Awesome! Nice variety of interactive exhibits. And for the low low price of FREE, its a great value. Definitely stop by if you have the time and get your face printed on some old-timey money :)
This place was awesome! No cover charge. Includes some gems from the past like a working telegram and phonograph.
If youre visiting San Francisco and have some time to spare. This place is well worth a visit. Plenty of history to be learned..go and enjoy
Very very nice. We really enjoyed this small museum
This was an accidental find that we thoroughly enjoyed. The best part was it is FREE, which was great with how much we were spending on our sightseeing around San Francisco. You dont need much time here. Maybe an hour or so to fully take in all the historical items. It really is worth the visit here.Located in the heart of the financial district, it is easy to get to, so you can make it an easy side trip on your sightseeing itinerary. There are some cute photo opportunities and two photo booths as well that will email you your funny memorable shots.I would say this is fun for all ages and historically very educational that isnt boring. It is worth the side trip and I would say a hidden gem that is a must see.
15 to 30 mins of entertainment. Can learn Morse code
So much to learn and free!! Kinda small but good interactions with staff!
A small and free museum that introduces you to the historical times in the rise of the California and in turns most of the American banking and investment industry. The story and the artifacts are indeed very much of an advertisement of the company that the museum is named after but so what. As a newcomer into this country, I never knew much about the history of the gold rush, not even mention the role of this company in that history! Nice touch with taking your picture and sending it to the email.
Nice little museum with three stagecoaches to look at. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a great place to discover not just Wells Fargo history but San Francisco history and banking history. Well worth the trip. Best done by public transportation - between California and Sacramento Streets.
A surprisingly good find! The Wells Fargo Museum is free to enter and fun to explore. Everything from creating your own ticket for earlier coach travel, to playing pong is available here as well as their unique ties to the banking industry. I learned a lot and this is a great spot to spend 1-2 hours in the Financial District of San Francisco.
Pleasant experience. For history and nostalgia buffs (especially American West) great place to spend couple of hours. Staff very courteous. Front desk also has some souvenirs. I got a Stage Coach replica piggy bank in metal. Real good memento.
An amazing place to visit and know about the history and culture of Wells Fargo Bank and to actually touch and feel some of the history making equipment which was used.Dont forget to take pictures on the stage coach and collect a few memories to include yourself
This place is small but full of interesting exhibits. Probably more suited to children but I still enjoyed it. It’s also free.
A small very well kept and organized.museum. Worthwhile to.visit.In only one hour it takes you back to the beginning of San Francisco. Seems so long ago although it was only about 160 years ago. Congratulations for this unique place. By the way., Entrance is free.
Its free but very small. Would be ok for kids but does not take long to read everything.
Nice museum to kill some time in afternoon. Interesting pieces of frontier history regarding stagecoaches, travel and banking. Staff friendly and helpful.
Rich in history and free!
I found this by accident just wandering around taking photos. Such a nice surprise and free! Free is good. There is a great display of money and coinage from many different banks back when they all printed their own. Scales gold was weighed on and lots of photos.A Stagecoach display to get into and try and imagine how in the world 9 people would ever fit in there and spend days traveling together! Push a button and there is the Stagecoach driver telling you what to expect and scenery going past the window. If you sit in the drivers seat there are different videos showing and telling you how the Horses are driven, harnessed and otherwise controlled and directed by the driver. This place is only a few blocks from Montgomery street BART right on Montgomery. Well worth dropping in to spend a little time
Worth a visit, very interesting
It is an interesting place for adults, and lots of fun for kids. The woman working there when I visited was super nice and very helpful. I highly recommend a visit. On top of all that, its free!
Great free place to spend an hour or so who’s not an a fan.Enjoyed all the interactive displays.Friendly knowledgeable staff
Fun little museum with interactive displays. Most impressive is the original stage coach. Note that its only open Monday-Friday.
Very nice museum to see the history of the bank. It also has many old gold and silver coins on display. I spent about 2 hours there with my son, and also bought him a Wells Fargo stuffed dog toy.
Just a small free museum that gives you a window of what it was back then. Keeping in mind that this is free, the museum is well kept.
Great museum. Lots for kids to do...interactive. Worth the time and its free!
Has some good exhibits. My favorite are the early street maps of SF.
This gets 5-stars on the basis that its 100% free and actually really well done. If youre visiting and have a time slot you want to fill, pop your head in here. It wont cost you anything to realise its not your thing so why not!Its not enormous and youll get through the various displays in around an hour (assuming you actually read and interact with it all) but its quite fascinating to learn the history of the business and how courier businesses ran back in the day. Some have noted that its heavily branded but its also in the banks lobby so theyre not exactly being sneaky about anything. Its not like theyre obnoxious about it either and it didnt bother me at all.
Nice little place to visit when one is in the area. I especially liked how it was quiet and not too crowded, so I can take my time with each exhibit. I visited on a weekday in the early afternoon, so that could have been a factor.
Free admission to a great museum telling the story of Wells Fargo and the Gold Rush in general. It shows how technology like a telegram, improved the banking business. Really worth visiting here, if you are close by. You can even have your photo taken with a historical stage coach.
Came here on a school field trip with my son. I was impressed with the amount to of things kids can learn there, especially older methods of travel and communications, such as stagecoach and telegraph. You can pick up and use some of them to get experience what it was like. We had a guided tour for the field trip so that was very nice. Its directly connected to their main branch. Best of all, the museum is free to come in and browse. They are closed on the weekend though so plan accordingly.
Many interesting artifacts from the gold rush era. Interactive exhibits. Great for kids.
They let us enter and look around and use the bathroom. All at no charge.
Simply superb. For those who wish to know more about the early stages of banking evolution in USA. Very informative.
This was an unexpected surprise. First, you cant beat free. But its an actual museum quality experience. The displays are informative, interactive and very well done. I cant recommend this highly enough. Its worth spending an hour or two here.
Fun and quick to visit, even if you take the time to check out the assayers gear in the cases. If youre around late, you might see something reminiscent of the Tower of London: beef-eater security guards of a certain age maneuvering the stagecoach in the bank lobby for a clandestine meeting with the stagecoach in the museum. If these stage coaches could talk...
Wonderful set of interactive exhibits, much more about the gold rush than banking. A lot of fun to see!
A free museum showing the history of Wells Fargo (and banking industry in US) not a very large museum but with lots of interactive activities. Nice one, worth a visit if you are nearby.

Pretty cool for a bank to offer a free exhibit like this.We had fun here while waiting for the rain to stop.
Fun little museum about Wells Fargo history. You will discover a lot about the life during the golden rush and even may ride the diligence !
Excellent museum. Free entry. Super friendly staff.
A small but unexpectedly good museum. If you are interested in stage coaches, historical banking or gold diggers, you will spend a pleasant hour here.
Should have fraud room in the museum!
