Great paved trails. We walked, the kids brought their bikes. Like most places in the Bay Area, fairly busy on a weekday morning but for the most part people were keeping a respectful distance and wearing masks. Street parking. Would probably not ever come on a weekend due to crowds. A mix of shade and sun. A little windy at times but not bad. Great views!
This trail has been closed for a long time due to Covid-19 and wild fire season. It has finally opened which is great but the amount of people here is a bit much. Since the trail is shared also with bicyclist and other wheeled devices it can get crowded so always be mindful to keep an eye out for others. If you want a more peaceful trail then this is probably not the one for you. Good for jogging though as mostly flat surface.
If you are someone whom likes to hike but on pavement instead of uneven gravel and such. Then come here. If you like seeing greenery and a very large water, then come here.Might I add that on some days you will be able to see deer.Note, DO NOT DISTURB NOR FEED THEM!You will enjoy this place very much
Paved trail good for walking, jogging, and biking. Scenic views of the Crystal Springs reservoir. Benches located throughout the trail allow you to experience the serene environment and soak in the the gorgeous views. The trail is very popular and does get quite crowded over the weekends. It was heartening to see everyone on the trail wearing masks.
Beautiful views of Crystal Springs Reservoir along a 6 mile stretch of paved pathway. Lots of wildlife to be seen if youre on the lookout! This trail is great for walking and biking, Ive seen some skaters as well. There are at least two bathrooms. The path is pretty flat and wide. People have been very good about social distancing and most wear masks.
This trail is right by my house and I walk here at least once a week. Its picturesque, not too challenging, full of wildlife and you can also ride your bike here. Its absolutely lovely with scenery from a postcard.
Long paved trail with many long shaded sections. Initial section is sunny. Good for strollers since trail is flat. No parking lot, so park along street. Has more than one bathroom and park benches every once in a while. Was not too windy in August. Not too scenic, but good place to walk/bike comfortably.
Its decent place for an easy evening or morning walk/bike.
This trail is wheelchair accessible, paved throughout, and has wonderful views all along it. You can feel like youre really immersed in nature and enjoy some wild life while also being able to have any disabled friends, elderly, those using strollers, etc along with you. Frequent enough areas with a bench to rest.
Beautiful and serene trail perfect for a run, walk or bike. Breathtaking view of hills and water. It has shady areas and open throughtout the way so on hot sunny summer days you have a refuge in a shade and wont be left in the sun burning.
This trail for beginners was paved, so you didnt have to prepare for other shoes to replace ours after finishing the hike. You can eat lunch on a bench close to the restroom, which was located twenty minutes from the starting point and had a trash can.We went for a two-and-a-half-hour, seven-mile hike.We enjoyed the fresh April air and the views of the sparkling lake; it helped our bodies and cleared our minds.
Its a beautiful place to walk run or just sit an enjoy the views. Easy trails and very clean.
Very nice hiking and biking trail. Though better for biking since its long and can get monotonous hiking it. Its heavily trafficked and can get crowded fast. I will return with a bike next time.
The TrailFor those that havent been hiking for a while, Sawyer Camp Trail is a good trail and is a good restart. The trail itself is all paved and quite wide, enough for people to walk as well as some cyclists. You also do not have to worry about it being muddy after a rainy day. There are a good amount of shade and rest benches along the hike (stroll) for breaks. It is a nice relaxing trail that does not need too much intensity. The MiscellaneousThe trail itself is straightforward to navigate to. Though there is no dedicated parking, there is quite a bit of street parking. There is a small parking lot available, but it is farther than some street parking. Within the trail vicinity, there are also facilities if needed. All in all, the trail is excellent if you are looking for an easy, beginner hike.Note: at time of this writing, they are requiring all visitors to have masks and social distance.
Beautiful views, peaceful. Intermittent shade and nicely-paved trails to social distance. Lots of benches, periodic restrooms.
I enjoy walking and jogging here at my young ages! Overtime I started biking here and it’s a good training ground if your looking getting serious with a Roadbike, the last two miles has a good uphill where out can test your endurance and stamina!.
This is absolutley the best part of living in San Carlos / Belmont. This trail is a near-perfect with beautiful views, moderate hills for jogging and cycling, paved roads for kids to scooter around, plenty of benches and amazing weather all around. Also the length is long enough for a prolonged walk. The only part is it can get crowded and you will have trouble finding parking if youre not there early or late. But again, perhaps the best trail ever.
Beautiful and serene trail perfect for a run, walk or bike. Breathtaking view of hills and water. It has shady areas and open throughtout the way so on hot sunny summer days you have a refuge in a shade and wont be left in the sun burning.
Beautiful view and very flat. Perfect for an afternoon stroll.
Super relaxing paved trail that cuts back and forth next to the reservoir. Wildlife always seems to make an appearance, but I would suggest coming earlier rather than later since it can get pretty busy at times.
