opens however, motorists are afforded the opportunity to deviate from their fast paced schedules and meditate on how the rich get to control our lives with their personal luxurious sea-going vessels. With Ballards population density showing no signs slowing, a common sense approach to lightening the load on the bridge would be welcome.

Extreamly poorly designed and dangerous for cyclist. The pedistrian lane is far too narrow and if your riding a bicycle across cars are whipping past you at 50 mph with just inches between u and them. Pluse the railing is stupidly so low if you happened to get clipped by a motorist over the edge into the water you will go. For the volume of 15 ave and amkjnt number of cyclist between ballard and .downtown amd pedistrians as well the design of this is bridge is frankly Disgusting

I rolled to a gentle stop, my Prius humming quietly as the bridge lights flashed and traffic slowly set around me, like an automotive aspic. Silently, I cursed the other drivers who refused to turn off their engines during the wait, while my car did exactly that, all by itself. The drawspan opened, I let my thoughts drift (Again) to the possibility of making remote-controlled pinhole photographs from the upended bridge deck. Not in these times, my internal creativity-squashing voice whined. Someone will see it and assume its a terrorists bomb! I snapped back to reality as the car in front of me pulled away, and tried to drive with the parking brake still engaged. Thanks for the moment, Seattle DOT!

One of the older bridges over the Ship Canal - and it can get pretty gridlocked at rush hour. But great views of Salmon Bay and the Fishermans Terminal from the middle of the bridge, especially at dusk or sunset.
