Worth going! Best with big parties but obviously kinda hard with covid. But k1 does a great job with sanitation and allowing us to enjoy this fun activity! Cant wait to cone back! Undefeated #1 !
Same format as before the covid. The main difference is that all of the arcade games are shut down. This is mainly a problem if you are attending a kids birthday party there and not all of the kids are tall enough to race.
Its fun but it really bummed me when they said that I could not record my ride, my party ( people with me ) where fine with me recording and even asked me to record. So I brought my go back pro for nothing and I even brought my own helmet with a go pro attachment so no adhesive would be left on their already beat up helmets I am very disappointed. Please improve your rules
Pros:1. Staff is a little relaxed and are not super strict about you bumping into cars. Probably because it was all teens2. We got to keep our trophies for free when we finished3. Had decent waiting times in between our runs so that we could recover and race again4. They have good stats and lap time countersCons:1. Lanes are too narrow and you cannot pass unless you hit people2. Some cars were slower than others ( they are also electric )3. Its slightly difficult to fasten helmets as they dont have latches
Karts are in good condition. The staffs are very professional, giving us enough time to be familiar with the track. They controlled the throttle limit, but for a good will, since some drivers may not be driving properly. They are trying their best to keep everyone safe.I think I will come back on week days to lap a little bit more. Very nice experience!
My 13 year old twin brothers love this place... its fun. They feel like theyre in a NASCAR race...Great environment also...
Racing was fun! We were disappointed by their scheduling policy. Races are scheduled to best utilize their business which made our group wait for 1.5 hours. Groups that came after us were able to race earlier as they had less people. Every person has to register at the computers before waiting in line to get a membership card. Signup kiosks are hard to notice and you might spend some time in line before realizing that you need to sign up before waiting. Staff inside the arena was helpful but the lady working at the counter was rather rude when we complained about the wait time. As other reviews state, they can control the speed and would stop the race in between if they feel something is wrong or may be for no reason. That kills the thunder! There is a small eatery inside which offers drinks too. Cool place to host a small team event.
Had a great time, fast carts and large track
The karts are electric and the speeds are governed. I purchased 5 races and did 2 races. My first race was great the kart was at full power. The second race my kart never had full power and people were just blazing past me. I was pretty mad. I did not get refund either! I regret buying 5 races! If your bringing your kids here then theyll have fun. But if youre an enthusiast and an adult its best to avoid this place!!!!
Great Indoor Kart Center! The karts are all electric and have a good amount of power. The track could have a little bit more of straight parts to overtake other drivers - but overall it’s a great place for going with work colleagues or friends!
Been here several times with mixed results. Sometimes had no issues, other times it was too much hassle. Prices are not cheap and rarely can you use a coupon/Groupon.Don’t expect to walk-in 1 hr before closing as they don’t accept even though it wasn’t busy at all. They no longer allow Snapchat glasses nor GoPro’s even with proper secure mounts. At least provide a service that we can buy to record the memory!
I went here with a coworker to race some carts on a weekday. They werent very busy but they were only putting ~6-8 carts out at a time instead of the whole row so we had to wait 45 minutes or so for other races. When it was our turn I got a cart in the back of the row, meaning it was a cart that went out 4 races before us. Everyone else had a cart that was charged for at least double the amount of time. My cart was powerful and fun to race for about 3 laps then it started to die off. It kept getting slower and it got so bad by the end of the race other carts were doing double my speed and I was worried someone would hit me from behind. They need to replace the batteries or get more carts so they can charge longer, mine couldnt go anywhere near a full race.I walked away feeling scammed.EDIT: in response to the owner, I highly doubt my cart was slowed down for safety reasons. Beyond me not doing any of the things you mentioned, my cart very slowly reduced speed over 4+ laps, and this happened to at least one other cart I saw that was also near the back of the row (whose cart wouldve had less time to charge like mine)
We had our company team outing here. Staffs were friendly and very helpful. This is a good place to go if your team is looking for a team building activity. Our team spent two rounds of racing. First race was a qualifier. In the end we got awarded 1, 2 and 3rd palces through average times of all laps on our second race.Everybody in the team gets to race twice. All the cars are electric so you dont have the smoke smell coming out of combustion engine! All the cars are properly charged before your ride. It does not go as fast as streets, but you would feel the power in those small tracks.Warning: If you purposefully bump into others, they will speed limit you and everyone in on the track through staffs remote control.
