Clean, healthy, and well kept. But mind the other visitors as most dont wear a mask. Following the trails established direction can help lower the chances of meeting too close with an exposed possible carrier. The park is beautiful now during Autumn. Dont miss your chance to enjoy a calming stroll through it.
Love everything about MvDade! If its swimming, tennis, baseball, sitting pond-side, walking around(with or without a pet), tennis, taking the kids to the park, basketball, and more that you like.. This is a great place to go!
A really nice Park with The Coal Mining Tour museum. I used to go through the Tour years ago as a kid. Cool place to check out!!!
Park is spacious. Has historical coul mine tour. Lots of fields and hills. A pool, tennis courts, play grounds, water (pond), baseball field. A good place to take wedding photos.
Beautiful park and a fun playground for kids. Also has pavilions with restrooms, bbq pits, basketball amd tennis courts as well as a nice sized swimming pool. Its also surrounding the Coal mine tour so there are plenty of activities. Very nice pond in the center as well.
It is very family oriented. There are swings, slides, picnic area and even a walk trail. Ample parking on both sides. There was a barbecue on the day I visited. It is very safe and well groomed. Go ahead and take your family there.
Love this park for so many reasons. Great place to walk, ride your bike or use the playground. Saw kids fishing as well. Nice little creek that runs though there from the pond. Wasnt able to take the coalmine tour due to covid but was very interesting walking though their as well
Clean, convenient parking, handicap accessible to all areas, large pavilions, grills and picnic tables, fishing pond for kids & handicap, Lackawanna coal mine tour is inside the park, soccer field, tennis courts, basketball courts, bicycle & walking friendly, bathrooms, great view at the top of the park to see much of the Scranton valley including the airport and windmills.
Good ole mcdade park. The pond is lovely, the area is always clean and big enough for tons of people. Photo shoots happens here quite often.
It was very peaceful. Great place to dip off and read
This is a clean well-manicured park. Although it is not a big Park, each area is well spaced. There is bocce ball a playground picnic area, Ann arbor of roses with a bench, a frog pond with a walking bridge over it. It is always clean and safe very well-maintained.
A terrific park to go on a sunny day. There are multiple pavilions for big parties, see the park office for setting things up. Tons of parking, great for bike rides and walking alike. Plenty of places to have a picnic, even groves with built-in charcoal grills. There is a fishing pond that is limited to children and disabled persons only. Also a great playground for kids of any age. Bring your dogs. Lots of waste bins and dog stations. Several brooks and bridges too. Also the Anthricite Museum and Coal Mine tour are located inside the park.
Walked through park, it was beautiful, well kept, clean bathrooms. Its a pleasure to see the Fall Foliage in the atmosphere of McDade Park.
Beautiful place to go had a wonderful time with my family for my birthday party.
Its gorgeous. Very well maintained, and so much you can do with your family from fishing to walking around to playing at the playground to having a picnic under a covered pavilion. Right now during the shut down the coal mine tours are closed but thats really fun and interesting.
Clean, lots of space and quiet spots. Doggie bags refilled everday.
Love this place !! All the time Best place around for a good walk .Kids love it TOO !!!
They have a nice park for the kids to play and that has the coal mine tours
Beautiful park. Playground for the kids. A fishing pond. Walking/Cross-country trails. Picnic areas pavilions.
Great park and always reasonably well maintained.
Beautiful 9/11 memorial service today. Thank you to the committee, police, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, community and religious leaders, singers, and all others who participated in this moving service.
Great walking areas and wide open fields and hills to have picnics with a great view
Its in the area: clean, spacious, and with many sports courts! Its great for tennis practice and walking.
Great place to take your kids for the day for a picnic or just to hang out at the park. You can celebrate birthday parties and many other kinds of celebrations with their pavilions. Definitely one of the best parks for children around and I love how it has padded floors so if the kids fall they don’t get hurt as bad.
Went there for the 1st time and its awesome. Tons of open space to walk, easy walking trail, tennis courts, pond, and more. Great place to have a picnic and relax on a nice day.
So beautiful been there since a child myself one thing that bothers me most, my daughter and I picked up litter that was throw in the water where the wood deck is behind the wood chair you can sit at. Wow if your gonna litter thats horrible especially that there are garbage cans you can put it in .
Ok only because most of it was shut down due to covid. Still found it interesting with what was accessible.
Beautiful scenery, playground, basketball courts, and fishing..nice calm surroundings
Free great place do meeting cook out bye yourself or with family.
Very nice during the fall season

Very family friendly and beautiful place to visit
Its a beautiful park complete with great amenities for the whole family.
Love this place . Been going there since I was a kid.
Lovely little park. Wonderful Anthracite Museum full of history of the area. Coal mine tour is interesting as well. Places to picnic, walk, and areas to play various games. Parking on site. Restrooms available.
Had fun flying kite with the kids and letting them explorer the outside .Park was clean and looked like the workers really try to keep it
I love this park I feed the fish there and go for looking walks very clean friendly atmosphere
Beautiful please to take your family.
My son had the whole (wet) playground to himself today and had the time of his life
I LIKE BECAUSE of the coal mine history and for seeing the birds taking a walk on the trail
Fun place to run around
Seems like nice park I would have to have time to explore it all
There are very few parks in this area which are well maintained and public bathroom. McDade is one of them. Pool, tennis courts, very nice playground for kids, etc. Worth visiting.
