Assigned seating is always nice! There arent that many theaters opened in the area due to shelter in place.Walking around/eating in downtown before movie is a great date idea!
Busy. Plan to pay to park at one of the nearby garages. Its $1 per hour to park. They never answer the phones at this theater. Managers are no where to be found. The associates are often overworked and the place is understaffed.I had a pleasant experience with some associates but not with the people who first helped me upon arrival. They were rude and unpleasant. Its expensive. Plan to spend about $100.00+ on one film for 2 adults and 4 kids plus snacks. (This will be more if you do not choose a matinee feature.) Also, purchasing tickets online will incur you more fees- about $10.00.Overall, Im underwhelmed. Ive had better experiences at theaters in Salinas.
Very clean and part of santa cruz history
Honestly things with the Regal are such a hit or miss everytime. First, I hate that when you try to get ahold of someone at the Santa Cruz location the phone rings and rings and then hangs up on you. I would rather listen to obnoxious elevator music on hold then just abruptly get hung up on. Second, was a little annoyed that my birthday freebies werent 100% honored. Granted only paying $1 for a LG soda wasnt bad (even if it is Pepsi ) but still if its in the description why cant you just honor it instead of fighting about it? Thirdly, is just a problem with the app itself. If you request a refund on a ticket because you accidentally picked the wrong show time it doesnt allow you to choose a different show time. It only shows me the same exact one I accidentally clicked on. My biggest issue was when my best friend and I were asked to open our tiny little bags to ensure there is no drugs or alcohol being brought in YET the huge group behind us with other females with much bigger purses or the countless people behind them were not checked. Please explain how that is supposed to make me feel okay? We stood on the side waiting for the rest of our group and watched as numerous people came up the stairs and escalators to check in and NONE were asked to open their bags. You guys were doing so well and then something just changed in the atmosphere there.
I Can Truley Say I Loved this Movie Theater.I Loved the Big Comfortable Chairs. This Theater is very well maintained.I had a great time.
If you try to buy tickets there, you have to wait in the concessions line - theres no separate ticketing area (and watch for the 18% convenience fee when you buy online). At 9:00 on a Friday, they only had three people working, one of whom barely knew how to use the terminal, and lines at least six parties deep and cycle times of 4+ minutes per customer. Totally, completely unacceptable.
I love the lounge chairs and how its a more private experience with only a handful of chairs in the theaters. Very very comfortable.
30 MINUTES OF PREVIEWS! Yes there’s comfortable lounge chairs, but come on, play the freaking movie! At least you have assigned seats, so for anyone not interested in sitting through the previews you can show up 30 mins after the showtime.
Most comfortable theater experience I have ever encountered. Handicap accessible, courteous service. Bathrooms clean. Sofa recliner style seats.
5 stars for aisle spacing and the comfiest seats of any theatre Ive been to. Minus two stars for having so many previews and snack prices. 30 minutes of ads is a bit much, and $8 for the smallest popcorn was a deal breaker. I wanted popcorn, but for that price Ill just smuggle it in instead.
Great theatre! The recliner chairs are amazing. Also very spacey. Love it!
Very nice theater. Spacious lobby. Ordered food that would take a few minutes so they delivered to me in theater! Great service. Comfortable large reclining seats. Definitely way to watch a movie!
Incredibly comfortable theater with plush recliners. A fun place to enjoy a movie. They dont however play particularly great movies dash just the run-of-the-mill pulling money for Hollywood movies. Except, that they do get the simulcasts from the met which are wonderful. It would be nice if their food service had some healthy options
Fairly comfortable seating. Often when told the seats were already reserved they remained empty. OUTRAGOUS concession prices. Now that the outside box office closed we must wait and wait in line until the understaffed concession stand serves all the patrons waiting for the overpriced food. Response to these comments is disgusting. Canned and hollow. Money money money. The mantra of Regal theaters everywhere. Avoid at all costs!
I love the assigned seating, I love the reclining leather seats but theyre now funneling all transactions through concessions. That means tickets or food youre going to be standing in a big line. I find that arrangement to be sub-optimal.
