A fascinating mix of the historic and the modern. Lovely architecture. Great stories. Living history. Heres a jewel of a city whose eyes are fixed on preserving the past while embracing the present.

First time to Savannah for me . I used Kelly Tours Savannah to give me a 90 minute drive through 11 spots. They drove me around. they did a wonderful job for about $30 a person. that way I could see what I wanted to, go back to visit and enjoy. They then allow for me to give them a call come pick me up for the next two days for the same price. one price for 2 days. There are unique shops, it is an artisan community, every corner theres two or three restaurants, and I want to try each and every one of them. theres just not enough time.... Ill be back. Right now a lot of Savannah has already been restored they are also working on roads and restoring areas south of the historic district. all in all Im excited to be able to come back here and discover more history.

I have been to Savannah for 3 short visits, and I have loved each visit. My visits were in the summer, spring and my last visit was recently in autumn. The first time I went with my husband, teenage son, preteen daughter, and my father-in-law. Having an older family member in our group meant not walking too much. Plus in the summer shade from the sun is needed. We did a hop on/off trolley tour and it was great. It gave us a great overview of the area, and the information provided in the tour was fantastic. My father-in-law loved it, as well as my kids. I would take another trolley tour, because you can only soak up so much info at any given time, and there is so much history there. Weve also had dinner by the river, which was great not only for the view, but because during the summer there was a fireworks show every night. The weather was great for walking in the spring and autumn. The historic area is not too big, about 1 square mile, and walking it is very easy. On my last visit I completed a virtual 10K and decided to jog through all 22 town squares as well as Forsyth Park. My husband and I would run from one square to the other, then walk around briefly in the park. It made for a good, scenic interval workout. There is also a comic book store that my son enjoyed visiting while we were there. I have also visited a few tea and coffee shops, which were delightful. The area along the river is also a great place to stroll and explore.

This city has some real history behind it! I had no idea that John Wesley was a pastor here and that the founder of the Girl Scouts of America attended that same church! There are lots of “squares” in downtown, with paths and shaded benches. There are a lot of one-way roads, which makes navigating by car through it a challenge. To get down to River Street, there are multiple “ramps” that start from Bay Street. These “ramps” are zigzagging cobblestone paths that look like dead ends, but most of them aren’t. Some are closed for construction so just watch out for that. There are multiple visitors centers, but I went to the one on River Street next to the Hyatt Place. Note: on the brick path next to the river, there are a few plazas where the path extends and has benches and trees growing. If you like skateboarding: SKATEBOARDING IS ILLEGAL ON THOSE PLAZAS. There are signs stating so, but I didn’t see them, and found out the hard way, but got off lucky. There aren’t any signs you can’t skateboard anywhere else on the brick path, so I think it’s just for the plazas...Very nice historic center! Definitely recommend Savannah’s Candy Kitchen! Try not to drop your gelato like I did.

We chose Old Savannah tours for our on and off experience. The experience was good but we seemed to see more competitor pickups which would have saved waiting. Wing Cafe for lunch was a cool place to hide out for a quick bite. Wings were the best Ive had but the sliders suffered from slightly stale bread. Drinks were cold and quick, service awesome and smiling. Fun day!

The ambiance and charm of this historic city exceeded all my expectations. The history of Savannah is really interesting and the trolley tour is one of the best ways to tour Savannah. Prepare to spend a few days walking around the 24 squares of historical Savannah. Pay attention to the rich history of the houses that took up to 10 years to build. The whimsical architecture is stunning and I only wish you could find architecture like this today.

Whats not to love about this historic location? The history behind this area is intoxicatingly rich with stories from long ago and not so long ago. Both entertaining for families and singles. There are plenty of shopping opportunities along the River Walk and Center Street Market. For the art lovers, SCAD is prominent throughout the District and is brings a refreshing modern feel to the area. Ive visited multiple times and will again. Highly recommend.

Beautiful historic district, the well kept homes date back to the 1800s and surround small parks with towering trees, flowers, statues and fountains throughout the area. Myriad of restaurants with great food, small boutiques and antique stores. The Riverwalk is located at the original cotton exchange, and there is plenty of establishments to eat, shop, and see.Savannah has a colorful history, and I would recommend a tour bus (not diesel) and a paranormal walking tour. The cemeteries also have quite a past. The bed and breakfasts are very reasonable and beautiful.

Lovely place to walk, have a drink and get something to eat. And all of it in the midst of some of the most historic places in US history. The hop on hop off trolleys are more than worth it. Savannah is hands down the most beautiful city I have ever been in. I was worried the history would be civil war totally. THE HISTORY IN SAVANNAH IS REVOLUTIONARY WAR almost exclusively. Green spaces (squares ) and parks though the whole city. Great shade from live oaks with Spanish moss hanging. At 85 dregrees you are not uncomfortable to walk the city Lyft and uber are good car services. Driving is not a problem parking Is the issue $$.if you drive everywhere every day. If you stay in district park your car in garage $12 day and walk or uber you are minutes walk to everything history river front shopping eating drinking dancing river. Take your phone an Google maps you wont get lost &you can look up the history of the thing you are looking at. Technology is wonderful for travel. You could eat in a restaurant with very good to Great food every day for at least a year and not go the same place twice. Do not stay for less than 4days. If you are a history addict it would take 10 days to do half in depth and that is just downtown. Do research before you go.
