Lots of potential if the city were to invest in some upkeep. Right now its a mix of nice grass patches, nice bikeways, and trash and weeds. There are many people experiencing homelessness in the area who have made encampments on the banks of the river due to lack of other options.
Love this park. The only downfall is that the homeless have pretty much taken over which is incredibly disappointing. ijava is waking distance which has delicious coffee and food (go before closing time 1:00 pm)
Great way to get to most spots near downtown and even further quickly + safely away from traffic. Just be careful as there is usually broken glass on certain parts of the trail. There is also lots of sections with shade. I wish it would get cleaned, and there was more wildlife, that would make it awesome :)
It’s a very quiet, less crowded park nearby downtown. Park is not very well maintained but it looks natural, like a authentic village with lots of greenery, trees, trails for bike & walk. The chirping of birds is the best meditation here. If you need peace & break from city life, that’s the place.Parking is free but limited. Entry is free. Play area for kids is also free.
It would be a great place to visit and walk but its now full of tents, homeless people and refuge all over.
Very nice park and great little walk but as others have mentioned there is a bunch of trash and people (assumed to be homeless) lurking about. There are a few birds in the many beautiful trees and TONS of ground squirrels. I ran into a couple of Canadian geese and a type of duck I have never seen before with a long narrow beak.
Guadalupe park is a good place. Its evolved over the years. Yet there is a large homeless population that congregate s here.... they are for the most part harmless( big messes and build up of trash excludedKeep children close and make sure there is no paraphernalia (needles, glass etc) present prior to allowing them to play.
Great place for combos and hot rails with the homes and the homegirls too. Transformations take place on a regular basis!.......yeeeeee
Decent park, but its been taken over by the homeless. I used the tennis courts today and the stench was unbearable. The homeless people have cut through the tennis court fences and set up their shanties right next to them. There is poop and urine everywhere on the courts and I cant shake off the feeling of disease and disgust even after several hours. Going to find other courts to play on. The park management should do something about the homeless situation here.
One of the best parks for Pokemon GO players.
Such a sad park. It seems like no one is taking care of it. It has the potential to be such a beautiful amazing green space for tourists and locals but instead is over run by homeless, weeds, and dead grass. So sad to see it go to waste. I walked a long the trail and it’s covered in trash, homeless tents, and literally trash cans dumped over. I didn’t feel safe.
I had a wonderful time here its a beautiful walk only bad thing was the homeless and the trash but its not their fault its so expensive in the bay area. Anyway I loved it.
Love this park but needs a little TLC. Great trails and art but needs to be cleaned up and maintained more
Nice relaxing area. Homelessness has grown substantially but never an issue
The water from the Guadalupe River has receded, however, that does not take away from the quiet serenity this park and its trails have to offer. Adorned with natural grown plants and the animals that inhabit the area, this trail is ideal for anyone who enjoys the beaten path, as there are clear walkways and markers to follow. Though there isnt much to see as far as amazing wildlife goes, this proved to be a pleasant day stroll.
So I walked the park from the SAP center to Coleman. The park is...Its rather depressing really. I saw:1 - Numerous homeless/mentally ill people. Someone them ranting, screaming, and urinating in the river.2 - People doing drugs. Though there were no needles on the ground at least.3- Completely unkempt landscaping, overgrown all over the place. Trees fallen down everywhere (though its been a rough winter). Little to no tree cover throughout most of the trail.4- The trails are poorly connected, especially where they intersect with major roads. Having to trek through the tall grass or walk through questionable lots is not what Id expect from a city park. Where they do have tunnels they are bleak looking.Overall, its an adventurous park to trek through and photograph. Its almost interesting to see everything so overgrown and desolate. But, as a marquee park from a city as prominent as San Jose? Its shocking how neglected it is. And the homeless/mentally ill really add a lot of tension to what should be a nice park (its large at least).
Fun public outdoor space. Lots of areas of interest including monopoly in the park. Great for taking pictures. Its right below a flight path so youll see planes passing every now and again. Its close to the childrens museum and a tram stop. Very cool statues all around and of course a river.
During the day is good, but I wouldnt be out there past sun down...
Nice place to take photos for airplanes.
Great public land with miles of trails all the way through downtown
Nice and safe park. You can see planes landing to SJC. Swings and slides were for all ages. Loved it!
Always nice to stay in touch with nature.
This place is home away from home. Travel across town on bike and surprise people with how much faster these trails are. For kids there are original playgrounds, and for plant lovers there is one of everything, and they built me a rose garden. Happy trails!
Well, this a hard rating for me to post. I started visiting this park because of it being a park with river walk. As a winding area of paths and paved walk/bike paths, it is a perfect place to go for a walk or ride or just to take a break from the weeks schedule. It has a secondary purpose that i was not really aware of until i met and spoke with a few park attendees. I learned that it was also a place for some of the homeless population that had come to be here. Now i visit and have stayed over night a few times and seem to have made some acquaintances that have formed a bit of a family and i have been greeted and treated with mutual respect and kindness every time ive been there.