Big lounge chair seats and reserved seating in all theaters. Main stream Hollywood films, 3D, and great sound. The usual selection of movie theater food: hot dog, pop corn, candy and soft drinks. You can buy tickets online in advance. If driving, you must pay for public parking, but there are two multistory lots nearby.
Love the seat reservation system, plus comfortable seats and friendly staff
My favorite place
Comfortable seats and no issues. We were satisfied. We had dinner before so we did not try any of their snacks, cant tell you how they are.
Great place to see a movie. Luxurious seats and great food.
You cant buy Tickets before entering the Theater but as soon as you set foot inside they ask you for your ticket. Doesnt make sense.
Horrible experience. They were short- handed, so there was a huge line to buy tickets and concessions. Then one of the young girls who came in to help was extremely rude. Then we find out that they have NO straws and no sugar. We go to our seats and find spilled soda and popcorn kernels on them, so the theater obviously had not been cleaned between showings. Then I discovered that my soft pretzel that I bought was stale because it had been sitting on their counter for awhile. The clerk didn’t even get me a fresh one. Won’t ever go to that theater again unless I have to!
The 30 minutes of previews make it more difficult to pay for parking i did not take that into consideration when paying for parking i thought 2 hours would be OK .The way you have to buy tickets at the concision stands results in a long wait for buying tickets it was about 10 minuets.
Love the recliner seats! Fun food options. Great big clean bathroom. Amazing entrance.
Wonderful theater that has huge comfortable seating and interesting food options but what really made the experience for me was the friendly staff. A worker named Tyler was extremely friendly and helpful when it came to deciding which movie to see based on his recommendations.
Great seats, good sound, but OMG the commercials are aggravating and * banal. 30 freaking minutes of it. 17:30h movie started at 18:00h. Yeah okay seats recline, but come on, half an hour? Just ugh!*SAT word, youre welcome ;-)
Nice Theater with lounge seats, but tickets in evening are over $12! CineLux & Green Valley tickets are less expensive
Great we saw the joker, a little $$ but its been a while that I havent been to the cinema, super clean, comfortable big chairs, nice AAA
I love the seats in this movie theater!! Those are really comfortable!
Nice theater. Recliner Lounge chairs.
Huge recliner seats, nice screens. Booking seats online is essential for popular movies. Mainstream movies mostly, for art house flicks go elsewhere.
Great place to go and relax and enjoy a movie. Love it and the whole experience was Awesome!
Great downtown location. The food prices are OUTRAGEOUS! Can’t even get a Coke for almost $6 (small is HUGE). Popcorn starts at $7 and goes up from there. Movie prices are already at the high end and their reclining seats are all mechanical. To lift the foot rest takes a lot of hand strength and to lock it down, you better practice you’re back kick!
Great seats, pretty clean, sound is good but snack bar could be better.
Hey its an average, modern movie theater, peopled by an average crowd of young people and the retired. I have been searched going in for no reason and have had an occasional run in with a snotty employee. But the selection of snacks is good and I dont go to hang out with their employees. So I still go and I dont hate it.
Very generous size seats with recliner features. Super comfortable. Dont sit in the front row or actors faces look distorted!
Downtown Santa Cruz, fun for the family theatre with the latest movies and throw backs mixed in too. Huge food area. Street level ticket booth for purchases and very cool entryway. Ride escalators or hike the stairs to the theatre level. Either way it’s a nice theatre look. Lots of bathrooms. Ask about an elevator, They must have one but I didn’t notice it.
Smaller than my home town theater but very clean and a great experience
Manager was chill about changing our seats. Then he handled an obnoxious patron deftly. If only the movie had been better...
Expensive snacks but good reward program
The primary reason to come to this theatre is the super comfy leather recliners. However, the other perks are purchasing online as reserving your favorite chair early, the place is large, clean and located very near a double decker parking lot that has more than enough space. There are restaurants, coffee teas shops, etc. The only bad mark about this place is the wait in the line for snacks.