Great spot for biking and hiking along side with lake. 6 mil
Love this magical marvelous magnificent haven. Thank you very much for preserving this healing piece of heaven.
Great 6 miles one way flat trail by the watershed for running and biking. packed for weekend & less dense on weekdays
Very well maintained 6 mile trail where you can walk, jog, run or bikeNo dogs allowed for some reasonGoes side by side of the waterbody and have a lot of scenic views along the wayRestrooms, trashcans and benches are properly located and start and middle of the trail. No elevation for cyclists, there are bugs on the road and on the sidewaysOverall a clean and peaceful trail
Pleasantly surprised with how many people were wearing masks and social distancing. The trail itself is well maintained, and there are several pit toilets along the way.
Great views of the reservoir and very easy to hike. It has wide, paved paths, so dont expect to rough it too much. The trail is very long, so you can make your hike as long/difficult as you like. We saw lots of deer.
Great trail..beautiful scenery...easy trail..great for a walk or bike ride...
Omg! So beautiful! However no dogs allowed unless you have a service medallion. The walk is so visual its effortless.
Love this trail, but its almost always busy and make sure to lock your doors and keep valuables out of sight. My window was smashed in when we got back to my car. Kind of a bummer after a beautiful walk.
Started from Skyline Blvd & Crystal Springs Rd and headed to the north, turn back at Jepson Laurel area. Always shiny and few shade. Paved road all the way. A lot of people walking or biking. It’s a little boring to me.
The word will be nice to you.My mind is hurt and I need nurturethings to heal me. Thx God. Thx the virus, lol.
Beautiful area for a walk. Its a six mile walk from one end to the other. The trail is highly accessible, all paved and there are multiple rest rooms along the way. Lots of deer in the area. Kind of sad that the areas around the trail are gated off with fences.
Great place for a hike. Paved trail. You could spot deers occasionally in distance. Beautiful view.Parking spots available on the road side.
SCOOTER FRIENDLY - trail for kids! Leave a car at the south parking lot and start at the north end - and have basically a gentle coast down for six miles. Fantastic path!
Wide trail, relatively crowded...Good viewFew trees
What a beautiful place to be. Walk, run, bike or just sit and enjoy the atmosphere, loved it!
Asphalt paved trail for biking, jogging or walking. Mostly flat wide path with benches located along the several mile trail. A couple of restrooms available. Beautiful scenic views, wildflowers and wildlife are all here. On a 5 mile walk, I saw deer, rabbits, ducks, songbirds, hummingbirds, hawks, vultures, squirrels, frogs, a snake, various insects and hundreds of wildflowers.
Wide roads, lovely view of the the reservoir, easy mile markers to keep track of the distance covered - great for biking, walking and hiking.
A very Flat trail with beautiful views great for days when u wanna be with nature and yourself. Great for practicing marathons, healthy mix of all age groups will be seen walking, biking and running throughout the trail.
Great trail for family and friends. Could ride bike in this trail. During COVID, a lot of people dont wear masks.
I’ve been walking on this lovely paved, naturist trails for over ten years. It doesn’t get old. I’ve been fortunate to have walked along side a Bobcat, well of turkeys, and plenty of comfortable deers as well as hawks and eagles, plant life and the views are so gorgeous. Healing to the spirit and soul.Busy on weekends but you’ll figure out the sweet spot of times to come and enjoy the walk.People walk, bike and rollerblade here. Important to know how to walk/ride and blade on the right side of the road, and let people know you’re coming up behind them.It can be chaotic and frustrating because most people don’t handle the trails well. The trail runs 6 miles one way. You can start in the Burlingame / San Mateo side or from Millbrae. Millbrae is more of a forest walk and Burlingame is a combo of lake and forest.
Trail is clean, long enough for as many out and back runs as youd like, and generally people are courteous to yield to others.
Great hike along the water line. Easy for small kids.
This is an extremely scenic trail in San Mateo with lake views all long the trail. The trail is paved with almost no elevation change. Its pretty common to see deer on this trail. The trail is not a loop.
Nine, wonderful landscapes.. too crowded on nice day weekend..
Very nice trail that is kid friendly.
Scenic all the way with water views, trees on both sides and deers. Its about 10 miles roundtrip, took us 3.5 hours and a moderate hike. Its all road and theres no way you can slip. Its not steep as well.
Beautiful place for a walk, but there is only few parking lots, so you need to park next to the street.
Great paved trail to walk, run, bike, skate. Just needs some controlled access to water.
Great paved trail for running and biking. Used to get very crowded during pre-covid times. Currently they restricted acess to hikers and runners only so that helps. Great chances to see wildlife if you get there in the morning or around sunset. Lots of deer and rabbits.
Very nice view but its a line trials, I think I prefer to ride a bike next time.
Nice paved trail (asphalt - so you can bike ride, scooter, push a stroller, etc) around the resevior lake. Some parking....mainly on the side of the road.
