Small venue so you can really enjoy the performance or concert. Walking distance from several good restaurants and quick bites.

Super friendly security, and ticket takers. Staff had friendly attitudes, seem to like their jobs. The auditorium has great acoustics. Stage is visible from all seats. Large floor for dancing. Concert goers can get very close to the stage to watch the band. Full bar for 21 and over. Shows for 16 up.

The local, and historical venue for the Santa Cruz County Symphony and other performing arts events. There have been many upgrades over the years that have improved the acoustics for the performances held here.

I only went there twice, once to the ballet, and once to a Beethoven Concert; I enjoyed them both. Whats interesting about this place is, you dont have to buy expensive tickets to get a relatively good view of the stage!

Ive been to 2 events here: Roller Derby and WWE NXT. Both were a blast!! The staff is always super nice and they have a decent food and drink selection. I left my phone there once and it was returned to the lost and found, I dont live in Santa Cruz so they worked with me to print out a label, package it up, and give it to a Fedex pickup person. It was above and beyond helpful! Thank you!!

A typical 1930s WPA style Civic auditorium. There is a stage for speakers, plays, and musicians. Although it is not large enough for the symphony which sets up on the floor in front of the stage. This is a concrete building designed for a wide variety on uses, so the acoustics leave much to be desired. There are local dance performances, flat track roller derby, overflow city council meetings, occasional plays, and many music concerts here.

It was nice to see Yuja live in concert. The drawback is that the acoustics in the auditorium arent too great. It was still an overall good experience.

This place is quite old, but was state of the art when it was built. Still a decent venue but i hate sitting up high because the stairs have no railings. It seems unsafe. Looking forward to the upcoming major remodel in the near future.

The Civic once was where I saw AC/DC, 0ingo Boingo, George Therogood, The Wailers (- Bob) rest of the group, and many many other bands. Now its The Derby Girls and the Twisted Tasting. The Civic provides whats needed for these kind of events effectively I feel. So I would attend other events hosted there and recommend others to do so.

The comedian, Bill Maher was fantastic but parking is alm ok st nonexistent. The auditorium is extremely difficult to sit anywhere but the floor. If you need to climb the stairs, it is very difficult for anyone with a disability. I was bent over almost in half trying to hold onto the backs of the chairs when an older gentleman came over to me and helped me get the rest of the way to my seat. Very steep stairs with not huh ing to hold onto. If it were not for that nice, wonderful gentleman I would have been in trouble not being able to get up or down.

Nice, vintage performing arts space, but a little old.

Je
Review №39

Good sound quality, but the stage is on the floor which means anyone in the orchestra beyond the first row has little to no chance of seeing the performer(s). I went for the Yuja Wang piano concert and the seats in the orchestra were too close together, the auditorium was hot, and I had virtually no view, even though I was on the left side in the 7th row, which are usually golden seats for a piano concert. Thankfully the music was exceptional.

Review №55

Im not sure why this place has high reviews, I guess it is purely based on nostalgia? The civic center is definitely a Santa cruz staple, everyone who lives in this town spent a lot of time in the civic. Santa cruz high basketball used to be here before the gym was built! The civic is old and outdated, in desperate need of renovation. I dont believe that just because Santa cruz is a small town that we shouldnt have nice venues for events. I do like that it is close to downtown and easy to access, there is also a good list.of events that happen here including the derby girls which we went to see tonight. The civic is definitely a great place to go in Santa cruz, I just wish that there could be work done to make it a bit nicer !

Bad customer service! Left voicemails to person who takes cares of prices to rent hall and she would never called me back. She only called me back once to just tell me that the day I was looking for was already taken but she thought I was talking about 2016 when I was interested in the hall for 2017 and she didnt bother to call me back! I called again and I asked receptionist if I can talk to someone else and she said no and I said Im very interested in ur hall but I dont get a call back? And she just said that she can leave a note but very rude that she hang up on me! All I wanted was to get a little bit of information about pricing and maybe renting the hall but they were very rude I will never considered to rent this hall after dealing with there bad customer service!
