I received a tattoo from black orchid a few years ago and was so impressed by the environment, the cleanliness, and the staff! My tattoo artist walked me through everything he was doing from the equipment he used to showing me how sanitized everything was. I think he could tell I wasn’t used to getting tattoos and wanted me to understand what was happening

I got my Tattoo done a few months back by Mags. She was a very nice and light handed tattoo artist who eased my nerves a lot when it came to my first tattoo. She filled me in on how to take care of it, especially with it being done in the summer months and beach season. I absolutely love it and it turned out great.

Artists are talented and attentive to clients. Front desk gets you checked in and out quickly. The space is clean and decorated comfortably.

Everyone was friendly and the shop was clean. Jose made sure to get every detail right and was a delight.

Absolutely amazing artists! So personal and made me feel so comfortable. I was able to talk with them on and off for over a month and they were so kind and patient.

My friends and I walked in last minute today, originally only planning for one of us to get some ink, 3/4 left with new ink lol. I only got a previous tiny foot tattoo touched up, it looks even better than it did the first time and Jose even added shading and dimension to make it look more cartoonish, I love it and I’m so glad i finally got it touched up! The team was immensely welcoming, friendly, accommodating and fun. 10/10 recommend, we’ll definitely be back in the future!

I love my tattoo by Jose and the building was super professional and clean. There were small hiccups due to pandemic, but it was an otherwise good experience. If you do stop here, keep in mind right now, you have to do so alone. Also they dont email customers so if youre like me who is used to emailing artists, they run a little differently but otherwise Im happy!

Lady at the front desk named Brooke seemed very approachable and everything went well over the phone. I sent in some references for a really small tattoo that probably wouldn’t take longer than 15 minutes but it took longer than 2 days to get a quote. Meanwhile, my friend that called 2 minutes before me got to get tattoo the same day and got 2 done. How hard is it to show a picture to an artist and get an estimate? It feels like the front desk lady Brooke was incapable of doing so maybe she hates her job? I’ve given them a call three consecutive times in two separate days, on top of that I’ve sent messages and have gotten 0 replies. Definitely don’t recommend going to this tattoo shop, lack of professionalism and doesn’t really care about customers. Definitely big no and I would recommend going elsewhere.

Chris made some great decisions when it came to color and shading. He worked around a piece already there and blended it in very nicely. Have my next consult this weekend! Cant wait!

I really enjoy the experience of getting tattooed at Black Orchid. Im sure that there are other comparable tattoo studios around the city, but this one is the place to go in Savannah. The overall atmosphere is as a tattoo studio that one expects it to be. Its not my first time going there either. Although the staff is always busy, they manage to be friendly, speak to me, and smile. Mags Beam is a talented artist and shes my tattooist. I go to her for all my tattoo consultations and new ink. She listens to what I want and always delivers what I want my tattoos to look like. I definitely plan to go back again whenever I want some new ink done by Mags in the future. Ive been getting some work here lately from Camden. He is the sweetest little baby bear Ive ever met and his work is phenomenal. The first time I came in it was as a walk in. They were all super sweet and accommodating. I always have a pleasant experience here, which is almost more important to me than the actual tattoo itself. My daughter and I flew in from Seattle, Wa. I called about 4 days in advance, and they were SUPER KIND AND INFORMATIVE!! (Not like the competitors in the area). This place is wonderful! The environment was very clean, all the artists were very diligent on making sure the tattoo was exactly how I wanted it. All the artists also had their certifications posted on the wall and were very aware of me as a client the whole time. I am definitely going back again!!

Chris Autry was my artist. Totally enjoyed my experience working with him. I had a full sleeve done over the past few months and I am so happy with the results. I would not recommend any other studio. All of the artists are very talented. The location is great and the vibe there is very inviting. I plan on starting my next arm very soon.

