Authentic, very intriguing stop! Not to be missed! The Trading Post is also opening a museum at the site, to open mid-March, displaying original costumes from Dances with Wolves created by the owner, Cathy Smith. Also displayed is the Emmy she won for her authentic costumes in the movie. Her daughter, Jennifer Jesse Smith, jeweler, lives onsite and sells her works.

Interesting. Lots of lovely things but so were the prices. Outside was absolutely gorgeous with all the flowers and trees. Im sure it was a real authentic place to stop in its day. Unlike any other trading post Ive ever been to it was more artsy than commercial.

I so enjoyed my visit. My husband and I were there well over an hour visiting and checking out the authentic costumes from many famous Westerns and the jewelry by Jennifer Jesse Smith was wonderful. We did take home a copy of her art work, Smoke Em if You Got Em....and some great spices.

Neat place! Lots of cool things to look through including the costumes Cathy made for movies! Jennifer is a delight to talk to and it was such a welcoming atmosphere from the moment we got out of the car. Definitely worth stopping if you’re talking the high road to/from Taos.

Was VERY DISAPPOINTED to discover after unwrapping my Ledger Art by Cathy Smith that it art was actually done on a PHOTOCOPY OF A LEDGER PAGE! As I looked at the framed piece through the glass, Cathy pointed out the date in the 1800s. Well when I unwrapped the painting after returning home, we discovered that the Ledger page was just MODERN PHOTOCOPY PAPER. Behind the mat the painting had been taped to what may be original Ledger paper, no date. Bottom line the painting was MISREPRESENTED.