With the combination of a tamed residential park and an untamed wild forest (including some homeless villages), this park has everything to offer! Definitely one of the largest and prettiest parks around!
Nice small park with bike/run routes and great kids playground.
Great place Bernie Sanders gave a rally there today. Great speeches good sound system good vibes.Vote for Bernie 2020.Free yourself and free your mind.Su voto es su Voz.
Its a great trail with alot of wild life to enjoy and all around relaxing
Its as nice placd to relax
Its great park for walking, running and just hang out.Its a great option for kids too since the very close to the Childrens Discovery Museum! There is oversized Monopoly board on the floor, including the dice. Its so cool! :)Its well kept(clean, grass cut short) and the paths have a lot of trees around.I recommend for sure. I went there twice during my visit to SF/SJ.
Nice park with Gian monopoly and a trail, right next to childrens discovery museum. Was a little disappointed with the litter near the trail.
Paved paths make this a pleasant place to visit, and the trees and landscape are very attractive. You can bring your dog on a leash.
I was enlightened by my experience at Columbus park. I found the strongest, courageous people who find shelter there. People who for what ever reason are homeless and judged daily. In a blink of an eye anyone can be in their shoes.
Nice trail fir quick walk or run.
Great trail along the Guadalupe River spanning San Jose and Santa Clara for walking, jogging, running, biking and just being outdoors right in the middle of the city.. not withstanding the homeless encampments of many of the less fortunate among us, it is an oasis of calm in the bustle of traffic and noise of the South Bay.
Always great for a nice run along the river and flowers
Youll find many hobos and their tents in this park and trash along the trail. See my photos if you can.
Looks better now than before
Ok, nice walk, nice quiet area
There are parts of the park that are undeniably dirty - there is a considerable amount of trash along the parts under the bridge in particular, and the parts of the park closer to the dense coverage of trees can be a bit sketchy. But otherwise this park is actually really nice and would make a great place to bike ride/jog.
Park has some lovely parts but much of it is a home to San Joses homeless population. The childrens park is lovely but if look it over before letting my kids run and play on the equipment. The biking paths wind along the river making the park accessible to many looking for somewhere to pitch a tent. There winter rains and flooding caused a lot of the garbage that comes with a homeless population to be deposited in the trees along the river. This park has great potential to be a good place for the people of San Jose. As it is now, I dont consider it a safe place to recommend you go.
Love this trail.Great to ride your bike or walk your dog on this long trail. It is an absolutely gorgeous walk as everything around you is green just about while on the trail (except for while under the bridges..)I am from Washington State, so this trail really makes me feel at home in the Evergreen State. This is my favorite trail to walk my 11 year old pitbull on.I tell you what, she has a blast each time we go down it too.
Wonderful location for Family Fun ! I recommend you please pay attention to your surroundings for safety!
Great park near downtown with a great walking, hiking, and biking trail. The trail starts in South San Jose and extends all the way to the Bay in Alviso. We often visit here to take the dogs for a walk. There is easy parking in a few different lots. The park also contains a working orchard, and a rose garden. The only downside of the park is that you can often find large amounts of trash in different locations left by the homeless who frequent the area.
I wish I could give this park five stars but the City of SJ will have to do a better job of cleaning up the garbage before it reaches that level. Meanwhile, its still a very pleasant place to walk or ride a bike. And our dog really loves it too. In fact, she thinks the garbage is a major plus.
Basically a homeless emcampment. I brought my kids here to park and access the trail to scooter along it but found no place that I felt was safe to park my car due to an alarming amount of homeless people encamped there. The park looks abandoned and unkempt.
Completely unkempt, full of garbage, and homeless inhabitants. The childrens play area however is awesome, clean, and full of unique fun structures.
Love the food and the people and I work here as well I love it
Got a nice trail by it. Lots of homeless encampment around though. Makes few spots messy
Certain parts of the river are clean and inviting with well maintained trails. But, this can be VERY deceiving. There is a lot of litter & homeless encampments & homeless people wandering through the creek. When reported, the city and waterway districts dont respond or care.
Great location and path, and good basic infrastructure, but very poorly maintained. Weeds, trash, homeless encampments, animal and human excrement... A pity because it has so much potential.
Good public trails for running, walking, biking. Lots of homeless settlers around the area.
Very nice and quite place to jog, ride a bike or walk. Kids would love to play in the grass.Nice places to play volleyball. There are public Tennis and mini-football Courts. Your pets would enjoy it too.
