I took my daughter to see Peter Pan and it was very well done. Altho I think the theater could use some updating, it smelled musty. But the seats were comfortable and the stage area looked very nice.

SUPERB, THOUGHT PROVOKING THEATER! Exceptionally well acted! Direction must have been inspired! A bit more set design might have been appreciated, but then again it might have distracted from the story. FST regularly provides productions which raise subjects which need to be raised. Keep up the good work!

We had the best experience with FST summer camp! My oldest one who was graduated from kindergarten at the time went there last year for 4-week summer camp and he still would like to go there during the school year. Instructors are super nice and very talented! My son has gained so much self-esteem after going there. Thank you all you do! Hopefully we will send both our kids this summer!

Lovely theater in downtown Sarasota, FL. We saw a very entertaining show called Gilbert and Sullivan Unplugged. The 5 performers were magnificent, very talented, playing a variety of instruments while singing snippets from the duos shows. This theater serves dinner if you get there 1 hour before show time, and drinks. Very enjoyable.

Saw “Light My Fire”. What a great experience. The music was pure 60s. The 3 musicians sang songs from the Beach Boys, Mama’s and Papa’s, The Beatles, Joplin, Hendrix, The Hollies, Joe Cocker and many many more. Although the songs were not done in the order they came out, the cast gave a great narrative to fit the songs about the 60s I would highly recommend this if you are from this era or just know and enjoy the music from this era.

American son is one of the most powerful pieces of theater I have seen in awhile. Playing in script. Very contemporary subject matter

Always a great time at FST. We love that we can take our young children to the theatre and the whole family has an enjoyable experience. The plays and actors are incredible. ️

Beware of the seating charts! We are from out of town and relied upon the advice on seating from the box office. When we arrived in the balcony of Bownes, we were shocked to find we couldnt see the stage! The manager assured us we could move our chairs close to the tables surrounding the rim. The patrons in those seats were not thrilled with us. Even then, I could only see the backside of 1/4 of the stage. They eventually moved us, but I had to complain vigorously. They should not sell these seats. I have contacted management about this issue, but they have ignored me.

We saw a play at the Gompertz Theatre for the first time and it was fun. Very nice venue with comfortable stadium seating.

Handle with care is a very unusual show, well done with clever twists. Intimate theater and unobstructed view from our balcony seats. Going back for more Florida Studio Theater shows this week.

A Sarasota gem. This is a wonderful venue with always entertaining theatre performances once you get used to the smell of mothballs and soiled Depends. Just kidding about that last part, sort of. I do wish they could attract some younger patrons, though.

Excellent production of BRIGHT STAR portrayed well by enthusiastic performers and musicians. No bad seats in the theatre. Wonderful evening.

A friend of mine brought me here for a show about music from the baby boomer generation. I’m GenX & absolutely loved it. The building is adorable with an attached restaurant and bar. The seating inside the show area is available downstairs or on the balcony. It’s very cozy inside & the stage is able to be seen from all seating locations it seems. I’ve now been to 4 shows in the last 2 months. Every chance I get to bring visiting company there, I do & they love it too! The food and drinks offered by the delightful staff are all great too. The tickets are reasonable, too. Go see a show!

Always enjoy our field trips here. I was impressed at the stage, props, performance of our last visit to Pinocchio. Simple. Showed kids how to be creative and imaginative with what they have available

Just saw the last of my Summer season series shows. The Cottage was absolutely hilarious. I havent laughed that much since the movie Bridesmaids. I really needed that right now. FST always does such a wonderful job on acting, costuming, and atmosphere ( food too). Best entertainment bargain in Sarasota. Love, love, love it!

The food has much improved. Service was good and the show was wonderful. Parking was a challenge. Good value for the money.

We have been attending Florida Studio for over 20 years. For the price of the ticket and the food, if you eat there, is a great bargain. We go 6 times a year to the Cabaret.

One of the great things about Sarasota is that cultural opportunities abound. This is most certainly the case with the Florida Studio Theater complex. Theres always something good happening. There are different theaters within the complex. Nestled in old Sarasota by the bayfront. Easy walking distance from the Westin Hotel and many shops and restaurants. Usually two full shows a night with dining. Food is good, with a full bar and wine selection. Staff is very accommodating. Setting picturesque. A nice way to spend a night out.

This rating is for the comedy show only. The space is cozy with a historic vibe. Waitress service was exceptionally slow. But the comedy show was so aweful that we left. We were not the ones to walk out. We felt like a refund was in order. Seriously comedy should not be a painful experience!

I went with 3 other ladies and we enjoyed this time. The play was excellent and the young man was exceptional. The play was about an autistic boy. High end entertainment money well spent. We will be back.

We felt that “Ethel Waters-Eye on the Sparrow race shamed whites. Yes, it is atrocious and inexcusable as to what happened to African Americans so many years ago. The people responsible are long dead and gone. Don’t make the current audience, who had nothing to do with what happened, feel guilty for being white. The Green Room had an excellent lunch, but tables for two are too tiny! Green Room going for the cash grab. No thanks, we’ll look elsewhere.

