First time visiting this theater. Seemed a little chaotic, and uncoordinated when patrons were allowed to enter the doors after scanning tickets, but not allowed to enter the theater. It was over crowded until one of the ushers suggested to the ticket scanners to not allow more in until the doors opened. There was a bar so some bought drinks, but it was too packed for most. Once inside the theater the employees were very nice and accommodating. Asking if you need help finding your seats and escorting some. Once inside, it was nice clean. The seats I purchased were right in the middle row, perfect view. The comedy show was great, Anjelah Johnson ...
Great performance venue. Built in 1913 and restored in the 1990s to its original gilded luster. Not quite as grandiose as the Majestic theater next door, or as massive as the Tobin Center across downtown, but nonetheless boasting a distinctive old-fashioned charm that hearkens back to its vaudeville roots. The exterior is a bit nondescript, but the restored interior and modern amenities more than make up for it.
This place is whimsical to say the least certainly time to dust off the gala wear as this place is magical and you might get a really nice picture shot with your loved ones. I enjoyed coming out here for the nutcracker and I thought I would not like it. Glad my wife dragged me out here. I certainly would come again. Thanks to the Russian group and their wonderful performance. More beer please!
Such a lovely looking space! But logistically not practical...especially if youre in the balcony/cheap seats. There are A LOT of stairs, no restroom up there or bar either. So...make time to arrive early, go to the bathroom, grab a drink/ merchandise and get ready to climb. The first row of the balcony is also very snug:Im 57 and had to sit at an angle and the railing on the aisle is right next to your armrest so careful turning - you could knock your eye out.
Great seats. Whats not to like about the front row. Even the lower side seats would be good for most performances
I absolutely love this venue. Nestled in the heart of downtown San Antonio there are many sights to see and fantastic restaurants to check out. The amphitheatre is small enough to feel intimate but large enough to draw awesome performers. The ambiance, architecture, and decor make you feel as though you have stepped into another world
First time visit to this theatre. It was a great concert venue. I had floor seats so not sure about the balcony. There sound was superb, staff was friendly and helpful. Basement bathroom facilitates are a bit inconvenient for those who cant do stairs, long wait for the one elevator.
Small and cozy theatre, around the corner from The Majestic. Tickets can be purchased from the Majestic ticket office, if its ticket booth is closed.
Beautiful theater, comfortable seats. If you get the opportunity, get box seats. Friendly staff. Only issue is exiting: its a bit of a crush.
The acoustics of this theatre are decent. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The air conditioning is on point as well. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is because the actual seats themselves are extremely uncomfortable. Even the seats in the boxes looked very uncomfortable. If you dont mind a little back/butt pain then its a perfect venue.
Very good. Saw a Great play of A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Wonderful music venue. Not a bad seat in the house
The Doo Wop Project was AMAZING. The theater is beautiful.
Cute little theatre. The seats are basic and disappointing. We were in the orchestra seating area and had a great view. The show was 60 minutes and the children loved every minute of it. After the show, they usually do meet-and-greets for guests to have photos taken, for free, with the actors/characters.
This is a one of a kindBeautiful place definitely a must see
We were seated at the wrong seats. We wered supposed to have had table seats and were ushered to the wrong seats twice. We were very disappointed in the usher. ( heavy set man) didnt know what he was doing.
Show was decent, shorter than expected. Only family on top floor so the freedom to sit wherever we pleased was nice. Only draw back was that they closed the bar immediately when the show started and parking was a bit high for only a hr and a half. 10 bucks flat rate. Plus, signs would help where to enter. Every door locked on main stretch have to enter from side entry.Show: (Kids musical of Madagascar the movie) 6.75*Would ranked higher but they only did the first movie which was a let down. With tickets for 4 adults and 4 kids along with 3 hr road trip to the theater and with the understanding that it was going to be a two hour show. Which it wasnt.Ill wait till the next one comes closer to home.
Beautiful theater. The Vienna Boys choir was wonderful.
Loved seeing A Charlie Brown Christmas in this historic venue!
This is a great small quaint theater, used for hosting not gigantic events but not small either. I personally saw a discussion about tech block and the future of our education here, and there was great seating enough space for a lot of people, and everything you would need in a theatre.
First time there and I rather liked it.
Whst a beautiful Venue for a delightful evening of lovely Music
Beautifully renovated venue for live entertainment with a bar! Pro Tip: Avoid the added convenience fees by buying your tickets directly at the box office.
Cool theatre, loved the building and Comedy Show was great. Do not plan on having drinks during the show! A whiskey and Coke was 13 bucks.
Maybe when they get construction completed it will be a better place to go
Nice place..not too big but just perfect. Very expensive beverages
I took my kids to see Madagascar and it was fantastic. The theater is nice and the employees were fantastic. They talked with us in between sitting people telling us all about the Empire and Majestic theater. Great place and good company.
Overall, great place and friendly staff! I couldnt find much online about the grade of the seats so my assessment is the lower level has some grade but not much similar to old movie theaters. The second level has more like stadium seating. The box seats in the middle have the most grade.
Nice theatre with good sound system and seatings.. Attended a tech event which went well with the great environment of the theatre..
I was ushering the performance Walkin the Line - Johnny Cash.