Great fun, place kept up well and the cars were in good condition also. This site tends to get busy especially with corporate events which kills the waiting time. Staff was ok, seen better at Dublin location. Juniors drive separate to adults and have different cars. They serve food also onsite (did not try). Helmets and head mask provided and before you ride they ask you to empty your pockets out so nothing falls on the track during the race. They have lockers also if you want to rent.
So they had both restroom shut down talking about there plumbing was bad. The girl at the front desk tells me that all the employees here just have to hold it if they have to go..wow! I was born at night, but not last night. Then few mins later one of the employees go in and the restroom. Service sucks!
Awesome facility and friendly staff. Karts and track are in good condition, but the helmets could use some updating.
We booked two races on the same day and were told to expect a wait time of 25 minutes in-between the two races. This turned out to be a gross misrepresentation, after waiting for 50 minutes we asked to get our second race refunded. Ryan the manager told us that it is physically impossible to refund our money. He was also quite confrontational and tried to make it seem like we were the ones in the wrong, saying that the wait time is only an estimate. In the end, he admitted K1 was at fault but still refused to give us a refund. We eventually had to wait 65 minutes instead of the estimated 25.We were also told that we signed a waiver so we had no right to demand a refund. I recommend bringing a lawyer with you if you’re going here.On another note, none of the races had a safety briefing at the start. They just expected you to know what all the flags and signs meant. My seat belt wasn’t even checked before the race. This is extremely irresponsible given that so many young children go to this establishment.Overall, this was by far the worst go Karting experience I’ve had. The customer service this establishment provides is extremely poor and tarnishes the K1 reputation. A simple “we’re sorry” would’ve done just fine; the lack of compassion we received instead ruined our experience. Not going back.P.S ignore the management’s response to this review. They are liars. Plain and simple. We were never offered any sort of refund and there was no safety briefing. Unlike what they suggest. Disgraceful behaviour.
Best thing to do is to get at least 8 people in your party. Under 8 people and they dont do group reservations which means you need to arrive early to make sure you arent waiting for over an hour. The track is pretty fun but you really dont ever need to take your foot off the peddle when taking turns. Food options are pretty limited so eat something beforehand.
This establishment has the potential to be 5 starts but the karts keep malfunctioning or batteries die in the middle of the racing. Some of the staff is nice and some are not very engaging. Plan on waiting all day just to race unless you book a birthday party $$$.
Probably good for beginners. Dont recommend for enthusiasts. Karts are electric and governed remotely based on staffs discretion. Most laps end up being slowed down. Leads to inconsistent racing experience. Would be good if they had an option for more experienced drivers.
Great place for go kart driving. Fast enough for a lot of fun. Friendly staff. I recommend to friends for good fun.
Almost impossible to get a full lap in without them slowing the karts, so dont come here to beat your time. Still fun with groups and casual races. Expect a 2-3 hour wait on the weekends.
It was thrillingly fun for all people and most ages. The karts are simple to work, and easy to pick up. Its safe and painless and you leave the building with much higher self esteem, whether you placed high or not.
It is too dangerous to go karts there. I went there last year and had a bad accident. Two cars ran over my back. My arm and back got serious injured. It took me more than 1 month to recover. The kart car is shaking and not easy to control the speed. I dont think normal people can handle it well in racing. For racing car, it needs better protection and safety guards. Otherwise, you should have lower speed limit.
Ambience: surrounding is good, parking area is there outside, nicely organized chairs/sofasHygiene: restrooms were good, surroundings were cleanTaste: they have a cafe bar types thing at the corner was looking good but unfortunately couldnt have there anythingActivities: it was fun out there, better you go out with the huge team out therePrice: 60$ per person for 1lapService: overall service was goodDrawback:U need to wait atleat 1 hour for your chance, a single lap will be of 10 min only
Fun place to spend time at. Went for a friends bday there at 11pm. The staff wasnt good there while booking we said well be a party of 12-14 people, only 12 people came but they charged us for 14 people.
Great place to get out and let off some steam. Came here with a group of 12 and had a great time. The track was well maintained and the staff was great. Had a good time!