Enjoyed the improv always put on a great show

We were given high top seating. There were two regular tables but the floor manager decided to give them to two other couples. We were the second people to arrive. When I asked about a table for our group it was like to bad so sad. It left a really bad taste and not sure I will ever go back. I dont think I will renew my tickets for next year.

Guitar Girls was a high energy show. All were so talented. Enjoyed every minute of it. Our food was very tasty.

We have been members for 6 years and enjoy the productions, especially cabaret. Season tickets is the way to go. Every seat is good for all the theaters and cabaret serves dinner at your reserved table from 6:30pm.

Beautiful performance space. Very intimate. Saw Monday night jazz and had a great time. The performers like the intimacy as much as we did.

Great show in a warm and friendly cabaret atmosphere.

The show, Hand To God was hilarious. The production and the performances were first rate. We ordered tickets late and had to settle for limited vision but the usher told us to move when the show started. That worked out great so the entire evening was very enjoyable.

Always looking me the quaint theater, and there is always something new and different to see.

I cant believe I didnt find this sooner. This beautiful historic little Studio Ill see you still be part of the Sarasota Womens Club. I attended an event where it was invitation only but I found out that this theater has all kinds of performances. This is a must-do for any local or visitor beautiful historic and right downtown about a half block from Marina Jacks.

Best local theatre. Eclectic in presentations. Always fun, interesting, well presented.

We saw the improv show, it was great. The actors all flowed, and it felt like a sort of Sarasota themed whose line is it anyway. Food was decent, they forgot one of our orders and when we asked about it they immediately comped us a free desert. The staff was great overall. Definitely recommended if you need something to do at night in the area.

Their summer programs are outstanding, especially their V.I.P. program for challenged performers Very talented.

6 of us went to the Saturday night improvisational show.. it was great and full of energy somehow they manage to serve us all and get the bills to us without knocking over tables..the food in the theater was remarkably good. The $15 price tag was a pleasant surprise.

This local Sarasota Theater is amazing. They always have great shows, great performers, and in wonderfully intimate venues. I look forward to every show that I see.

I saw Deck The Halls for Christmas with my niece and nephew. We all enjoyed it so much! From the venue, to the greeters, the play and even the popcorn. The actors and actresses were fantastic and the story of the show was just wonderful. We all laughed alot and smiled big for 40 minutes straight. Jingle-the elf was absolutely hilarious. Loved everything about this place on my first visit. Excited for the next time. Thank you all for an amazing experience.

Sorry to say, worse food ever!!! Think it was left in broiler from yesterday. Eat somewhere else .

The theater is so cool and beautiful. The theater we were in was so quaint. They had cute little tables restaurant style and popcorn for the kids. It is a treat to go and see anything there.Talked with some of the employees and set designers and everyone was so happy to work there. Saw The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe with our two and a half and five-year-old grandkids. If you didnt know the story it would have been kinda hard to follow. It also was a little high energy and with the accents it was a little difficult to understand sometimes. The actors did very well with what they had to work with... But I thought it could have been better for the kids with more props and costumes. There wasnt much of that at all. Will definitely check out another show!

My sister an I went tonight to the “coming together” show we knew we would be the youngest by far as I am 26 and she is 13. As soon as we came in an the manager (a guy) asked us, “if we needed help?” And we replied “yes, this is our first time here!” We Were very excited till he proceeded to tell us that “next time we come at 7:30 (the time of the show) our seats would be sold to someone else.” So then we sit I recorded a tiny part not aware I could not. I was scolded by the “stage manager” I put my phone down right away an went on enjoying the show. My sister an I went downstairs to use the bathroom at intermission and the manager guy came up to us again an said “the stage manager told him about me using my phone” and he went on about it. I was not pleased with that so I told my sister “let’s leave” so we did. It’s very upsetting we can’t go enjoy a nice theatre performance without being “attacked” just because we are clearly not the same age group as everyone else around us. You’d think the theatre would like to bring a younger demographic to keep it alive as the years go on. My step dad bought tickets for an upcoming show An will be giving them away. Hopefully we find another theatre around that does not treat us like this.

Great venue, but dont go week days matinees, parking a nightmare!

Cabaret performances are top quality. Stage performances use actors guild and many actors have performed in theaters around the States and the world. This is not a group of local citizens performing, rather professionals with outstanding credentials. Excellent!

Another great show at Florida studio Theatre! At this point, I have seen several plays, and they were all good. I particularly like the cabaret style, where you can eat at the table before the play. The whole experience is very enjoyable.

Our home away from home, it feeds our hearts and souls.

This was a total treat and excellent gift from my son. A great Theatre complex in the heart of Downtown Sarasota, FL. I believe there are five separate stages. We were at the Mainstage Gompertz Theatre and ate at the Green Room, a cute and nice place to eat lightly or have dinner. Highly recommend both for a wonderful night out.

A Gentlemans Guide to Love and Murder was among the better productions of FST. The theater makes a great effort to provide generous parking alternatives. A well run organization and a very good buy.

Stage 3 productions are cutting edge and brilliantly acted. Staff are lovely and helpful. Great space. And reasonable prices. Wish the series could be longer.

Improv celebration was feally fun. Will see more at a later event.