Nice theater. Comfortable seats. Great movie toystory 4.Only bad. Make sure the adult you sit next to keeps quiet. Never stopped talking the time.
The new seats are awesome just the location is a hike depending on where you can get parking...other than that the staff are nice and they have a decent variety of snack options.
Santa Cruz Cinema 9 is an excellent movie theater. For additional comfort, enjoy the pullout lounge chairs. The surround audio system makes your experience that much more incredible and relaxing.
Its your typical movie theater. The layout is kinda weird tho. You have to buy tickets inside now.
More that comfortable seats, wonderful staff and in a beautiful area. The only place I consistently go to for watching anything on the big screen. The snacks come in a wide selection and the popcorn is always perfectly buttered.
Such a cool theater! Had to be the best one Ive ever been too! The seat are amazing. My 3 year old daughter slept in me the entire movie which was great because I was basically laying down. So comfy and being able to pick your seats was awesome too!!
Like the theaters, ppl are nice and welcoming. Just wish the volume sound were be a bit higher! But overall love it!
Quick troubleshooting tonight after film wouldnt play in originally scheduled theater. Thanks!
Plays all the popular movies and has the best seats of any theater Ive ever been in. The th have individual recliners for each viewer. The tickets are a little pricey at like $13.50 for adults but its worth every cent. Its also very the easy to sneak food into.
You can pick you seats in advance. They have super comfortable seats.
Great place to watch a movie. Clean and up to date. Our chairs reclined and had a foot rest. The large buckets of popcorn were so huge.Picture was good and the sound quality was nice but not too loud.Be sure to pay close attention to seating chart, seating is 2x2 units and are separate from each other. We ended up with a larger space between us than usual because that was what we choose when we bought tickets. We will go to the movies here again
Very large theater in Down Town Santa Cruz in the heart of Pacific Avenue. There is no parking lot. Only metered parking on the street. There is a parking garage nearby. This theater usually plays a good selection of all of the mainstream movies and blockbusters that are out but not independent films. Its an older theater but not vintage-like, more like an 80s feel. Its clean and the staff are friendly. Get there a little early because the lines can get a little long during prime-time hours.
There should be movie titles at the different theater entryways. They sent us to the wrong one and sat through the trailers only to be in the wrong place. No signage anywhere. Redeemed themselves with a comp ticket. Thanks..
Concession stand under staffed. When new attendant appeared, she didn’t request next in long line to come to her station. Instead people from behind us, ran over to her station leaving us in a seven-person lineup. By the time our line diminished the show had started.Supervisor was on hand but was ‘busy’ ‘helping’ latest attendant. He could see there were at least 30 people waiting to be served and SHOULD have opened another station.I was NOT impressed.
Comfy seats. Not too crowded. Loved it
Dont plan on arriving just as your movie starts. They sell tickets at concessions, so expect a long wait in line, even if youre not snacking.
Always great with kids and Experience
The downtown Regal is the only movie theater in Santa Cruz County for me. Big reclining seats are super comfortable, and its super easy to just walk down the aisle without that awkward pardon me, excuse me, sorry that you have to deal with in most movie theater seating.
Love the recliner seat. Helpful staff and respectful audience made for great movie day.
Nice location with nearby parking
I like this theater downtown nice seating large seats and they had the latest
This place is awesome. We went in the evening and it was perfect, not busy at all. The staff was very helpful with a little seat selection mix up. Nice little cinema for Santa Cruz.
My favorite theater to go to!
Best seats in town!
Since it was a smaller theater than Im used to I wasnt expecting a grand theater, but they had spacious leg room, recliner individual sofas, a great experience, prefer this over the older theater on the street.
Awesome location. Super cute
Liked how all the seats were how you could kick back
Wasnt a fan of this theater. The movie had issues playing so we finished all of our popcorn while they finally figured it out. The seats were like sitting in an auditorium looking at a screen. All seats were level dont know if thats the case for all theater rooms but the one I went in was a little weird setup.
Super comfy seats and super friendly staff. Since its Santa Cruz after, I would like to see a wider selection of snack options.
