This store is certainly interesting to say the least! I LOVED the little animal skeleton jewelery. I dont see myself buying anything here as it is a bit overpriced in my opinion.
Beautiful place and nice staff. First time I went into a shop like this and I loved it! I was surprise how beautiful everything was.
Very nice collection of unusual items for those that appreciate something different. Also, they sell some more mainstream goods, such as their jewelry. I was able to finds gifts for kids (who are into insects), wife (jewelry), and even a unique item for myself!
I have been into this shop I think 3 or 4 times. I live out of state but I make a point of stopping at Loved to Death whenever I’m in San Francisco. My wife loves their selection of jewelry and decor. She has described it as “creepy cute.”They have a fantastic selection of jewelry, wonderful curios, and artwork. Their online store is very good, but in person is great. I was last in the store on 9/28 and the salesperson was extremely helpful with finding me some gifts to bring home, a jet bracelet and a snake skeleton ended up being favorites. Every time I’ve had a very pleasant shopping experience, whether ordering online or in person. I can’t recommend Loved to Death more. A wonderful store!
Super friendly staff & great ambiance. Bought a nice deck of tarot cards! Excited to use them.
Beautiful shop, not too overpriced, and delightful staff
They used to have an annex but its gone now.Ive purchased gifts here including jewelry, art and knick knacks but ehen I came in today I was disappointed by the goods or lack of goods on display. Nothing really impressed me.I dont know if its under new management or if theyre just having trouble with cash flow and cant raise money to purchase inventory but something is off about this place now.Ill make two more attempts ant Halloween and Christmass and if it looks like there is no improvement Ill assume its given up the ghost and died a retail death and never come back.
Very, very happy with my new necklace.. the quality is exquisite. I can’t stop looking at it! Shipping was very fast too. I placed my order on Friday afternoon and it was shipped the same day. I will definitely be shopping here again. Thank you!
Somewhat pretentious staff. Worst, a lot of bad, negative energy leads me to believe a lot of the items have not been cared for properly, or ethically sourced or dealt with. Spooky as a commodity can lead to serious backlash and consequences, but I guess all for a dime these days.
I cant wait to.come back again!! I wish I could have bought the entire place!!
Very interesting store have been 4 times now. On my last visit my husband and I road on a bus for over an hour just to make a purchase at this store. We was treated so rudely by the sales lady that we left without said purchase and will not go back!
This is my favorite shop in all of SF. The most fascinating things can be found. No photos, and typically no touching, but if you can following the rules you will have a great experience with the staff. They are very knowledgeable, so ask about everything. I was very pleased to have an impromptu lesson on Victorian era hair jewelery.I take all friends and family here when they come into town.
Did not disappoint. Just like on the TV show. Parking can be a challenge... :-)
Usually I love this place, the things there are very fascinating and they have a wide selection of books! I go there all of the time, living in the area, but I recently had a bad experience with one staff member and I feel like I should share. She wasn’t very friendly in the first place but I brushed it off as being shy or something, until my dad picked up his phone. Now I realize you’re not supposed to have your phone out, but he was replying to a text from my SICK mom- it would have taken him a minute at most. She told us that no photography was allowed and my dad explained the situation. She repeated that no phones were allowed to be in use in the store. So my dad cooperated and stood near the door. After a moment of staring at him, she actually raised her voice and said in front of everyone, “could you NOT stand near the door on your PHONE.” Acting like we were literally insulting her? For someone with really bad social anxiety this was humiliating. I usually feel safe and comfortable in this shop but I left trying to hold back tears and stop my hands from shaking. Thankfully I found refuge in a vintage store down the street where the staff are very kind and understanding, and I had to sit in the car for another 20 minutes just to feel stable again. But the store is great in its products, and I’ve never had a problem with any other staff members, but this experience makes me not want to return. Maybe be wary that some people are very sensitive to confrontation- and try to smile? I think it’s important to be as kind as possible, you never know what other people are going through or how your sour attitude might affect them.
Its cool not as much fun trinkets as they used to have and not many animals in jars for sale. Bummed out I was looking to expand my collection
This shop was on my list of places to see, as I had been interested in it since the television show they had about it called Oddities I think.Located in the historic Haight-Ashbury district, the first thing to notice about this place is the authentic architecture. The building is a fantastic old Victorian with lots of great original detail, and could pass for a location for a scary old movie. Its fun to look at. Inside, they have a nice assortment of antique and vintage items, most of which are steeped in a macabre/creepy/ghoulish vein. The proprietor was pleasant to deal with, very informative about her items and helpful. If you are looking for any items that are unique and a little on the dark side this place has a respectful assortment. They even have some items that are altered and very creative, like a China plate with an image of Frankenstein superimposed on it very professionally, for example. If nothing else, this little shop is an entertaining detour from the ho hum generica we all deal with in retail shops on a regular basis.I only wish it were a little larger, but its still a gem nonetheless.