Very nice grounds, pet and kid friendly
This is a great place. It really humbles one to learn this history. A must go for everyone and especially children. Plant the seed of curiosity in them
It has most of the sports you can play. Softball, tennis, basketball, and more
We took the coal mine tour. It was very informative and interesting. The guide did a great job explaining the mining process of years ago and the conditions at the time. The mines are pretty large and I didnt feel clostrophobic at all.
Awesome park something for everyone walking trails picnic spots cook out pavilion swimming pool multiple sport courts
Clean well kept nice workers p0lice ride through state troopers also hiden cameras great for familys dog walkers elderly people. Drop by give it a try go for a ride in the mines or sit a bench take in the view.
Nice park for family outting
I take my two little daughters, McDade Park just about every day to swim. Each time they go they enjoyed themselves, my opinion and I have to come in the lifeguards for keeping the pool clean disease around the interior and exterior around establishment. each lifeguard they are very mindful go to each individual within the pool the main concern its about the safety any well being why they are guess MacDade Park swimming pool. For those who havent been there I highly recommend you go there and you will enjoy yourself the water is clean silk wrap running around old leaves in water these people take pride in what they do so go to take a swim before it closed for the summer.
Home of the Holy Cross Crusaders. I love it. Tbh I think they should add a few things to the basketball courts. A 3 point Line and new backboards and rims.
A really fascinating tour of a real coalmine, taking you deep into the earth and enveloping you into the experience of the miners of years past. The gift shop is also nicely priced.Meanwhile, it seems that for locals there are myriad opportunities for recreation, while natural beauty abounds as well. Highly recommend.
Nice place to walk around and site see
Good park. I go and hike the trails and explore becoming one with nature again. Its important to clear your mind and recharge your batteries every now and then. I bring a water and maybe a light snack, no more than 150 calories. I use my fanny pack even though kids laugh and point. I always have a good time here and never feel unsafe.
Nice park, lots of cool hiking trails, a unique tour of a coal mine, sadly Scranton Pennsylvanias only claim to fame: under-appreciated!I love walking around this park!Great for the outdoors enthusiast... like myself!
Amazing park for the whole family including the fur babies lots to do and very spacious ;-)
Great little park. Sketchy sometimes
Visited the coal mine tour with the family and they loved it.. Staff was very informative and knowledgeable...
Clean,children friendly, nice quiet park
Really peaceful place to go and relax. And there was once a Sasquatch sighting there LOL
No security on duty during weekend!
Ive loved this park since I was a wee lad. Its quiet and the park is beautiful.
Went on a coal mine tour. Very interesting experience
This place is awesome. There is something to do on all levels during the summer. I take my kids there to the park and to go swimming and when I have a get together we set up shop and barbeque and play games. Love this place.
Great place to go and take a walk, have a birthday party, take your kids to the playground or fishing. It is pet friendly too.
My 6yr old son had a blast. The park was clean with much activities, a nice place to spend the day outdoor. Plenty of parking friendly atmosphere.
Ok park. Not one of my favorites. But I am glad they have the mine attraction and the museum. Mining was a very big part of our local history and its great for people to see what the miners actually experienced. And it helped make this area what it is today. Still havent found the pond though. Keep hearing about it, but still havent found it! Also appreciate the fact that their pool is free to the public. Not everyone can afford to go to Nay Aug, especially bigger families.
I like taking my daughter here. Its always nice and clean. Also the coal mine tour is in the same area
I love this park. I remember coming here as a kid and now l bring my kids. The playground for the kids is huge and most of the ground is rubber it feels like you bounce when you walk, so cool and much safer for falls! My daughter is 2 now and l take her almost everyday to the playground. She loooooves it!!! We also like to walk our dogs here. People are respectful for the most part picking up after thier dogs which is good. Youll find a random pile here and there but not 2 bad. They do a good job of keeping the park clean in general, grass cut, garbage picked up etc..
My husband, myself and our 15 month old daughter spent about 45 mins here and we walked all over and looked at the ducks and fish in the pond. We also played on the playground and the baby loved the instrument section. Very family friendly!
Very nice place to walk and enjoy life.
It is a Nice place of children to play around. The only thing that we felt missing is a map display like Niyag park that could help visitors to navigate through the park.
I love taking my dog to mcdade park to walk her. Me n my boyfriend absolutely enjoy walking the many trails that are there. They take you thru the woods which is so beautiful. There is ton of other things to do also a park for kids, basketball court, and even a picnic area to cook and eat.
Great park to walk the dog, play basketball or bocci, let the kids play on the slides and swings, or go fishing/looking for tadpoles in the pond. The pool is always crowded and a bit too deep for small children, but otherwise a lovely park.
Nice place to spend time
This is the perfect park to bring your kids to and spend a day! The is so much to do and it is an amazing park.
Wonderful place
I love this place they have a huge park a nice lake to swim in and a swimming pool that is public and its free to my kids love this place
Great for parties, cook outs it just family fun
This place is huge. Very large playground for kids, a lake you can sit around, basketball and volleyball/tennis courts, a small pond, baseball field, soccer field, one or two nice trails going around the edge of the park, a wooded picnic area with charcoal grills and tables, the anthracite museum with coal mine tour, there are a ton of things to do here!
Had a wonderful day at the Annual Senior Fun Day today! The staff from Lackawanna County Parks and Recreation should be very proud of the work they do to keep McDade an amazing venue.