Decent theatre. The chairs are very comfy. Food is expensive as typical of a theatre
I like this place, they have clean bathrooms nice seats and great service
Ive been to galaxy theaters and so far no theater has been able to beat their seats. Putting that aside, this place is great to watch movie premieres and movies in general. The employees are friendly, and this place has sweet deals if you get the club card which is free!
Clean, big, comfortable chairs, love big screen, remind me when I went to movies as a kid.
Standard good movie theater, VERY friendly people
I loved the reclining chairs! It was so comfortable to watch my movie.
Theater was not cleaned after previous show. We went to our seats and there was chips all over one of our seats and the other had sweaty butt cheek marks and ball sweat on the seat. We looked around and a lot of the seats were not cleaned, let alone the floor. Luckily, there were little to no other people, we moved and even though the other seats we got were not sweaty, they werent clean either.
I love the fantastic reclining seats & wide arm rests. & its great to have space in front of them so you can easily walk past the other patrons. Obviously youve lost hundreds of seats, overall, & I hope its appreciated. I dont often like the type of movies playing there, so Im thrilled when there is one!! The few times Ive gone the ticket sellers are very accommodating, explaining the seating clearly & patiently to first time patrons.
The staff is oh so friendly.
Seats are way to close to the screen! No parking validation.
Classic theater. Great seating.
Whats the great movie theater, I enjoy going here.
Great place to see a movie or two, but sometimes people leave it a mess after. Plus the prices are out rages for popcorn and a drink. I mean really? The cheapest ingredents for the max $$$
Choosing seats kind of suck because the theaters will only have the awful seats open and people will be super late to the movie. Other than that, it’s a pretty nice theater. It’s expensive but it’s a nice place to go with friends or just watch a movie alone too.
Very comfortable and plush theater. Our streaming video quit in the middle and even though they didnt have to, they not only refunded the movie but also gave us free passes. This is the way you make repeat customers.
Every theater now has recliners in place of regular seats. Sit back and relax in comfort. Space between recliner is ample, making the experience more pleasant. Snacks are reasonably priced compared to other theaters.
Very slow line to get in. Uncomfortable reclining seats. Theater pretends to be high end and charges high end prices but its cheesy. Plus they dont sell beer...weak sauce.
The seats were really comfy, and there werent any noticable blemishes on the screen
The reclining seats make it all the more awesome. As with any cinema you need a second mortgage to buy any food or drink, but nice and clean and big. Downside of the attendants coming in 2-3 times during your film with red lights can be a little distracting.
Incredibly comfortable seats, delicious popcorn and great atmosphere. 3D movie was also very impressive
Awesome comfy seats and clean. I wish the pizza was better and that popcorn was layered with butter (rather than just being on the top), but those are minor issues.
A good quality cinema with the latest big releases and very comfortable reclining seats. Theres enough food variety, but its not the main attraction. The fidelity program is also very beneficial to frequent costumers.
Great movie theater very comfortable seats I saw avengers infinity war
Best movie experience ever with delux lounging seats! No longer want to go anyplace else for a movie. No crowds, easy parking and nice snack selection.
This is our go-to theatre in Santa Cruz. If its not playing here, we probably wont go. All the theatres have recliner seats with big arm rests. The theatre is usually very clean, and the staff is nice. Concession is no more over priced than any other theatre. The best part is their app that lets you buy tickets and skip the lines.
I discovered halfway through the movie you can lift the middle arm rest and cuddle easier with the person next to you. Hopefully you know them before you cuddle. Enjoy your movie!
It’s okay. The popcorn is pretty pricey. It lacks in the fact that they only have a small option of food choices. Other regal theaters have things like mozzarella sticks. I also so a worker heat up the mini corn dogs in the microwave. HE GOT THEM FROM THE BACK, AND THEY CAME IN A ZIPLOC BAG. GROSS.
Comfortable reserved seats and a prime spot downtown. Average prices. The speakers seemed a little low this most recent visit but otherwise no complaints.