This is a weird and interesting place. If youre into the goth thing I think its pretty unique and special. They have a new pictures policy or a post a few pictures but they have necklaces and earrings jewelry with human teeth some kind of monster that I saw movie has its head mounted on the wall as a trophy. They have tarot cards and books about tarot and Ouija boards. The staff was friendly and didnt give me a hard time for being a straight arrow in an otherwise rather edgy place. This is not a good place for people who might be shocked or highly religious. There are skeletons and skulls and at this place every day of the year is Halloween. But not the Halloween your kids enjoyed something much more serious. For someone who embraces science instead of superstition theres not much to buy in this place, but helps you understand the range of what people can put their faith in.
This place was cool glad I finally got to check it out but small then i had expected and the stuff is pricey but very unique.
Enjoyed visiting this shop. I was too broke to buy anything but I wanted to!
I love stores like this. Even if you dont find anything you want to buy, its an experience. Its sort of like walking through a small museum. Very unique items, various dead things, cool art. It is quite pricey but the items are definitely one of a kind. Great music selection. Friendly service.

Great staff and really cool shop
Cool store...the owner was not as cool though. But what can you do when your constantly surrounded by tourists?
Great morbid gifts batman! Visit every chance I get
If you are at all in to the awesome but sometimes weird world of the macabre, this is your place. They have great antiques ranging from old medicine bottles and instruments to all kinds of articulated animal bones. If you have seen the show Oddities on the Science Channel, Loved to Death is like the West Coast version and has actually been featured in some episodes called Oddities: San Francisco Very cool shop if you want to explore the more morbidly exquisite side of your personality or if you just want to explore a different kind of antique shop.
Neat little shop to visit if youre in the mood for something unique.
Cool unique stuff. Could stand more odd things. But really cool none the less.
Such a unique place to go!!
Was as awesome as I could hope for. I am glad I was able to visit while in San Francisco.
This place is very cool and has a lot of exotic sites to see that you might only see in Philadelphias Mudder Museum. The big difference is the stuff here its for sale. If you ever saw the movie Dinner for Schmucks, you might notice the dioramas at the beginning of the movie with the dead mice are a direct rip-off of this place. Here You to meet the lady who originally created these things, there is a lot of wonderful here and a lot of fakery. This place was also featured on a television show about 5 to 10 years ago - pawn wars meets horror movie. Please click like if you like my reviews...
I want to love this place but they are trying to offer too many tourist items at insane prices. They also really seem to be lacking more and more of the unique items that you want to just own no matter the price. I am a collector of old medical equipment and of animal specimen and they just never seem to have items that get me excited anymore.
Curious little shop of horrors! Too bad they dont allow taking pics. They have a lot of interesting stuff.
Stop by if it’s in your way but if you want a destination death shop go to Paxton Gate across town. That said if it’s jewelry you want then this is your place. They don’t allow photographs in the store which seems kinda dumb.
Such a unique little shop. Like being in a museum! So different and the staff member was really friendly and helpful. Definitely worth checking out.
I saw this place on TV a long while back and was always dying to go and I finally got to and I was not disappointed. Everything was beautiful and fairly priced with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I could spend hours in there and still find something new to look at.
SO expensive. They have some interesting things but the price tags are definitely a detractor.
Incredible selection of unique, bizarre antiques, etc. The place to get that someone that has EVERYTHING# LOVED THE SHOP AND STAFF! Highly recommend!
Might not have broad appeal, but good for those who are interested in very unusual pieces
Liked the shop alot just overpriced though.
This was an amazing place. Audra was great and very welcoming.
The website made it look alot more interesting.
Cool place to look around...
I love, love, love this shop. If you watch Oddities or are into weird stuff (like taxidermy, the occult, macabre art, etc) then this place is a must visit. You may have to elbow some tourist out of the way but this shop is one of the few reasons to go down to Haight-Ashbury. They dont allow pictures inside the shop which is a shame, but they have cool articulated animal skeletons, funky jewelry, art pieces... its a great place.
Nice little shop, cool oddities
Such a unique little shop. Like being in a museum! So different and the staff member was really friendly and helpful.
Very cool and intersting things here. Would never buy these types of items but cool to see. Some things are even historic
Dope spot in sf to pick up some dark and hard to find curios...someone buy the chet zar painting and unlock some major bonus points in your life...
