Lightsource was amazing in scanning and reproducing a number of family heirloom photos dating back to 1910. They gave me a great deal, and the photos are gorgeous - can’t recommend them highly enough!
We had over 200 old and valuable 35mm slides to scan for a book project. We heard LightSource was the best. We heard right. Caleb walked us through the drum scanning process and from the beginning we knew our slides were in more than capable hands. LightSource proved over and over that its services are consistently top shelf, professional and superior. We couldn’t imagine not using LightSource and would recommend their myriad of services anytime. In fact, we’re putting Caleb in for a raise. - Larry and Mary Foster, Fort Bragg, California
Everything one could want. Super equipment, talented professionals that are very helpful. Aron is an artist when it comes to capturing an image. He also takes time to recommend papers, works with my multitude of questions re aspect ratios to show me sizing dimensions that will achieve customers goals and shipping practices. Once or twice I have found the prints from Light Source more interesting than my original canvases . Let’s just keep that one quiet.
Dear Sam and Ward,Thank you for your truly amazing scans of these old negs. Fine work, indeed!Long-winded backstory for review readers: In 1972, I borrowed a Mamiya TLR (120 film size) to photograph a grouping of original sculptures created with very dark wire. The artists chosen background was black seamless paper. Fun challenge! I made two or three 20 prints of decent quality in a borrowed darkroom. Now, nearly 50 years later, another, bigger print is requested by the artists family, and luckily the negatives are still available. We chose a couple of frames and Lightsource came through with amazing scans that far exceeds our expectations, including beautiful details and tones that we had never seen before in this image. Excellent job, Ward! Now to carefully plan for some prints; See you soon!Larry Cuneo
Lightsource are consummate professionals. They know printing, they know color, and they have that special touch I havent seen at any other print shop. Well worth the trip if youre outside the city.
Working with LightSource (Aron) was a dream- great communication, ease, quick turnaround and high quality. He knows the products and makes great suggestions. I will be using them as my printer from now on!
I was very impressed with the service provided by LightSource, SF.I cold called, in a desperate search for printing services, on an old watercolor I was hoping to reproduce before the holidays which was in need of conservation. Lightsources Aron Cohen used his talent to not only reproduce the watercolor in two different sizes as Id requested but he was able to diminish some of the stains and other age spots on the original watercolor, making it look like it had been restored. I was thrilled to say the least. It was a big order. LightSource was generous in offering me a discount on the price per quantity and I had my prints within a week.Ive already recommended Lightsource to an Historical Society and I am eager to use their talents again!
I am an artist, and went to Aron at Lightsource to get my artwork captured and prints made. Aron exceeded my expectations. He patiently took the time to explain the entire process and what my options were, was able and willing to help me make custom adjustments to my art post-capture, is responsive via email or phone, is flexible & reliable, has a quick turnaround, and went out of his way to help me in every way possible within my short timeline. Most importantly, he does great quality work, and the final prints looked exactly like my originals. He stands by his work and makes sure that it meets the clients satisfaction. His services are competitively priced as well. I did a lot of research before selecting Lightsource, and am happy with my choice - will be working with them again!
Ward did an amazing job! Every part of the process was quick, stress free and professional. Prices are economical as well.
I have been using LightSource to print my wildlife photographs. I have worked mostly with Caleb Statser in this this regard. I have been pleased in every way with the prints I have received. The submission of files is easy. Caleb does a great job tweaking the image to get the best and sharpest print possible. I have printed images as large as 3 feet on the long edge with no issues. When I take the prints to be framed, I always get compliments on the photos and the printing. I will continue to use LightSource for my printing, as I have no complaints, only good experiences.
The super high resolution capture of a woodblock print done by LightSource produced an outstanding record of the minute details of the print. Coordination of my visit with Sam the owner was easy. The day of the capture with Aron, and assistance from Caleb, went smoothly. Both demonstrated their expertise and initiative to create a capture that completely met my unrealistically high expectations. I appreciated being able to observe, and contribute throughout the process. The capture was a work, not personal, project. Getting what you want and expect is not cheap. Sam worked with our budget to give us all that we needed, at a fair price.I highly recommend LightSource Fine Art for impeccable image capture, and equally high quality prints.
Amazing first experience. Talented, swift and professional.
LightSource, and specifically their employee Caleb, have been incredibly helpful to us for our photography needs. We bought our home last year and while decorating, had a pretty specific photo project in mind (I saw a Kate Moss doctored photo on Instagram that I liked and wanted to blow it up, mount it, and install it in our bathroom...suffice it to say it was a pretty big ask). The only info I had was a low res photo screenshot. Caleb managed to add grain to this low res photo (and all of the other magic that he worked on it), blew it it up to a 48x48 print and managed to make it look high res. It was pretty remarkable and is one of my favorite pieces in my home. Caleb has also done multiple other photo projects for me (one of them was a custom-created a black and white gallery wall for me and installed it personally), and is very communicative and a pleasure to work with. I am so happy with this business and will continue to use LightSource & Caleb for any photography/print needs I have. Highly recommended!!
I worked with Miles at LightSource-SF with printing photos for my first show. Miles was always, patient, professional, and extremely helpful.
Outstanding! Caleb, Ward, and Steve have all helped me with various projects - art capture, digital restoration, and printing. Highly professional, easy to work with, and beautiful results!
The best print studio Ive worked with over a 20 year career — top notch printing and image capture work, excellent creative advice given (around papers/inks and such) when asked, very knowledgeable and responsive staff. I cant imagine my workflow without this invaluable partner.
Great company. Everything was perfect.
Best printing service in the City. Steve and Ward helped me pull off a huge print I could never have done by myself.
I had a number of pieces printed here that came out incredibly, they helped through the whole process and were tilling to go through the motions with a lot of tests. They arranged for a courier to deliver the prints, and when the courier got in an accident and one piece had a corner bent, they reprinted and delivered next day —above and beyond service.
I cant say enough good things about Sam, JP and the gang. I keep coming back to them with my fine art printing needs because they offer that dream combination of excellent lab (paper, printer, ink) quality; responsive, caring service and - lo and behold - reasonable prices for how much time and attention they always give their jobs, and me, their client. The right combination of small lab attention and big lab service, whether dropping printing off in person or via their on-line upload & print.
They are great team, they can do everything you need, such as take high res.photos, photoshop, and printing, including frame, canvas stretched.even shipping.i highly recommendShan Shan Visual Artist.base in SF.