Awesome! Very peaceful walk
Great bike trail for kids!
Scenic hike. Not sure distance as we turned around @2.5 miles
Nice place to actively spend time with family.
Great trail, love the pristine fresh air and gorgeous views!
Great sceneries, convenient location
A great place for a walk, hike, run, or bike ride. Almost too popular for its own good. It can get mildly crowded on weekends, especially near the entrance. Still, once you are a mile in the strollers and toddlers start to thin out.
Did a in and out bike ride and it was quite amazing. There are parts where it can get busy with a lot of runners, pedestrians, and bikes so just use caution and slow down for bikers.
Great paved road for biking. Sharing the road is a must.
Always a great hike bike or roll at this Peninsula trail. The scenery is beautiful and the trail is paved, making it popular for young and old. There are bathrooms (pit toilets) along the way to ease your journey.
Beautiful trail. Great for ruining, biking, or just a long walk. It oversees the reservoir lake and is beautiful and peaceful especially in the afternoon. Ample street parking, restrooms, water fountain are available.
Its a nice trail to run, walk, and bike. However, the bikers can be sometimes very rude and scared the heck out of me many times! They should enforce the biking speed for the safety of runners/walkers. Dogs are not allowed so its dog-poop free! You can often see deer and rabbits on the trail. I have seen snakes (and be aware of snake poop too).
Nice open weather, people were wearing mask.
Its cloudy and raining... I love it !
Very nice scenery.
Beautiful trail!
Quite accessible paved trail with nice lake view
Fully paved trail, restrooms and water fountains, beautiful lake,we saw a lot trees, shade, deer and birds,we did 6 miles roundtrip but you can go all the way and do 20 miles roundtrip or moreYou can bike as wellVery scenic and natural
Best nearby trail with beautiful views of the lake Definitely wouldn’t use the restroom there though seems like they never clean it
Awesome hike. Closed for biking during Covid
Really nice trail, fun for the whole family and great for biking
Camp Sawyer Trail is a great place for biking, running, and walking. It offers great views of Crystal Springs Reservoir and the ridge on the opposite side of the reservoir. Additionally, the trail is paved and flat, making it easy for anybody of any physical fitness to use. The parking for the trail is very iffy, since you have to park on the side of the road. Sometimes, if there are a lot of cars, you have to park quite far from the entrance to the trail. There are no water fountains, so be sure to bring your own water. There are bathrooms at the entrance, 1 mile north of the entrance, and 3 miles north of the entrance. However, the bathrooms arent the cleanest and they only have hand sanitizer to wash your hands. Sometimes, there may not be toilet paper, so be sure to check before using it. The trail is often crowded near the entrance, so be sure to watch where youre going to you dont crash into bikers or runners. But it starts getting less populated the farther you go up the trail.
This excellent gem of a trail is paved and mostly flat until approaches the dam between the two reservoirs. Its excellent for every activity one can imagine, whether it be running, walking, roller blading or cycling. Along the way youll find benches to read a book or to take a rest while taking the scenic views of the reservoirs. You wont find any water fountains, so definitely plan on bringing your own.
Great and relaxing trail. Love it. I wish had more and cleaner amenities and water vending machines.
A great family spot. Bring the kids, their bikes, a stroller, whatever. Enjoy the run or the ride. Definitely a family trail. If youre looking to ride hard and fast, the roads nearby are where you should bring a road bike.
A mid-peninsula classic. The road is paved so road bikes and roller bladers can enjoy the route as well. Six miles one-way or in and back for a fairly easy trip ( mostly flat) 12 miles. Can get *extremely* crowded and some folks are not real attentive to others in the path so take it easy.
Beautiful Scenery well paved trail
Great option if you are looking for a flat, paved trail with inland views. About to get even better with new trails due to open next week!
This is a wonderful place! Nature did a great job and humans preserved it. The trail is... tarmac :), therefore good for skating, for example.Dogs not allowed because theres too much wildlife.
One of my most loved hiking trails. Stunning view and well paved curvy trail along the water, this place is very mild/easy walking with few elevations. You can smell scent from spring and summer. However, parking can be challenging during weekend.
Very nice and quiet trail with beautiful views. Perfect for the weekend ride with kids
Love this trail. Easy access for all with epic scenery.
So good.
Lovely trail that is great for running! Not steep, and lots of lush greenery.
Fully paved trail, restrooms and water fountains, beautiful lake,we saw a lot trees, shade, deer and birds,we did 6 miles roundtrip but you can go all the way and do 20 miles roundtrip or moreYou can bike as wellVery scenic and natural
Spiritual, the wind, land, water, wildlife, most of all friendship.
It is a nice hike. It is not too steep, and the road is paved. The views are also beautiful.
Excellent paved trail along a beautiful body of water. You can comfortably run with a stroller along this trail.