Awesome ahop! Lots of skulls and creepy stuff :)
Regardless of its appearance on TVs Oddities, Loved to Death is a full experience in the world of the Dead (in my opinion). From taxidermy jewelry to the creepy side of antiquing specializing in antique surgical equipment. This place is an amazing experience. I try to stop in any time I am in Cali
Neat. Not very big or a lot to look at, but it was definitely worth the stop
I took a city bus for 45min just to come to this store and they were not open when it was advertised by both Google and there hours sign on their business!
This place is the best! Filled with oddities and artwork! Always something awesome to see there!
Great shop. Unique items.
Really interesting stuff. Friendly staff. Great for a different kind of gift. One of a kind slightly off items.
Super friendly and helpful. Lots of cool things!
The most beautiful and interesting store in all San Francisco.
Went here partly because of their popularity on the Oddities show. Great selection of random things. If youre into it, youll be fascinated. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable as well.
The wife loves this place, I always end up buying her way more than I want to spend each time I go. May not be the place for everyone, but if you are into oddities then it should be a must go to destination.
Awesome store. Great staff!
Amazing collection of oddities. Helpful and informative staff. Try to stop by whenever we are in San Francisco.
I bought a bunch of stuff from this place, I thought it was pretty cool with affordable and interesting selections. Probably my favorite oddity store.
Very unique place, great service
Absolutely love the stores, and the people are very inviting.
There is some awesome stuff here, both macabre and not (ie: you can get both beautiful feather earrings, and also the banjo playing stuffed squirrel). Definitely worth checking out.
Interesting place if you are in to the weird. Great place that completely fits the area.
It use to be a really great place, now its a tourist trap
My daughter loves the things she bought. The service was wonderful.
This place is featured on Oddities. I really shouldnt have to say anything else about why its so amazing but Ill give it a try. This place is packed with the macabre, the strange, and the beautifully twisted. They have tons of great antiques but also plenty of newer items. For instance, they had one of my favorite jewelry lines on etsy: bloodmilk, right by the front door on display. If only I could afford half of their stuff. The staff seemed kind of rude though but that didnt even bother me with how cool this place was.
One of the stores that I always recommend for people to check out in the Upper Haight. Loved to Death has a wide range of the macabre, ranging from deformed animal skeletons to scorpion earrings. The little art gallery in the back of the store is pretty sweet as well.
Interesting lil place
Whether youre into this stuff or not, check it out. Youll be intrigued and glad you went, regardless. Really fun stuff that makes you admire and think.
This place has great energy! :)
Excellent shop for curious items. Friendly staff and great spot to see unique items!
This place rules.
Such a unique, creepy, interesting store. Worth a visit if youre in the area!!
If you like the macabre youll love this store all things death are in the store!
Bought an item as a gift, had it shipped to a diffrent state, they said couldnt guarantee delivery on monday...no problem, its Wednesday still hasnt gotten there. Called for a tracking number, I was told its supposed to be delivered today.I looked the number up myself. They put it in the mail yesterday, expected delivery thursday. I honestly dont mind, just didnt prefer getting lied too.(Worked for usps, I know how to read thru usps bullsh*t)Just own up to the issue, I trust you with my $$ trust me with the truth. (Especially when date and time stamps are involved)Im disappointed and I do hope they packed it as well as they said they would :(
Really disappointed...was expecting a morbid excellent experience...all they carry are antique reproductions and frames of bugs. Real let down....dont waste your time.
So many interesting things
Way cool unique place loved it
This place has lots a pretty dead things, do with that what you will.
They never opened. Would have loved to have gone inside.
Kinda cool, but they didnt have the highly illegal item I was looking for. Shame.
Awesome little curio shop. Glad I stopped in.
This is the kind of curiosity shop youd expect to see in Diagon Alley from the harry potter books. Its so curious inside, I saw at least 6 signs saying no photographs. The stuff I saw in there was seriously weird. Very cool, dead, weird, skull-ish, stuffed, snakey. Hell, they had a jellyfish in glass as a paperweight. There isnt much I can say about this place except it was like edward gorey or sweeney todd meets an art gallery meets a gift shoppe.
This was a cool store. I was disappointed in prices
Wonderful place...just small
Cool shop, but over half the stuff is NFS
Beautifully creepy! Intriguing and awe inspiring!
A place for macabre and creepy oddities and art.
Cute trinkets and such
Fun and funky shop
Very interesting shop with lots of curious articles!
Great selection of odd things.
Interesting
Interesting
Everyone has to check this place out!
