Smith Park

Smith Park is cute small clean, organized park that has playgrounds, few BBQ pits and tables/benches. It’s located at San Gabriel Valley. Green grass is well taken cared off. Small parking lot is available. Overall it’s just an okay park.

Today I asked pool staff how to sign up for swimming lessons they stated I dont know look it up. They were so helpful. New to the area worst parks and recreation system ever. Tried calling park and rec for basketball didnt have Information pre covid either.

This park is well kept, its nice and quite with shade and tables. Great place to have a picnic, meditate/ yoga, has basketball court and handball. There is a pool though covid-19 is around its closed.

This is a very small park but it has a great picnic area, tennis court, and pool in the summer. Oh and a nice playground. So small but with all the amenities you could ask for. Greatly managed and clean.

Great place to handball.

Clean and offers a little bit of everything. Street and a little parking lot offer just enough. However, if its a busy day you wont find any space. Also if lucky, they have a pool. But its a special schedule for that.

I love the handball courts! They have tennis courts, a basketball court, volleyball court, competitive swimming pool, a separate kiddie pool, 2 playgrounds, plenty of space for a family football or baseball game, bbq pits, gazebos, and a nice walkway to jog on.Its never too crowded. Police station a block away. Nice park!

Beautiful, clean, easy access park. With parking spots for days. If youre looking for a great local park its here. The lights are off around 9:30pm.

I was passing by Smith Park in San Gabriel yesterday, Sunday afternoon and spotted the Park Ranger Georgie R. I pulled over and asked how everything is going? He replied, good all good. Let me explain the park and its history.... Smith Park is our, Park of growing up in the Varrio. We, family, brothers and sisters, and close friends which we refered to as the Homeboys. We can sit and reminisce the days of the past. The Park has changed a lot. First of all, they capped off the little side street that ran north and south behind the Tennis courts to make way to extend the park. Make it a bigger park with more picnic tables and picnic shelters. There was a big parking lot that was removed to enable space to extend the park. I have to admit the lot wasnt being used that much. The employees from the factories used a small portion of it. Other than that there was a lot of empty spaces. When we were growing up there in SG, we would often go to Smith Park to play Tackle Football and later they added the Handball Courts. That was good workouts. I am usually not good with change so I have to remind myself that the world is constantly changing and we have no choice but to change with it as well or we will be left behind. The moral of my story is we who have changed for the better are going to be fine. The ones left behind or had no choice and are not with us anymore. As I often say, You can take the boy out of the Varrio...but you cant take the Varrio out of the boy. Never forget were you came from and who you are. I pray for all Everyday. As I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord my sole to keep if I die before I awake I pray the Lord my sole to take. Quiet, clean park for family outing

Love this park for relaxing and walking.

Great park. Small, but enough space to run around, well maintained and clean. New playground is awesome, and new benches too. Just need more shade, to make it 5 stars

This park is small but it has a new playground for children. There are also tennis courts and a pool near by. The play area has various activities and keeps children entertained for a good length of time.

Is good for little and Young kids.

Nice small local park with tennis & basketball courts, a community pool, playgrounds. Also good amount of green space for dogs or picnics

One word -- pickleball. Find the nicest people willing to teach the game on redrawn tennis courts. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 8 am to 11 am. So fun. Try it.

Great family park! They have swings, slides, grills, pinic areas, basketball court, handball, tennis courts, pickleball, a heated pool (open in summer season) and dogs are allowed. Its pretty clean park and there is street parking and a parking area on the south side. Nice place to go for a walk, run or hang out.

Very nice tranquil park. You can reserve. Park benches and swimming pool for parties and the pool provides life guards. Awesome!

It has a swimming pool, tennis courts, racquet ball courts, a playground, a running/walking track, and a picnic area. Small but it has everything we need. We love to come here once in awhile.

Laid back and clean. Multiple poke stops. Tennis courts and a pool. Single basketball court. Again, a perimeter filled with pokestops.

Very well maintained trees and plants and grass! Clean, stocked bathrooms. Very popular with the neighborhood residents. Handball and basketball courts are just as happening as tennis. They even have handball tournaments. Lots and lots of shade over plenty of benches and even shady parking all around the park!! Full size swimming pool open only in summer months (not sure on specific months) as well as an enclosed, shallow kiddie pool and 2 or 3 playground areas. The newest section added includes an open, grassy area thats mostly used for soccer and tai Shi (sp?) Groups in the early mornings, lined on one side by a garden of indigenous plants with descriptions and a brief history of the Gabrielinos and the nearby San Gabriel mission. Its truly a place for all ages and ethnic groups for special events, gatherings, or just to get away from the heat. This is MY park.

I usually drive around the park for the pokestops. Theres about 5-6 around the park and near the swimming pool side theres usually a few water pokemon on the opposite side of the street.

Small park with a lot. Has walkways, grass, pinic area, bbq grills, benches, swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts and handball wall. And its quiet. Nice park.
