Nice little museum! They pack a lot of interesting exhibits into a small space. My favorites were the naturalists cabinet collection and the beehive (easy to overlook, since they keep it covered with a cloth. The bees like it dark.)The docent was very friendly and informative. Cute gift shop, too.

All of the other reviews are right. This is a superb small museum, the staff is great and the exhibits frequently change. Apparently the schools all know it because a lot of teachers bring their classes here, even from as far away as San Jose. Be sure to look through the book and gift area. There are some excellent materials that are difficult to find anywhere, all relating to natural sights in the area.

This is a beautiful little museum right on the Santa Cruz coast, near the Boardwalk, the best beach to swim at, a cave you can travel through that leads to the beach where the boardwalk is, and a few fun and picture worthy statues litter the beautiful green-way that covers the grounds of the museum. The admission is cheap, and appropriate for the size of the museum, but it is absolutely worth dropping in on your weekend visit to the Santa Cruz coast.

Very small inside. A small touch tank aquarium and a sand table occupied the kids for about 45 minutes. Kids were free, and adults only $4, so we cant complain. Just dont expect this museum to take an entire day

This is a tiny but mighty museum. When I say tiny Im not kidding. Unlike the tardis it is way bigger on the outside then the inside. Once again Im not kidding-the outside grounds -which make a nice non beach pic nic spot-are more extensive then the inside parts. This is however a nicely interactive spot. If you have younger children age five on up this is decent spot for them to learn while playing a bit, but like any museum the older your children are the more they will get out of it. They have some fantastic school programs and the after hours events-astronaut meet and greets, lectures, art openings etc. are very much worth the time. If you an adult just passing through itll take about 20-30 minutes to go through everything including the whale sculpture and gift shop. If you are with children it can be double that.

Not awesome.. But definitely more exciting than I expected it to be. My kids are fortunately at the age where they were excited to explore the animals and cool natural history. We went to be able to park in there space next to the beach.. No lot but designated street parking... Although most people got a ticket for not noticing..They also have this life size whale sculpture out front that is amazing to realize the real life size...I enjoyed this Lil pass threw.

This museum is laden with local natural history. Dont let its small size fool you! They have exhibits covering everything from the indigenous tribes to the native animals and plants - both on land and in the bay. There is a touch tank, a fossil crate, a bone index, a wide array of native animals on display (mostly stuffed, although there are live bees in an enclosed hive, as well as a live snake), and a full room dedicated to the Ohlone people where you can learn about their traditions and history. The docents are friendly and knowledgeable, ready to answer any questions you may have. And theres a gift shop!