I went here with co-workers and I LOVED it! The person that applied my wristband took SUCH GREAT care to not catch any arm hair in the sticky part of the wrist band. I’ve had many wristbands applied to my wrists over the years but this was BY FAR the best!As you can see in the attached pictures, I have very hairy arms but that wasn’t a problem for the talented and skilled wristband applier at K1. She used this technique of attaching the two ends slightly offset and then folding it over to itself. It’s difficult to describe but, trust me, IT WORKS!I will definitely come back again and again! Thanks, K1!
Th is place is rocking! Great way to burn off some steam while putting the pedal to the metal because you cant do it legally on city streets. Get your heart rate up. Pack of three races $42 midweek. Totally worth it. Kids love it. Fun for the whole family or with friends and coworkers. Heck, go solo, too!
It was my first time being here and I had a lot of questions but the cashiers were too busy on their cell phones and talking with coworkers and when I did ask a question I had a short answer and went back to Cell phone and talking some guy very unprofessional. Poor customer service
Great place for some afternoon team building fun. We were walk-ins and the wait time was not relatively bad. The track is a bit small and hard to pass individuals.Would like it better if there was an easier way of knowing when your race would be next instead of waiting outside hoping to be called on.
Only reason its 4 stars because they control speed. The first round I was limited then second round I was full power! If I would of known depending on whos going young/experienced etc then I would of waited for adults/experienced since its same price. I wanted to have practice round get use to gas and break but with the first round being limited some what was disappointing. Other then that great time with nefew whos visiting from Texas because hes in the army. Great times nef!
We patiently waited for our turn. We bought our races the same way people usually do, but due to a corporate event our turn was pushed back by 4 more races. We were already waiting for 30 minutes when they told us about the new people who are racing before us. This sucks. They should be sensitive about the times of their other customers. Not only that but a couple of their staff are very rude too.
This is an awesome place for kids and adults. It’s just a shame that they haven’t done a good job training staff on customer service skills. I did a walk-in with 4 junior boys and was told it would be at least an hour before we could race...no apologies, no “glad you’re here, we have a few other races scheduled before we can fit you in”. Coupons we had wouldn’t work for a multiple race package. It just seemed like it was a burden to have us come in. There were no smiles, no friendly greetings. I love this place but I certainly wasn’t made to feel welcome. I was going to race to but decided against it after the service. Pretty sad...
Awesome place!!! Kids love it!!! Bring the gang and you will have a blast! Make reservation in advance, or waiting can be long...
My boyfriend has a k1 speed license. Very cool. But he recently learned that it expired after one year. Maybe four years ago. This was a huge disappointment to us, as we were hoping to go racing again soon. Still a five star establishment but we won’t be going any time soon :(
Had a great time here with my coworkers. Turning a decent laptime has a lot to do with the speeds of the other drivers. On a Wednesday evening Oct/2019 we only waited a few minutes and we were called to the track. Would totally race here again!
All over the website they will have words like walk-in and race or arrive and drive but that is misleading. When we came we told the wait was 3.5 hr. I asked the staff how do people walk-in then, and they said, they walk-in, reserve and come later. This in simply stupid. Its an easy problem to solve. You should have an online reservation system, if not that, a simple online wait list option like Yelps, if not that, atleast mention on the website the average wait times.
Great spot for Karting if you want something more akin to competition Karting. Karts are fast and the track is pretty good.
Wasted my time coming here. There’s no one answering the phone so I decided to stop by with my kid. Booked for the whole day with birthdays. Could of answered the phone. I called three times. There’s no way to tell if any junior races are available online or anywhere else. My kid was super bummed. Thanks dude. All star staff member...
K1 Santa Clara is one of my favorite places to go with my son. We always have a great time racing! Jared was our race coordinator for our last session of the day and he gave us the green flag and we got to push the limits of those exciting electric carts. A day we will remember for many years to come. We will definitely be going back as much as we can.
Great place for kids to hang out, but long wait time after you check in.
Good place for relaxing. The place is a little small for big group more than 10 people.
This is a place where you wait hours and only see others race. Horrible experience with the staff here. Was very rude and made us wait for 2 hours. Will recommend this place for people to test their patience and probably meditate.