The theater is nice. But they had a leak so you couldnt take the stairs up to the balcony. So you were stuck in a slow elevator which is hard when a whole balcony is trying to go up or down.
Like everyone states this is a beautiful intimate theatre. I assume the views are great from the 1st floor but if your in the Mezzanine Section expect to sit forward since the railing obstructs part of the stage. Even if you are seated in the first row. Very steep and very large steps in the isle way. Pay a little extra and buy lower level seats.
Great venue with comfortable seats, but the valet parking was a bit vague.
Great theater. Like folks say, not a bad seat in the house.
Had a good time seats were great, wish there was more bathrooms instead of just the ones at the basement. But wasent enough to give lower rating. Seats were big enough to fit a guy of my size where I didnt feel like a sardine getting in or out of the seat. Liked the smaller theater made for a more personal feeling enjoying the concert.
The recommended parking garage sucked (Rand Parking). If you dont own a smart car you may tear your vehicle up trying to maneuver around it.
Very nice historic venue. Sound quality is really good if you have someone performing.
Located in Downtown San Antonio, TX this quaint little theater offers an clean, intimate setting for a night out on the town and enjoying some live entertainment.Amazing staff, well taken care of facility, and only a short walk for the famous San Antonio river walk.Overall a great place to consider putting on you itinerary if there entertainment schedule lines up with yours.
Awesome setting & therere no bad sits!! Great show & service!! Will definitely go back.
I attended an acoustic brass concert Thursday night where I continually heard an electronic beeping thought the performance. This was so distracting I could not focus on the performance. I left at intermission because of this.I cant believe the stage managers sound engineer, or other staff couldnt address this. Ill avoid the Empire theater as much as possible for any acoustic concerts especially..
Really nice small theatre with comfortable seating, and a good view of the stage from any seat.
The theater seats were a little uncomfortable for us. Overall we enjoyed one of the funniest comedian of today Lavell Crawford! He simply showed up and showed out! What an AWESOME show!! Thank you LAVELL!
Seats and flooring are not the best but this venue is beautiful.
Aside from the steep stairs its Great. They have a wide variety of musical and dance. They do have a cash bar and elevators for the handicapped. There are plenty of volunteers to assist you with any seating questions.
Great event! Really nice place. Seats not very confortable but the space is small too. Any seat is a good seat however front row is too close to scenario
Great historical small venue! Beer was $8.00, on the downside.
The staff and management went above and beyond for my family! I would never be able to put into words how very thankful I am for helping us with a seating situation!
Conserve a little bit of more snacks but all was great love the play of Charlie Browns Christmas
Very pretty mid-size venue features a fairly vertical audience space that allows for a more intimate experience.
Went to see the Cornyation during Fiesta. Great venue for intimate events. Just be mindful if you elect to drink alcoholic beverages...lots of stairs.
A Charlie Brown Christmas was a treat with the kids this year! They loved the entire theater experience!
Love the theatre but chairs in the boxes could use some cushioning
We watched Potted Potter and loved the show. Seats and view were perfect.
Everyone was so knowledgeable. Was easy to get in and out from show.
This was my first time to see a show here. I loved the atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. I look forward to coming again.
Nice theater with old world style and good acoustics
Randy Rainbow, I love you!!!
Beautiful structure with incredible exhibits...5 stars.
Small historical pretty. Appreciated its size and history. Quaint. Cozy. Music sounds great there. Even balcony seats are good.
Amazing! Free! SUCH a gem! This was the Musical Bridges Around The World (MBAW) program. We saw the Joey Alexander Trio. Fabulous venue, truly world class performers whose music took us on various journeys, one after the other. Just a super cool thing to see and hear, all with no charge... yes, completely 100% free! The one little downside was that theatre was freezing, but the event STILL got my 5 stars, and earned every bit of them!
Great venue, great concert, accomodating with ease.
Such a beautiful and fancy theatre.
Beautiful theater in down town San Antonio Tejas. Excellent small venue.
Its a beautiful theater! They have ushers, and they are extremely helpful. The show I saw was produced by Magik Theatre and was EXCELLENT!
Beautiful, small facility. Came to see Magik Theatre preform here. We bought our tickets online. Chairs were comfy. Bathroom was downstairs but It was clean. Parking is close by. Good restaurants close by.
Clean, professional, and enjoyed my time here.
If your over 6 ft tall good luck. The seating is very cramped in the balcony section
Saw The Hot Sardines at this lovely little theatre. It is just the right size this kind of musical experience.
Went to see jose sartui a comedian he was great. Couldnt stop laughing the place was nice, clean and the staff was friendly
Saw my boy Lavelle Crawford. #allTHAT
Nicely decorated theater with good views of state from most seats
Cat in the hat live was fantastic!
Great seats! Excellent production.
Great shows In a beautiful venue
Great small venue. All involved from the time you walk in, make you feel welcomed.
Great experience when watching Cornyation during Fiesta Week, San Antonio. Good accommodation
Great theater in downtown San Antonio. There doesnt seem to be a bad seat in the house.
It was very clean. The staff was very accommodating.
Its full and history and beauty. Dont miss the inside of the elevator, be sure to look up.
Fun venue
Nice intimate room for a show! Great sound and not a bad seat in the house!