Im sure theyve tried to maintain this iconic pocket-sized park . . . but the fecal matter spewed at the locked entrances of the public restrooms and the putrid smell of urine boiling in the sun was too much. I am sensitive to the homeless, I myself having suffered in the past from such plight . . . and to see them suffering on the benches with all their possessions next to them in a basket was all too much for me to bear. I had to give them my food and simply leave.
Fun and exciting
I love this park! My dog and I walk there everyday and I never get bored! Thank you Guadalupe River Park Conservation Team!
An amazing place to take a walk
Awesome little park. Bit crowded but still fun. Kids love it. Just single entrance and exit. All park is fenced, i.e kids are safe inside this park.
Its a nice park with bathrooms. Its not the parks fault that the city doesnt take care of its citizens. If it did, there wouldnt be over a thousand people living along this river.
If give it zero if I could. Place is nasty. My bag was stolen from there. Lots of thieving homeless there so beware. If you wanted pictures just look at a toilet thats about it
Iots of areas need to be cleaned up and maintenance on the restrooms
Its peaceful... Until you step on a rig(*needle) and there are to many people looking to come up on you.. No friends to be found there..
Nice for kids play. But no option for littles ones to ride bikes. Parking is very less.
Great place for a field trip. Place to learn with a nature walk, games for kids to understand the animals, and meet couple of animals and learned about them.
Lot of trash in this park and not well maintained. Also a lot of homeless camps. Cycling path at some points overgrown. Having said that it is still far better than cycling on the street
Clean, well maintained, nice place for a bike ride or a casual walk.
The play ground area is great for all ages. Even the little guys can enjoy their day there. We take our 18ninth old grandson the often. The floor/ ground off the play ground area is padded rubber so it cushions the falls of the little guys. Is actually what finally have my grandson the confidence he needed a few months ago to start walking on his own. His Nana and I also enjoy the winding paved paths behind the play ground for our daily walks. Its a great tranquil place to get away from some of the city sounds and enjoy nature a bit. Beautiful well kept rose garden is a plus.
If you walk 30 ft off the trail to look at the river you will be charged with tresspassing by predatory pigs that rack up tickets to fill qoutas. Theyve already gotten me twice
The park is nice but last time it seemed like it was only me, my three kids and a few hundred homeless folks. Encampments everywhere.
What was a beautiful restoration of a natural river conservation project has turned into a homeless disaster area. I cannot even stomach walking along the trail any longer. I give the city a few props for trying to keep this area clean but until we deal with the excessive homeless population who is literally destroying the natural beauty of this area there is no point.
Great place
I visited Guadalupe River park in downtown San Jose for one purpose - to see the giant Monopoly game playing surface! Its over on the San Carlos Street side of the park. We found the Childrens Museum on Woz Way to be the best GPS target to use to find the park. The only drawback to visiting the Monopoly site, however, is that there is no Free Parking in downtown San Jose. We found the street $ 7.00 parking (albeit for all day) to be a little pricey for a quick looknsee stop. But we decided to be good tourists and paid the fee... and not wanting to take a chance at getting a parking ticket.
It is really nice but they should ad MORE trees for shade but I really like it
Amazing place adorable performs from kids
Nice place for walking or biking or riding your scooter - still sharing it with the homeless but they don’t bother you
Attended a Renaissance Faire here and it was great.
Great speeches good sound system good vibes.
Great outdoors space to view the Fourth of July fireworks show. It does get very full, so allow plenty of time to find a spot. The fireworks begin around 9:30 and we arrived around 7 and it was pretty full by then already. There is a live band for entertainment and there are some vendors selling treats around the vicinity. You absolutely need a blanket or chairs to make yourself comfortable and be prepared to share a bit of your personal space. Great atmosphere overall though.
Great park! Perfect to bring your children on a sunday to have a great afternoon playing!
Lots of solitude on this trail and friendly homeless, but I feel homeless should be kept by the same standards and rules as any national park that allows camping, 100 feet min. From the waterway.
This is a multi-tiered park that I had never noticed before. Hidden gem, great views, clean restrooms, and plenty of space to spread out. Its easy to see why there were so many photographers - the views of DELA are fantastic. But theres also an area for kids, nice gravel paths for walking, a soccer field, and some sunny spots with benches to lounge. You can tell youre in a city, but this is a bit of respite from more a more chaotic scene. Theres a tiny parking lot but street parking up a hill off to the side.
Great scenery
Good for kids.
Spacios area to walk or run along. There is a park for kids. Not so nice views, some times but it is good to find this in San José metropolitan area. Not easy to access on foot from downtown.
I like this park, not too busy.
Most of the trail is nice (north of the airport) once you get to the downton area it gets pretty sketchy (lots of homeless encampments) as well as some shady looking people mulling around.
Love riding my bike here. Love it.
Has been severely neglected. Weeds throughout the roses. Homeless encampment close by. Place needs pruning, weeding, and general cleanup.
Good park but a little deserted park. The play ground is great though.