New to the area and trying to find a new artist. The front desk/office lady was very rude - NO customer service. Pretty sure she either hates her job, her life, or customers! So for that we chose to take our business elsewhere

No complaints about Black Orchid as an organization, but I had the worst experience ever with my tattoo artist Pete. This is my first tattoo and I have wanted it for two-three years now and I have been very excited and nervous. When I went in for the appointment, I was nervous and obviously had no experience, and was told “I’m only going to tell you to be still 2 times and then it’s your tattoo if you mess it up.” Once we finished I was very happy and excited that I had finally gotten my first tattoo, and then realized it was completely messed up. The planets are completely wrong in a size perspective. Earth is the smallest planet in my tattoo, and Mars is the largest. That is NOWHERE close to accurate. I sent Pete a direct email of what I wanted, and consented to the change of the design inside the planets and nothing else! He did show me the design before starting, but as Pete was showing me the designs within the planets to make sure the changes were okay, I never even thought I would need to check behind him to make sure the planets were in the right order, because we never discussed changing that! After realizing this not even 8 hours after the appointment, I called ASAP so I could talk to Pete. Met with him, and was told it was completely my fault, that I told him the order of the planets, and that there was nothing he could do. Even when I proposed adding another planet and changing some shading to make it so the last planet was Pluto, he absolutely refused and told me it was not possible. I am completely scarred from this experience, and besides possibly getting a cover up for this terrible mistake, I NEVER plan on getting another tattoo now.

I have had 2 tattoos done by 2 different artists in the past few months and I already have 4 designs drawn out to be done! I can always easily find an appointment time and they help me draw up exactly what I want. This is going to be my go to place for as long as Im in the area. I will also keep posting pictures of the pieces I get along the way

My daughter had her first tattoo with Black Orchid, she researched and after a time made her selection based on the good artistry. We went in and met two artists for two jobs each taking between two and three hours. Both artists did great work, and were friendly; this is not aimed at them. However, both artists commented several times during the two visits that some of the tattoo would need touch-up later, which was included in the money paid, after everything healed. We even set up a follow-up appointment. The appointment date came and we were expecting a call to remind us, wed received one for the other two appointments, but no call. My daughter tried multiple times the day before and no answer, we called several times the following week and no one got back with us. We thought of dropping in, but i was already frustrated. My daughter finally gave up and I encouraged her to check out other places for future work because this is simply not good business practice.

My daughter myself & husband all got tattoos same day a simple yin yang I cant remember my artist name but he was very heavy handed,plus the tattoo healed terribly. Its 2 1/2 years old now yet it looks older then my 1st tattoo from 95 after that I heard about good fortune tattoos..they are awesome! Great work, clean & friendly place.

I have had all my tattoos done by Chris at the Black Orchid and he does a great job. Very creative and works with the client to make sure the piece is done to your satisfaction. Not to mention they have been named Best Tattoo Shop in Savannah for 6 years in a row! I drive 3.5 hours just to have my work done by these guys and it is always worth the trip.

Pete is a fine tattoo artist and veteran. He made my wife and I feel comfortable and delivered a great tattoo without much time to prepare. True professional.

Have had 2 tattoos done here so have my son, daughter and daughter, and my sister. They do great work.

A couple years ago I had a bad experience here with a certain female tattoo artist that worked there, but as of the past few months I have been working with Marcus Dove on my traditional sleeve. All I can say is check out his work, it certainly speaks for itself. I have had a great experience. As far as the other artist, they seem to be equally talented with whatever style of art they pursue.

I use Chris Autry only, hes the man. Great shop clean and always professional. I will only go to this shop. You wont be disappointed.

Worst in Savannah. Was forced to place a deposit for a appointment. When I arrived, the artist had told me that my tattoo was not possible, so he decided to just draw up some generic crap that I didnt want. We setup a new appointment and gave him some new ideas. When I came back again, he had told me my tattoo was not possible and he changed my ideas once more. He was not willing to really sit down and agree on an idea and he got very irritated quickly. Worse tattoo artist Ive ever worked with. It was the guy with the stupid dots tattooed on his forehead.

I wanted a celebrities signature… super simple. Went in to make an appointment. When I asked for a quote I was told I couldnt be given one and needed to make a deposit first, then the person at the front then took the picture I had to use, and came back telling me I was looking at 150-175… For a black signature that was only about 6 long and 1.5 inches in height… Everything I asked was responded to with, I dont know or Youll need to make a deposit first. I decided to leave and go downtown to Ghost Town Tattoo on Montgomery Road, They took me as a walk in, did the tattoo in less than an hour (beautifully I may add) and only charged me 70 bucks. I saved over 100 dollars, and got it done that same day. Black Orchid just seemed uninterested in doing business and uncaring.