If you have kids that wants to do the junior race, good luck as who knows what little priority they give to this age group. We came in around lunch time and was told best junior race is at 5:30pm and was advised to come back at 5pm to be safe. Guess what the kids turn didnt happen until 6:30pm. You know you cant run a tight ship and keep schedules, why are you asking people to come so early? What a bunch of morons. A place not friendly to kids.
Hate how they limit the speed of the cars. Not as fun as gas powered go-karts. They use the excuse of clean driving but thats not true. They limit you no matter what. That simple.
Great place for team building and the staff are awesome and very helpful. I was little disappointed that the go kart speed is very slow in our final race. You need request then to increase the speed otherwise it is so slowAnd boring.
I have to say hows the big fan of Malibu and the castle in redwood City. R.I.P. but k1 speed most definitely got it going. They host different events they try to bring people. Fantastic time for all. Will be going back soon.
Went here one afternoon with a friend and it was awesome! Racing was super fun and adrenalin-pumping, and the cars really do go fast. Once you find your strategy and get comfortable, you wont be letting go of the gas pedal.Only complaint is that their online ordering system isnt great. First, anyone that is ordering online needs to be aware that you need a membership, even if you only race one time. In my experience, the website does not make this very clear, and we had to pay for the membership in cash when we got there. Additionally, my conformation did not arrive by email, and I had to go and figure it out with the front desk.Other than that, this place was very enjoyable.
All the kids at my grand sons birthday party had a great time. I would recommend it for a fun time for all ages.
Karts are fast. Good track. Friendly employees. Pretty expensive though for the amount of time of entertainment.
Great experience, really fun, but he prepared to wait around more than an hour if you walk in.
Came for two races one cut short, employees race and speeds are skewed. Couldn’t even go a race without a malfunction, one on the part of the employees not plugging the cart in. The other malfunction was a missing wheel. Employees are largely untrained and have poor customer service skills. Although it may be inexpensive, you’d be better off going to an actual motorway to race.
I race here everyday. the staff is great and very friendly. karts are good but they do need tlc. lots of people come in with bumper car mentality and the karts get beat on...some cry about racers being too fast, well ya should have gone and done something else like join a reading club. its a race track!, to race. its a good place to improve your Karting skills and practice getting faster. food is getting upgraded and just starting to serve beer. cheers!
If you go there with your family you will not be disappointed!
If planing a event ( kids party) the pizza good!
Fun place, Would have given 5 if not for receptionist and another employee at cars...
EDIT: Seven 1 or 2 star reviews on Google for this K1 Location in the past week alone! All complaining about the terrible customer service and the sense that customers are being an imposition on the staff. You will feel ripped off when you leave and shocked by staff rudeness while you are at the location. Dont make the same mistake I did -- dont give them your patronage!ORIGINAL REVIEW: Atrocious customer service by highly unprofessional people who closed over half an hour early and refused my partys business. I arrived at 9:29 PM and I was rudely informed that we were not going to be able to race, despite having closing hours posted as 10 PM. I got my phone out and showed the front desk the time but only received rolled eyes and tremendously rude, curt, and annoyed responses. I was told by the woman working at the desk that it would be too much work for them to let us race. Is that not what theyre paid for? I brought my two cousins in from out of state and drove 45 minutes to get there. Totally unacceptable. Not my first negative experience with their rude staff either, as the other time I visited I was promptly kicked out and rudely told that the private party on the other side of the warehouse specifically requested nobody else be allowed in. Its not that I was asked to stand outside, it was the way the staff made me feel like I was being dumb and trespassing for entering their establishment at all, despite no visible sign, which was face down on the ground when I arrived and never fixed. About a dozen people were forced to wait outside, all in shock over how rude the staff had been. The woman next to me said she had called in advance and had been told to come at that time. We were all laughing at how terrible the staff was treating us like cattle -- it was that bad. When you do actually get on the track, the staff doesnt flag slow cars or engage with the ongoing race at all. The staff lets too many people on the track so you are constantly stuck in a traffic jam and dont feel like you are truly racing or capable of posting a low lap time. An employee even admitted the track is slippery and the carts are trash.Dont waste your money here! Go hiking, go on a picnic, go bowling, go to an arcade, stay home and watch a movie -- anything but K1 Speed!
