The garage is reminiscent of that episode of Seinfeld where they wandered the garage with a goldfish and by the time they found their car it was dead. Im glad I did not have a goldfish. Oh, great venue though, good acoustics.
The performances here are uni standard and maybe even a bit better! I go to support my friends and am glad its right outside ODE! Go watch something and chillax!
Out of date venue for large concerts. Stuffy air, small bathrooms only on upper and lower floors. Allowing seating during performances is bad form! Great acoustics and beautiful aesthetics. Nice cocktail and coffee bar.
Good to be back, the ambiance is excellent and all the people very nice. There only drawback to an older building is the bathrooms are in the basement and our seats and the water fountain on the balcony but the performances are usually worth it.
Beautiful setting for a concert. Four stars because they close the box office after the show starts, so people can not enter late. This is absurd because students are rushing straight from class to see performances at Meany, but are denied entry
An amazing place to witness some great, surprising and unexpected performances. The venue feels intimate ...find a performance that calls to you.....
Beautiful place with comfortable seats and wonderful acoustics. Just needs concessions.
Parking was a bit confusing, but was fairly easy due to Google. Seating was awesome, not a bad seat in the house.
Wonderful performance hall at University of Washington. Acoustics are great. They offer special events such as the world dance series, but also very affordable and enjoyable student performances! I personally like watching the UW orchestras and symphonies play there.
Well laid out with a good view from all seats.
Great venue with genuinely interesting art pieces both in the lobby and on the stage with a student run staff more professional and friendlier than their professional counterparts in other theaters in the Seattle area.
Good venue to see nationally and internationally renowned dance companies
Fantastic venue with great acoustics. Im a fan of Meany Centers World Dance series where they feature a decent variety of contemporary troupes from around the world (and the US). Their other series are excellent as well. The audiences are generally well informed and for Piano or Chamber Music, that usually translates to a little less background noise, coughing, etc than one suffers through at Benaroya :)
The sound was great for the Presidents Own Marine Corps Band. This was the best concert I have ever been to.
Attended the sold out Anita Hill talk and was very impressed with the staff. Tickets for this event ended up selling out very quickly and I was unable to get one, however, they included information about standby tickets which asked folks to show up at least 30 mins before the event. I arrived at 6:45 and there were already 50 people in line. UW students/staff were having people write down their payment information in case there was room for them to attend. They were super kind and patient. The line endes up growing to what appeared to be roughly 100 people in standby, and they got all of us signed up in a timely manner. As it ended up, I believe all of us were able to make it in and we sat in the balcony which gave a great view of the stage. As a anti-sexual.and relationship violence activist amd survivor.this event meant the world to me and the theatre director, who I was able to speak with after the event let me write a thank you note to Christine Blasey Ford who had surprised the audience by introducing Dr.Hill. The director brought the note back to her and was kind enough to update me afterwards amd share that she had read it in front of them and was very touched by it. The student staff who I had met while filling out my payment.before the event was equally amazing and said that if I didnt make it into the event that I should find her and see what strings she could pull since this is my field of.work. Overall, I was.extremely.impressed with how the event was organized.and look forears to attending more events here.
Wonderful performance space. The acoustics are great, and its a beautiful location.
Beautiful venue! Come see any music you can here.
Always great artists, pay for parking, walk a bit, seats are a bit tight
Gorgeous theater with amazing and varied performances.
Meany theater does not have a single bad seat. The Dance series is probably the highest quality dance program and I never had a bad experience. I am always amazed at the performers they bring from all over the world.
Excellent small venue for seeing a concert! Very accessible and good views from all seats. They also have free concerts, to go with world class virtuoso performances! And, students get ridiculously discounted tickets too!
I love all the shows Ive been to here. Especially great dance performances! Momix is amazing!
Nice hall, staff were a little weird.
Sound is great no matter where your seats are.
Wonderful performance by the Presidents Own Marine Band, and it was free!
