We had a great time using their virtual experience. We chose this company because they do a great job of converting the in-person experience to zoom. There are other companies that use a live person in the room, which I wasnt entirely comfortable with, but instead of using a live person, they used videos, photos, and a live game master (via zoom) in each room, which worked seamlessly with our group of 65. We were able to submit teams ahead of time, and they took photos of all of our teams over zoom. I highly recommend this company for virtual events and conferences, especially while remote. They are a great team-building solution during these socially distant times.

Came in Sunday early afternoon, waited in the lobby for about 3 minutes before someone came out to greet us and give us instructions. Our guide prepared us and explained the game well. The clues were fun and difficult but our team of 4 escaped before the hour. Any more than 6 people seems like it would be tough to fit and all be involved but Im sure there was a group of 10 before us!

We went for a work team event and it was a lot of fun! We were provided ample clues, in case we were stuck and we were eventually able to figure it out. At the end, the host of the game also gave us feedback about how our team did...which I felt was truly good for us to understand our team dynamics in general. Highly recommend this place! Cant wait to go here again !!

Good game. Puzzles not too hard although hints may be needed for some of the more obscure clues in the room. While many escape rooms are making the experience better by creating an emersive environment, beat the lock falls short with their room decoration and props.

I had a team building event here and its really fun! The employees were so nice and patient, gave us hint, took photos in the end, even took notes what we have done! The parking lot is in the yard do its a bit hard to find. I called them and they gave me detailed instructions. The best escape room experience ever!

Friendly, helpful staff and fun puzzles - we ‘got out’ in about 45 mins. Can nitpick (e.g., dim lighting in the ‘attic’), but a great experience overall with friends and family.

Spy Room was a fun escape room, though not necessarily the most challenging, so its good for beginners. Beat the Lock is well run, and their staff is both polite and responsive. Although the time I requested wasnt available on line, they created a link to a custom reservation for my group very quickly. An easy pick if you need to plan an exciting team-building activity.

I have never done an escape room before so have nothing to compare it with. But I liked this. It is a small room where you get locked and have to find clues to open door to another room and then more clues to stop a bomb and save the day. The staff here is friendly and helpful. They monitor you throughout the game and offer help when needed

My wife and I did the spy room and we were very impressed with the difficulty and amount of puzzles fit into the room. We did our best but did not escape which wasnt a fault of the room or staff but just our group size. Make sure you come with your A team of at least 4 people to get through this one unless you are very experienced players. We would have liked a bit more game master interaction during the game but overall recommended.

Excellent. Went with my company team as team event. We tried the Spy Room, and (it took us a bit) it became clear that the props were the best of all the escape rooms weve been to some far (though we did fumble in using some of it). Good on them, we werent expecting those and it sure made things memorable. And the set up  required us to REALLY get into it. When we do another room here, well be more prepared this time around, now that weve got the feel of it.Overall, great experience with a couple of the more user-part of the set up that I thought could be improved on. But the puzzles and room set up were interesting enough that were definitely planning on returning again!

Review №26

The place is difficult to find but the experience of the escape room is great and the staff was very friendly. The only drawback was that the three clues that were allowed were pre-printed and werent terribly helpful. In fact, we felt that they told us what we had already discovered. The spoken clues, though, were much more helpful. If wed only received those and not the printed ones, which made us use time to figure out what hey said, I thought we would have had a better time. But overall, a very small complaint for a very well thought out and fun escape experience.

My first escape room. Had a ton of fun solving puzzles and clues. The theme of the room was engaging and although we needed a couple of hints to complete, it was possible to solve within an hour. But,the room was well designed and would definitely recommend. They have a single theme at this location and another in Santa Clara location. Looking forward to trying more escape rooms now!

Br
Review №28

This is a fairly standard escape room. The puzzles are on par with all of the other escape rooms Ive done. One thing that bothered me is that they punish creativity instead of rewarding it. Our room had a 4-part puzzle that we solved 3 out of 4 clues for. We deduced the 4th part of the puzzle based on the pattern of the other 3 parts, meaning we advanced without actually solving one of the clues. Normally escape rooms would reward this kind of thing since creative problem solving is the entire point of doing an escape room, but Beat The Lock Escapes Rooms forced us to go back and solve the clue that we skipped.Overall, its probably worth a trip if you havent done many escape rooms. Just expect to be disappointed when your clever solution is denied by excessive legalism.

Giving two stars just for the cheerful and friendly employees! A+ for them. However, I would not even give the actual escape room one star. Very little effort was put into the theme, or the story, or the room itself. For a place supposedly belonging to your neighbor, it sure had a lot of Ethernet ports and a suspiciously office-like drop ceiling. The puzzles themselves were disjointed and had little sense or logic to them, and left you feeling thoroughly unsatisfied. The Spy Room at Beat the Lock sets a new (low) standard for escape rooms. I will be shocked if I ever encounter a more hilariously badly designed room in my lifetime. Would never recommend to anybody.

A good experience for sure, we went with 6 of us and had a fun time figuring out how to escape the room and beat the clock. We did it in 47 minutes. Although it was fun, for the price you pay it should include more. Its literally a room and you find clues to open a chest to escape. We paid $187 for 6 of us and it lasted 47 minutes. I think if they allowed you to do another room after the first, you would get your moneys worth.

Excellent premise for the secret agent neighbor room. We had two groups of 8 people and they were able to accommodate both groups at the same time with the same room type which was awesome. We got to compete against each other to see which group could escape first and not have to wait around for them to reset the room.

Had a team building outing here. It was my first escape room so not much to compare it to but it was a good time none the less. We had 4 identical rooms to compare times across 4 teams but one room was different than the rest which skewed the time for one team making that team incomparable to the other 3. Other than that it was good times!

The spy room barely meets the requirements to be an escape room. Very little effort was put into creating an ambiance worth noting. Was just a small office with painted walls and random props put into it. Definitely would not recommend to a friend. Ceiling still had the standard office tiled ceiling and all the outlets and ethernet plugins still were still there... As well, the opening story was pretty basic which took about 10 seconds to explain. Staff were only minimally engaged in creating a pervasive theme throughout the experience. Definitely has a lot of room for improvement especially given the room was $420.