We went there with 8 people, driving 3 rounds. They slowed us down for half of the time on round 2 & 3, without telling us what was going on. Driving was no challenge/fun during the slow laps.Apparently we were riding too aggressively, but no attention was given from the guys looking after the karts, no flags were shown and no feedback was giving after round 2.When we complained after round 3 we got told patronisingly that we have to earn our speed by the manager. He seemed to have forgotten that were paying customers and not using his service due to his goodwill. Not coming back.
The only reason why I will give them 2 stars is because one of the front cashier girls was very rude when she would speak to customers. She wouldn’t smile or greet any of them and neither look at customers in the eyes when she would talk to them. I noticed all of this in a 25 minute waiting period before my party and I where up to race. Other than that everything else is amazing. I really hope that management retrains their front cashier staff in to being more welcoming and making customers feel comfortable while having an amazing experience.
A three star review was do to the long wait, took my son there for his birthday on a Monday. waiting so long he didnt get to use his 3rd racing due to it getting late. second reason the lady controlling the cars on out second time out didnt turn the cars up till the last lap due to talking to coworkers
A lot of fun when the race marshals dont speed limit your karts. We had 3 sessions today. While the first two sessions are fairly exciting, our group had been speed limited to speed 3 instead of speed 4 (apparently the full speed) for the entire 3rd race. It completely ruined the fun for us and the manager refused to give us a rerun.
Came here for a birthday and has a blast. Staff was quick and we got to racing without too much of a wait time
This race car K1 is awesome. We had our company Christmas gathering. I didn’t race the cars and let my daughter drive! Unfortunately I was not having a good skin day and did not feel like getting make up all over my helmet. After I agreed to let her do it I came to realize that they give you a face mask to put on under the helmet so have no fear ladies. The food there was mediocre and kind of pricey. But K-1 racing is pricey but well worth it. All our employees had a great time and my daughter absolutely loved it. I took all the pictures and videos for the company since I did not want to race. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has kids, a company gathering, teenagers and adults to have fun. From what I heard from the guys it’s a little rough on the body everyone complained of soreness so it’s pretty intense.
Terrible experience with the counter staff. I typically dont review places but the lines and misdirection wasted 45 mins of family time.
This is a great experience especially if you are new to racing. My nephews enjoyed their time especially when theyre trying to learn how it feels to drive for real instead of video games. the service was great and the employees were helpful explaining the rules of the track. Since the go karts are electric, they can be safely turned off automatically by the employee when theres an accident on the track.
Great fun! But the narrow track and identical speed of the cars makes passing/overtaking quite a challenge.
The wait time was well worth the behind the wheel experience and the prices were kinda high but worth it
The track is pretty good, and the cars are peppy as well. They give you a good feeling of pushing a go kart to the edges. The hosts are not very considerate of making this a real F1 environment. They also control the max speed of the cars, and so they often limit the speed of the cars. It took all the fun away, when driving in a controlled environment.
Nice track and karts, but dont bring your kids here. At this moment there are 20 kids here that have been waiting 2 hours to race. Four adult races have run in a row, lots of repeat drivers in each. Youd think they would run adult-kid-adult-kid when there is a lobby slammed full if children and parents waiting, but no.It would be a 4 star joint, but not worth waisting an entire weekend afternoon and $20+ so your kids can drive for 10 minutes. There are other options that are more respectful of customers time.
This place rocks. The only place I know that allows kids under 58 to race by themselves. Adults go separately, safe.
Good place to hangout..if you want to unwind k1 is the place..
They change cars top speed while you are driving. So you cant learn how to drive in the lap. Never coming back.
We went a my kids had so much fun
Very bad experience. Read reviews in Yelp before you visit this place. The staff need to be trained, so that they can be friendly with customers. They also need better management skills to run this place efficiently. We were given approximate wait time of 90 min, but we had to wait for more than 3 hours. When we tried to order food the manger Said, “we have a very small oven in our kitchen and it will take more than 60min to prepare the order”.They don’t value your time and business.Don’t spoil you time and moose here.
