Steep and rocky, but amazing at the top. We did this hike after South Fortuna and had an awesome time! Its a moderate hike from the Claremont mesa trailhead, but if you have a few hours, check out both fortunas

I loved this hike! It here a little tough but nothing to bad.

Pretty steep climb up from the Equestrian Circle staging area, was able to make it up on my bike, the ride back down was worth it!

We went clockwise from Corte Playa and had no regrets! Beautiful scenery.

Such a beautiful hike. Somewhat technical in some areas depending where you start but have some good shoes - preferably trail shoes of course. Views are always worth this hike up! You won’t be disappointed.

I have an affinity and love for Mission Trails. The trails are well cared for, and you couldnt ask for a more accessible location. Its impressive how this natural park can be situated smack in a central location to just about anywhere in San Diego, yet maintain its natural beauty and feeling of isolation. North Fortuna mountain is along the North side of the park, and can easily be navigated to from about seven or eight different trail heads. The approach can be a more gentle one by hitting the Fortuna saddle from the east or west, or another rolling approach along the perimeter trail. Final approach to North Fortuna can be either from the North or the South. Its fairly accessible, and not overly steep.

No matter which way you come from, the trails to North fortuna are difficult but so many great views await you along the trails and peak. Pretty awesome and bring your camera.

North Fortuna! Amazing place to run and hike. Easier access from the East end of Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

North Fortuna Mountain Summit is one of the best hikes in the Mission Trails area. Be sure to bring plenty of water, the correct shoes, and maybe a hiking stick, as it is challenging in certain sections. Be sure to leave no Trace!

A challenging hike from any of the park trailheads. I prefer the longer hike from the Jackson Drive parking lot because the trail up to the saddle from the north from the old dam is very steep.

The trails arent as challenging as others. But the view is amazing. San Diego at its best! Trails are good to hike or bike

If youre looking for a moderately strenuous hike, on well-maintained paths, not far from the city, this is a good choice. What a wonderful 360 veiw!
