Up-and-coming stand-up for a great price. Excellent value and nice people.
Tucked away on the south side of Sutter Street between Powell and Mason, this gem of a theater is currently producing several shows, among them the one I saw today, TomFoolery: The Wicked Words and Mischievous Music of Tom Lehrer. I laughed all the way through. If you are sick of the news and want some light-hearted satirical musical fun to lift your spirits, come here before June 16, 2019 and catch this wonderful show.P.S. if you purchase your tickets online, just use the name of one of the cast members for a discount: MARISSA, RANDY, GREGORY, and RICHARD.
We thoroughly enjoyed Tomfoolery - they faithfully and imaginatively recreated the cleverness, music and humor of Tom Lehrer. Marissa is fabulous - she has a great career ahead of her - a real talented pro.
Wonderful people great vibe and good laughs
Awesome theater! Ive seen several improv shows here and had a blast! Really cool set up in the basement of this building. Ive also rented this venue out for company meetings. My team loved it! Matt, the owner, is very flexible and easy to work with.
I really enjoyed this place. There were 5 comedians that performed in a row and were really creative with their ability to make the crowd laugh and also, engaged pretty well with the crowd. Keep spreading the laugh, we need it :) Will definitely visit again :)
Great atmosphere, the bartender is awesome, and the comedians are really funny!will definitaly come back soon!
I had been here before, to enjoy a show in the basement that was mostly a troupe simply shouting as loud as they could. It was seriously unpleasant. But some of the other shows I have seen here upstairs have been amasing, and the drinks in the great bar in the back have always been fantastic. So, this evening, I wandered in to see if they had any tickets available for a show. The woman in the ticket booth told me that there were some tickets still available for one of the shows - but that there were people behind me in line who already had tickets, and that I was blocking the way. Instead of selling me a ticket, she told me to get out.I asked the bartender downstairs if there was a house manager, as I still wanted to see the show still available and wanted to find a way to make it work. She told me there was no manager, and to stop bothering her if I didn’t want to order a drink. The people working at this place are the rudest people of any theatre I have ever patronised.Find somewhere else to go. The people here are terrible.
As an artist, your treatment of the playwright is abominable. Shameful. You should put out a statement explaining your actions.
Never in my life (of attending plays around the country) have I pre-paid for tickets and gone to a show (wasting the time and money to travel/park/etc) only to arrive 20 min before showtime and to be told the show was cancelled (last Sat, for “Judas…”). Go to Gold Start for a refund, I’m told. The producers/company could not have emailed people quickly with just a few words, so they wouldn’t waste the time???I’ll never patronize the Shelton Theater again, ever. What unprofessionalism.
Cozy little theatre, superb actors, already excited for the next show!
Fun, cozy theatre.