The staff here are so rude. It was or first time here, got no instructions, and were blamed for not knowing how to drive around the track. When we explained that it was our first time, we were simply yelled at for not letting them know. I mean, no one asked! We’re not the employees! They would stop our carts and just yell, “this is your last warning! We’ll take you out the next time!” in our faces
Im going to be completely honest, I used to enjoy to going to K1 Speed as much as i could, but unfortunately I cant believe how ghetto K1 speed has become. The karts are in terrible conditions to be fairly honest, the ride on most of the carts are shaky and uncomfortable as hell, the tires are extremely worn out, the karts break down so easily that it jams the whole race, making it boring at times and the WORST PART is that certain karts at controlled by the people who are in charge of the races, setting the other karts in speeds that arent even fast enough to be fun. Very slow karts in my opinion. The customer service is now awfully terrible, the waiting times for races are way too long and its not even worth waiting 30-45 minutes of my time to hop in a race. I wouldnt spend my money in racing at K1 Speed anymore until the service improves. I would rather spend my money building my own go-kart and having fun with it, at least it wont break down like these electric K1 Speed go-karts. Please dont go to this place, you will WASTE your time, and you will very disappointed with how terrible this place is.
Fun date night! Something new and interesting and they also serve a variety of beverages (including beer) and food inside.Cons: the staff was not very friendly and not helpful when we asked questions. They seemed rather annoyed when we needed something. They limit the speeds sometimes and my car so clearly needed repairs. The first race, the pedals slipped to the tallest levels and I couldnt drive or accelerate mid race. The second race, my steering wheel got stuck and I couldnt effectively turn. I told the staff member about my experience with the 2 cars so they could repair it and they were very unapologetic about it.
Great Fun for kids and adults. Actual time in a real go kart. They only have the ability for kids to race at certain times of the day so be sure to call ahead of time to find out.
Somehow they control the speed on the carts, some carts go faster than others,I was full throttle and others were passing me
Time for some new helmets! All of them have broken and missing vents. Each one I checked seemed to smell like butt too. The guy offered to spray Lysol in but that sounds like it’d need a bit to air out and we didn’t have time so I had to just bear it. Maybe if you had spare helmets so they could be sprayed and have time to air out between races?
The actual racing is pretty fun, but there are some crucial problems. The employees decide the speed of each individual car, meaning some cars will be faster than others. Of course, this provides an unfair advantage. Also, when my family was racing when it was slow, a couple employees decided to race and their cars were a lot faster than mine (my car was probably the slowest in that race, even if I was flooring it while going straight others would still pass me). Seeing others go faster than you takes a lot of fun out of it.
Too expensive to little time and always stopping mid race
Cars are slow. People who run them could have been nicer
My son LOVES K1 Speed! The employees are always helpful and kind to my son (who has Autism & ADHD) and our family when we are here! Expensive but what isnt these days! All in all its totally worth it because my son wants to be a Race Car Driver someday!
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
Disappointed. I bought three sessions. The karts lost battery power and fell on their faces half way through two out of the three sessions. The staff waits much too long to turn the karts up to full power (maybe to save their fleet of dead batteries?) The track is a flat-out parade lap except for one corner. After my kart died twice I was given only one free credit (hence the two stars, rather than one). I dont think I will go back to use it (snooze!). K1 is a great place for beginners. It is quiet, and there are none of the fumes of gas power, but if you are serious about sharpening your driving skills, then dont waste your money here - get to LeMans.
@Mitch Rasmussens review is simply the opposite of my experience. The racing was engaging, and the karts were fast enough that the fear of impending death will keep you on your toes. Highly recommend for a team bonding activity as you will not need to bond with anyone, and you can bump people you dont want to see into a wall. Incredibly cathartic. 10/9 would do again.
Go early in the day if you want Juniors to drive. The wait for adults usually isnt long. 15 to 20 minutes per race. Only wish they actually told us when the race officially begins. Just start driving as fast you can once on track.
Couldnt go two races without malfunctioning of and both races had to be cut down in time because of it. The customer service is garbage. They give the regulars speed boosts and mess with the speed of the other karts. Also, the reasons for the karts malfunctioning during the races was truly unacceptable. In The first race one of the karts wheels fell off and the in the other race one of the karts wasnt fully charged. Again, both of these races were cut down in time significantly. Unacceptable.
Great and fun activitie in town. I wish the staff was more friendly and the car was contact to the charger then you know the car is in full power. Definitely we will be back
Two hour wait. Fun, but staff are very strict on the rules and carts are stopped quite often for spin-outs and bumping.
Fun and relatively cheap for what it is. Could be more laps for a better deal but its coo.
Its amazing of course,my grandson love racing his NawNaw..