Ok I know folks from Seattle will just love their art and music venues. The building architecture entrance stairs and art are inviting. However the concert hall falls short. The acoustics are moderate, the piano and cello might have reverberated in other venues, but not Meany hall. The hall is neither grand nor intimate, it is an awkward in between size.
This place is crazy cool! As an engineering student its easy to get stuck in the engineering side of campus where everyones a huge nerd but this hall is such a wonderful escape from all that.
Great spot for variety of different performances
The University of Washington has an amazing performing arts center. Meany Hall is a wonderful venue for dance. Really enjoyed the Chamber Dance Concert.
The acoustics are terrific and there isnt a bad seat in the house. Only downside is the bathrooms: not adequate - especially for women.
One of the best venues in Seattle for music and dance.
Always a pleasure. We get tickets for the world music series and love the whole experience everytime we go. The campus is beautiful, Meany Hall is filled with incredible art by world famous and local artists.
Gorgeous space...sound is a bit too loud though...
Really nice performance venue
Been a World Series Dance subscriber for years. Love the variety and UWs commitment to keep the arts alive!!
Wonderful experience!! Just one small thing: microphones need to be closer to the face so able to hear what conductors are saying
This is the primary performance hall for the University of Washington and I have seen many performances here over the years. Its about a 1200 seat capacity venue and set up in such a way that there really is not a poor seat in the house. Its probably the easiest in and out access of any live theater in town and the house manager and staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful.
Outside of the building and architecture holds alot of seattle history. With that said I find it ugly. The inside though has perfect seating and fantastic acoustics. Perfect place in any seat to watch a performance. Not a bad seat in the house.
Excellent place for music, terrible place for humans. Seats are worse than your worst nightmare airplane ride. How am I supposed to enjoy the music when I’m in pain the whole time?Pretty interesting displays of local artists. But overall it’s a rather expensive night out, and a very uncomfortable one.Now I see why they call it Meany.
Great acoustics and quite a lovely season of performances here this year---at more affordable ticket prices than Benaroya. You may find the cushions available in the lobby for borrowing during the concert to help the comfort level of Meanys theatre-style seats. Park in the garage below the hall--its worth the cost, as parking in the U-district is hard to find. However, be sure to note well floor and direction where you parked, as the garage is a labyrinth and easy to get lost in. Our first time there, we spent 45 minutes after the concert wandering the garage trying to find our car! In recent years Ive subscribed to the Presidents Piano Series and the Chamber Music Series, and found both to be excellent, varied, and well worth your time and investment.
Comfortable, mid-sized performance space. Great sound. Good view from almost every seat.
I was there for the New Jersey state special Olympics. The campus is gorgeous and everyone is very nice and friendly.
The theater offers wonderful programs. All seats have a full view of the stage. There is plenty of leg room.
I especially like the studio Theatre downstairs for watching dance performances. Just the right size.
Our school went on a field trip to watch a ballet. The setup was perfect for a fast bathroom escape, and the staff were so helpful!
It is a wonderful community with great dance instructors.
Really enjoyed this performance, lively, exciting, different, lovely. Thanks!
Excellent UW faculty cello and piano recital by Saeunn Thorsteindottir and Alexandra Joan.
Great seating, variety of snacks and small selection of beverages. Need to eat and drink before going into seating. Also, best to go early to find close parking inside of garage on same level as theatre.
Nice venue but the seats are really close together. Restrooms are not very accessible. Parking is difficult.
Great venue, loved the Mark Morris Concert!
Good sound, nice size hall.
It was large and and the sound was perfect. No feedback from the microphones. It was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful and the bathroom was clean and and didnt smell.
Amazing theatre, same way the supporting staff ... overall its the best in Seattle!!!
Great sound system and not a bad seat in the house.
Nice facility, great accommodating staff, and centralized location. However, restrooms were on the lower level
Nice venue for stage events.
Easy to park and very good shows.
They need to fix the HVAC system.
Large concert hall with great acoustics.
Very nice, clean and freindly.
Great space for a performance, easy parking Underground.
Very nice place for some music.
