This is an amazing space to see live music, especially on Jerry Day, in honor of the man. There are epic sweeping views of the city, and the bay, and the sound rolls so sweetly up the hills. A truly quintessential San Franciscan experience to be had. You dont want to miss this event.
I love this venue! But always make sure to lock up your vehicle and dont leave any valuables in sight, Ive had my car broken into and have had a number of friends who have also had it happen to them. Otherwise, its a great place to enjoy a show!
Wonderful small open air theater. If you wander through and there is no show, be sure to have someone stand on the stage and talk to you. The sounds bounces off the cement backdrop wonderfully.
Annual Jerry Garcia Day - decent tribute bands, Deadheads, dogs, and tie-dye. If thats your scene, this is your event. Most of the available space is on the steep dirt hill above the bleachers. Bring a blanket and/or chairs. Free!
Great location. Tons of dogs. Awesome events.
There’s lots of parking. If you’re here for a show, there’s lots of seating and also shade in the lawn. Just remember to bring a blanket for lawn seating.
Jerry day is amazing every year, cant wait untill 25years next year
Beautiful park and loved the grease sing along event. The scenery was spectacular, the amphitheater is easily accessible from the parking. Theres some good restaurants nearby. Theres also restrooms close by. I would recommend this location for events or just for a nice day out. Also if you have pets nice place to walk.
Amazing Awesome Shows.
Ill give all Stars because you cant beat the view and atmosphere and vibe when your here in SF, the trees swaying, leaves rustling, smell of the eucalyptus, the surrounding paths and gardens, are beautiful. There are grass and wooden seating so bring a blanket or cushion. The bathrooms are kept pretty clean and are a close distance from amphitheatre. There are several handicap parking spots, up top, otherwiseo parking required a little hike, def not a place for high heels.
Great place to hear music
Good place to take your dog off leash.
Great place to catch some live theater. Rec and Park needs to show it some love
Beautiful Gem, secret San Francisco spot.
Beautiful amphitheatre in the middle of the park
Never been for performance. But great place to let your dog roam around. Dogs must be on leash during performances though
Go there for jerry day every year. Food is expensive. Most bring their own.. The music to commemorate jerry is a day of shared emotional fun. Nice people from old deadheads to youngsters getting their first taste. What a great day and the venue does play into that. A great place for families to go.
Ive attended Jerry days and omino days and other concerts here and have never had issues with crowds.
Jerry Day. Do it. Annual celebration at his namesake music venue is not to be missed, even if youre not a deadhead. A people-watching extravaganza in a very cool atmosphere with ridiculous views.
A unique San Francisco venue!
Jerry Garcia Amphitheater dont tell anybody its our little secret. Where else can you watch A Midsummers Night Dream by Shakespeare on a lazy Sunny Sunday afternoon. We also saw it Jerry day there in August and there are other concerts and performances there throughout the year.Shushhhhhhhh!!!!!! Dont tell anybody.
Fine, bathrooms suck
Its Jerrys stage of course it cool
Great times with great friends on Jerry Day! Love the set up and appreciate all the nice staff and volunteers. Absolutely perfect! Proud donors to keep this park beautiful.
Great Jerry days concert.
The security think they can kick people out when the park is still open lol but F*** those guy other then that I love it there
Beautiful open space for events, short walk from the street.
Wonderful show as always
This is where they hold Jerry Day, a day of music celebrating the life of Jerry Garcia. First Sunday in August.
This hidden little amphitheater sits hidden by trees. They have old wooden seats do bring a cushion to sit on. There little to no shade so wear a hat or bring an umbrella on very sunny days. I came here to watch shakes in the park. I really like the venue and sat in the service row. They have disable parking, though very limited, and the amphitheater is wheelchair accessible.
Needed larger signs to the event as well as to the Restrooms.
Nice place to bring the kids. Out of the downtown mayhem.
Hidden San Francisco gem. Protected from the wind and family friendly.
The best experience in life and in San fran. Hahaha
Not a lot of shade. Decent acoustics.
Watching the SF Mime Troupe Comedy hit squad was great.Music starts at 1pm, but I got there early, noon, with a big blanketand grapes, bananas, dates, prunes, strawberrys,to share with people.Comedy is so relaxing.Laughed all day. They will be back on Saturday July 25th, to do their new show, Freedom Land.
Great fun and good music
Awesome hidden gem in the middle of McLaren Park. Live music in the Summer and even Shakespeare in the Park!
