I love how you can drop in whenever you want during business hours and get the best 30 min. workout of your life with a trainer that is helping to motivate you from start to finish!
UTSA Student workers were very friendly & helpful...
Great place to work out Very nice and helpful staff
Dope place to lift except on weekday evenings during the regular semester which is too packed. Great group exercise classes. Might as well get your moneys worth since its part of tuition. The biggest flaw is that most equipment can be detail cleaned. Looks like the whole weight area can use a pressure wash. They have a lot of random closed dates which can be annoying if you have no where else to work out.
Good facilities and environment. Helpful staff and cozy atmosphere around the center.
Solid gym. Has guest passes but you need a current student to go with you. All the equipment you need is there for you!
Lmao, I cant say anything bad about a gym.
STUDENTS OF UTSA: We are charged around $250 a semester to utilize this rec and its worth it. They offer kickboxing, yoga and other group classes as well as a pool/wet area. The Rec holds many different types of machines in the downstairs area as well as free weights. If you venture upstairs, there is an indoor track and another more private weight lifting area. They also have showers/locker rooms.
Nice place for a workout, courteous staff, they keep the place clean
Did you know, if you are a current member, you can borrow 27.5 DiamondBack mountain bikes, sit on top kayaks, tents, backpacking equipment, headlamps & hammocks FOR FREE for 5 days? Most juniors and seniors say they wish they had known when they were freshmen and sophomores. They also have a free climbing wall and trips program.
Instruments or facilities they provide are great but one thing I am mad about is if they are closed they dont inform you and the website says its open! Today is the third time it happened and dont know who to complain !
Nice facility, very good variety of ways to work out and a pretty cool rock wall. The pool is pretty okay. it is very warm, but that is alright for an outdoors pool.
$5 for a guest pass if youre not a student. Everything is great except there are some dumb rules like no chalk. Otherwise a good center for equipment for whatever youre in to.
Great facilities. Great staffs. Both the indoor and outdoor fields are great.
Great facility. They have an indoor track, various treadmills, group exercise classes, at least two free weight stations that I know of, a bunch of weight training machines, basketball court, volley ball, and Im sure a ton of other things I dont even know about. The building is very large. They also have showers, locker rooms, day lockers, and a pool.
It is perfect place to workout and relax.
Is the wellness center only for students ?
The UTSA Rec is clean, organized, and well maintained. As a student its a great place to be.
We pay 400+ dollars on tuition for this place and they don’t some amenities that a gym at this price should have that’s pretty unforgivable since Golds has practically the same things and more with the cost being way less. I wish we could opt out of paying this fee as students.
Fantastic recreation center for students. They just opened the pool back up as well, so thats a bonus. The gym has plenty of space for basketball, weightlifting, running, and they offer a variety of classes. My personal favorite are the free outdoor recreation equipment rentals.
I love the Rec center! Theres so much variety and the staff is pretty friendly. Theres all sorts of equipment and activities to do at the Rec.
This rec is amazing for UTSA Students. The cost is already included into your tuition so no additional payments are required.
Best gym in town in my opinion. You can pay on a monthly basis and theres no contract. The closure and reduced hours dates can be somewhat inconvenient but it cant be helped since the majority of the staff are students.
UTSA Campus Recreation was my second home during my time as an undergrad. Had the honor and privilege to work their from 2009-2013. Plus being apart of Professional Recreation (PRO Rec) Organization as well! Please take advantage of every opportunity this department has to offer for UTSA Roadrunners in the San Antonio Community.
Policies are annoying. Good quality equipment.
Why are the showers always being serviced? Other than that great amenities.
This enormous center has everything: numerous basketball courts, volleyball, racquetball, weight rooms, group fitness classes, swimming pool, indoor track, and even healthy cooking classes. On the less healthy side, theres also a TV area with incredibly comfy looking seats.
Great gym for students with tons of other recreational activities available.
Love the rec, one of the best gyms in the city
Great equipment and staff. By far the best gym in San Antonio! Proud to be a Roadrunner.
Great staff, well organized and creative programing. Cool things for both students and Roadrunner fans. Clean facilities with good variety of athletics, they also offer a ton of camping gear and water sport rentals.
This place is dope for being free for students.
An employee named James is really cool
A great place to workout and lament in the blood, sweat and tears whilst doing so. My only qualm is that the blood and tears come from going to the bathroom and finishing up with sandpaper. If youre using preworkout, being your own charmin.
Great, swam at pool. Lifeguards helpful. Students courteous.
Fantastic huge gym!
Facility is clean.Staff is friendly.Lots of machines and free weights.and...Ping Pong!Yes, this place has something for everyone.
Love being there. Gentle staff and great atmosphere
After 5 years studying at utsa, I went the the rec pool (that took forever to build) for the first time and was approached by a lifeguard. The Lifeguard, aged in the mid 30-40s, told my friend he could not wear athletic shorts to the pool. He also asked what kind of underwear he was wearing.. and this was super awkward. He then rudely explained that men had disgusting and gross chemicals coming out of their rear ends and said that my friend could not wear the underwear (same of which I was wearing). This guy was utterly rude and disrespectful. All through my college, I have never encountered such a rude and disrespectful staff member. I have swam at the Northside Natatorium many times (which is almost 10x the size of this pool) and had no problems there but at this new pool at UTSA, they have NO respect for the guests. Five minutes later, another rude encounter.. There was a floating lane separator line in the small pool at utsa and when my friend touched it for 2 seconds the life guard literally yelled at us rudely. The rest of the time, they were hovering above us and was watching us two like vultures until we left the pool. This was my first and LAST experience here at the Utsa Recreation Center.Never again will I swim here.
Great facility with a wide variety of things to do. Helpful staff and friendly people.
Have all the machines I want, great classes, fitness assessments, working on the pool, great indoor track, friendly staff, and lots of courts!
Pretty good facility with everything you need
Really good amenities
Plenty to do. Classes and rock climbing are a lot of fun!
Great place. Free for students
Ive never been to such a complete gym before. The Rec has everything anyone would need. Plenty of machines, plenty of free weights, and plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, etc.
0/0 would not weightlift here again and the pool has been out since 2011.And I have to pay for this. Yay UTSA

Best Place On Campus(:
I was a little overwhelmed by many new things not here in 2006-07 timeframe. But, roads are well seen.
