A truly one of a kind park! You may have heard about the many wonderful ceramic sculptures here and may be confused as you pull into the parking lot. Thee is a path just to the right of the baseball field that will bring you right to it! “La Laguna de San Gabriel” or “Monster Park” was created in 1964 and was out on the National Registry of Historic Places in 2017. Benjamin Dominguez made the sculptures at the age of 70, which was his final project. Even despite Covid, it’s fun to visit just to take in the slides even without riding them. There was virtually no one in this section of the park when we were there. A must visit!

Free range kid play!!!!! This is not a place for safety conscious parents as the structures r made of cement and slippery as all hell! Bare feet or grippy socks/shoes are a must here.Lots of bike trails and beautiful scenery. Kids love it here and theres no swings! Winner playground.

My kids love this place. It really is a hidden gem as you can not see it from the street. Ample parking, lots of tables, few bbq pits, cool things for the kids to climb on, its like kid heaven....except that it is small and my kids wish the concrete slides on the dragons were upkept better. The animal and pirate theme is nice but once you are there it is apparent that this place has seen better days. Fresh coats of sealant and paint would work wonders here but it is yet to happen...been a while from what I know. Anyway cool place, never crowded, and pretty safe for kids.

Came here with some friends and their two young children after grabbing breakfast nearby. The park was a great place to let the kids run around. There were several concrete structures shaped like animals, a lighthouse and ship for the kids to climb on. Some of the structures even had slides so the kids loved it.

Vincent Lugo Park, located at the corner of Wells & Ramona Streets, is the citys largest park and recreation resource. Recent construction improvements have enhanced the parks open space. Enjoy the fresh air and open space at Vincent Lugo Park! This beautiful park is home to La Laguna de San Gabriel, also known as Dinosaur Park, which has been named one of nine of Americas coolest playgrounds! La Laguna is home to 14 concrete play structures and an adjacent picnic area with 10 tables and barbecue area, which can accommodate up to 100 people. Also available for reservation are the Sage and Oak Picnic Areas, which each have six tables, barbecue grills, and a capacity for 50 people. Beautiful shady beach type sand (no water) park, different than all the rest. Surrounded by lots of grass, picnic tables and shaded trees. Men playing Dominos and lots of little groups doing tai chi. Big colorful structures of whales, lighthouses, dragons, ect, with slides for your little ones to play on, (bring beach toys). No normal type playground equipment. Very worth spending a morning or evening at before the heat kicks in.

Its a nice park. Not as crowded as almansor park, but also not as big. Theres a playground area in the back (back left from the parking lots). Theres slides and some stone animals to climb on. Its not very appropriate for small kids under 3 to run around in on their own. I saw a girl that looked around 5 go down the slide on her own and it was too steep/fast, she landed hard on her back. Its a sandy playground so expect to have some sand in your shoes.Theres an outdoor gym area by the playground and at the front of the park by the parking lot. They are all in good shape and Ive always found them to be clean.Theres a dirt trail/ jogging path that runs along the length of the park in the back. It can get muddy if its rained or one of the sprinklers watered it by accident.Theres a fenced baseball diamond between the playground and the parking lot. I see people take their dogs in there a lot. Beware of poop.Theres shaded benches scattered throughout and an area with multiple lunch benches covered by a gazebo between the bathroom and the playground.Overall its a well kept park with plenty of shade. Great for lots to run around. Especially in the front grassy area.

The playground has some really cute animal slides but they can definitely use some new paint job and repairs. They should add a synthetic track to the park for running and/or biking. In the Summer they have a Farmers Market in their already limited parking on Thursdays but there really isnt anything interesting to buy.

Loved it first of all for its pirate themed playground. Packed with many different sea creature slides, including its own shipwreck rocks to climb on, and a lovely lighthouse (also a slide) this park has it all. Plus i believe they might have a baseball team there? They have a ball diamond W/ scoreboard!!!

Monster Park within Vincent Lugo is amazing. It was built in the 60s and has a giant octopus, whale, sea serpents, snail, etc., for kids to play on. A must to go at least once. Better than average. Mostly clean and well kept. It had newly installed workout equipment. The path is well lit. There are two restroom buildings. The playground, for kids, is bad though; all the obstacles are made of sonewhar rough stone so kids can easily get scrapes, bruises, etc.

De
Review №99

The park itself is nice. But it is misused by the public. Dog walkers do not pick up after their dogs. The walking path smells of dog poop and you have to watch where you step. In the evening young pot smokers think the park is a great place to get high. You should not have to smell weed all over the place when you walk in the park. There is no security or police presence at the park to discourage this activity. The potheads are often by the childrens play area and ball field, again no security.
