Hands down the best acting training you are going to get. They operate on their own very unique rules but it doesnt take away from the acting or the gift that they can teach. Truly among the last best and real school left.

The best acting studio in LA - focus on the pure Meisner technique, respect for the Art, seriousness about profession. The teachers are just simply the best, professionally and personally speaking. Always helpful, caring, loving and supportive. This is even more than just an acting training, it really makes you a better version of yourself.

If this is as far as you read I will say this: Any artist should do theirselves the favor of the Baron Brown Studio (2 year School of the pure Meisner Technique). This is THE place to go to develop or discover your talent. Each instructor is trained for many years (and it shows), and are masters, brilliant in their own right.

“Beware of wolves in sheep clothing.” You know, I heard great things about this place and decided to see what they were about. Now mind you as an actor I have a body of work but I’m not rich so every hard earned buck ($) goes a long way.I went to the intro they were having with D.W. Brown and he was great, someone I wanted to train with. But still something felt amiss, but I kept going with it and just used discernment, to lead me.Joanne Baron finally showed up and D.W. Brown left. She went on to talk about the Studio and name drop all of these famous actors she once coached, and spent most of the time using that as a tool of promotion, not bad, it’s nice to talk about past students but what about the current students? It’s nice to talk about past success but what about recent successes? It’s okay to talk about the school but if the place is what it claims to be then talking about the school and the craft should be enough.This was another red flag for me, but still needed further discernment...Then the hook came, as Joanne Baron said:“I don’t know what your beliefs are but mine is Jesus. And I believe my mission is to raise up generations of actors that will go out and do the work. And make the world a better place by the work they do.”Someone mentions Jesus and I would be all over it. And in this case I let down my discernment and was sold. Later did the spirit lead me to know that everyone who uses Jesus’ name aren’t always followers of his word.But I took her statement as a sign. And so I got information afterwards from the office where they are extremely cold and not welcoming at all, another RED FLAG.I went home and grieved over it and decided to sign up and just take a leap of faith. So I go in to sign up for a class and paid a deposit of $400.Then I found out that my family reunion was happening during the time the class would start and I needed to move into the next class start date so that I could be available for the class.Family is important, it’s something I have neglected in the past and wasn’t willing to compromise on.So I called to change classes and the guy who I had been working with, I believe his name is Jonathan, who had replaced Dana, apologies if the name is off but check the school, and I’m sure that the names are close, Jonathan said that I should be able to move classes no problem he just needed to get approval from Joanne Baron.So in my mind, I’m thinking this is a no brained, I gave them $400 deposit and Joanne is a Christ believer so she’s understand the importance of family...She leaves me a voicemail:“Brandon, I understand you are a family man, but you have to treat this class like a job and sometimes you have to make sacrifices. I will not move you to another class. But maybe you can figure out a way to see your family on the weekend or something....”It goes on and I still have the voicemail, for record keeping, long story short.She told me the $400 was non-refundable and I couldn’t use it toward another class and I told her I would not sell my soul and further distance myself from family.Be careful of the leaven folks, the business there is setup to rob actors and I hope you are awake to see it.You always have to come out of pocket, how often is anything going into yours?You you pay others for the dreams you dream? You are being charged for your dreams by a system that doesn’t care if you succeed or fail.This school will also set you up for that failure. Because it’s more about the $$ than it is your education.It took me over 4 months to write this review, I wasn’t going to say anything, but then my silence would have allowed them to keep doing the same thing and taking advantage of you. Consider this illuminating the darkness so you can see what really happens.No I never got the $400 back and they never reached out about it either. It’s in God’s hands now, I just wanted to give account so that you could have discernment too and hopefully plan better for your future.Best,Brandon K. Hampton

*HIGHLY RECOMMEND* If youre looking for an acting class that will improve your CRAFT as well as your LIFE, this is it! I took the 6-week Summer Intensive in 2013 with the energetic, inspiring and beautiful Elaine Williams, and the author of You Can Act! and 2500 Years of Wisdom: Sayings of the Great Masters, DW Brown. Their combined passion, knowledge, encouragement and precision not only helped me identify what I personally needed to work on as an actor, but as a person. The Meisner technique, Ive come to realize, is not just about Living Truthfully in Imaginary Circumstances, its LIVING, truthfully. I feel more connected, more honest with myself and others, and more able to allow emotions to flow through me. ...Not to mention that I have continued the training - I am currently in my first year - and my booking ratio has skyrocketed!!! I feel more confident as an actor, and it shows :)

This is a perfect place to get back to the root of acting. Being present. I love studying here. I recommend it for anyone wanting to become the best they can be.

Went into an interview, thought everything was great. Had a great conversation with the young guy Weal in the office, he smiled in my face and told my Agent something completely different which ruined over relationship and I had to drop her. If the office staff are of condescending nature I wouldnt recommend my worst enemy to be taught there.

I can not say enough positive words about this studio. It changed my acting, and my life!! If you are looking for a solid foundation, and craft to carry you through your career this is the place to be!

I did not get a good feeling with this studio. Yes, your money is their priority. They even charge you extra fees to make up a class when youre absent! their attitude is that theyre the only real Meisner studio in LA. I couldnt really say. But they do promise that their version of Meisner will change your professional life forever, and thats a bit much to swallow. Approach cautiously.

What a great place to not only develop your artistry, but learn the REAL business of the industry. I relocated to Los Angeles at the end of 2012 to get into the Big leagues of acting. Baron Brown stood out to me as my home in Meisner because of their strict discipline and professionalism. It wasnt my intention to begin auditioning until after I graduated the program but an opportunity came my way at the end of 2013. I took the skills learned in my first year from Lisa Milillo and Talia Sherman into the audition room and ended up booking the principal role, in a SAG feature for a great Production! This was my first audition in LA!Elaine is my teacher for 2nd year and she is as amazing as my first year teachers! Each of them has provided not only the top level of professional education, but inspiring mentorship, that excites in me a solid confidence in my future as an actor. Additionally, I take Alexander Technique from Michael Frederick. Hes also a great personality and his training in the technique helped me tremendously in the audition! And my classmates...The BEST! I love them and look forward to the bloom of our careers.Not only did my training at Baron Brown help me in the room, it helped prepare me for the reality of being on a legitimate SAG production set, working alongside the highest level of professionals in the business.
