A true hidden gem. I miss treating myself to movie here. They have great pieces of local art and a great selection of movies that you won’t find anywhere else. I can’t wait till they open back up

This is one of my favorite movie theaters to go to because of the kinds of movies they show here which are usually art house films. Seating is really nice as is the newly renovated lobby area. The service is excellent and the staff are always friendly and helpful. All in all I always get a great feeling at the Bijou and have a wonderful movie watching experience.

Been coming here for many years. Love the quaintness of this place. Have grown through MANY changes and have loved them, except, the ART... PLEASE BRING THE ART BACK. Im speaking for 3 generations, 17, 48, 80. We looked forward to it and spent much time appreciating it..

This is my favorite theater. Its quiet, uncrowded with a nice seating area to have a drink before or after your movie. The food is wonderful, especially by movie theater standards. They are often the only place showing independent and documentary films the week they come out and I appreciate them so much for that. Parking is really easy and free!

The popcorn was excellent and fresh! The attendant at refreshments tonight gave me hot popcorn straight for the hopper. No butter needed. The theater was clean and spacious. Love the bijou. A lot more pleasant than overcrowded theatres.

Much nicer inside then out. I wasn’t expecting it to be so clean and updated based on the shopping center/mall it’s housed in. Staff was friendly. Bar was very small though, not a lot of options. Mixed drinks came in a can, wasn’t too impressed but other than that the location is wonderful!

Many Santikos theaters in San Antonio recently underwent a major renovation. New leather reclining seating was installed, grand entry lobbies now welcome guests, and film memorabilia lines their halls. The Bijou is no exception and it also received an overhaul. But it didnt need one. It didnt need anything. The Bijou is the best theater in San Antonio regardless of appearance because the true quality of a theater is not measured by its amenities, but by the quality of the films screened and staff on call. The staff at the Bijou are as friendly and welcoming as you will find. They never fail to make you comfortable. And the films are on another level. The Bijou features foreign films, independent films, obscure cinema, classic cinema, creativity, and inspiration. In short, quality films. If the Bijou ever closes, San Antonio will lose its best movie theater, and maybe its only venue that truly represents not just movies, but cinema as a whole. Bijou is the best.

This cinema is a hidden gem. Most guests visit the larger theaters and forget that this one exists. You can order food as you enjoy your film. The seats are comfy, though they do not recline.

This place doesnt deserve the name Santikos. Weve come here in two occasions. The food is disgusting. Like, downright inedible. The first time, I ordered a patty melt. Burger was definitely microwaved, tough, no flavor, and Luke warm. On the second occasion, ordered a simple hotdog. Similar problem, COLD fries, cold hot dog, and stale bun. Definitely wont be back.

The theatre always looks clean. The movies are most often top notch. Theres usually a man playing a piano in the lobby, but he wasnt there tonight and I missed him. There were no paintings by local artists on the walls, and I missed those, too. The employees are kind and very efficient. We left laughing tonight, and the employees that told us good night laughed with us as we were leaving - which was endearing.

Ordering and eating inside the theatre! Dont miss a moment of the movie. And, its good and real food, not just popcorn and hot dogs.

The seats are extremely comfortable and this cinema has many limited run movies you wont find at other places in town. The service is great, and Santikos gives back to the community. If the movie I want to see is playing at the Bijou, I always see it here!

Love this theater... great seats... food and alcohol... and great movies ..Linda Rondstat/voice was fantastic. It will be impossible to see this movie and not want to sing.. or at least hum... If you cant enjoy people so caught up in the movie that they want to sing..dont go ...the story of the life of this American treasure is remarkable. You will laugh. You will cry. You will be surprised at her life, her loves, her NEED to sing. I had forgotten just how many songs were hers and even more surprised to find out songs she sang as backup or duets. She is a graceful energy in the face of adversity. My walk away? Take life at face value..do what is you! Dont waste time!

This theater has went down hill, dont enjoy the food or atmosphere. The new seats are so uncomfortable they should have kept the old ones. Never forget to bring winter coat. The place is always freezing cold.

Best kept movie theater secret in town! They always have a good selection of Indies, documentary and blockbuster movies, and the food service and beer is a great addition!

This place is way underrated. I highly recommend this place for adults looking for a fun night out. There are no children allowed at the Bijou.

The spot for those artsy movies that you can’t get anywhere else in the city, this places film offerings alone gets it 5 stars. And the rest is of course a well run Santikos theatre with respectful patrons and a eclectic menu unique to this location.

My favorite movie theater in San Antonio because independent, foreign and others films not always shown at the mega-theaters are presented there. Plus, Ive also run into actor Tommy Lee Jones there.

The theatre was nice and big. Seats were nice and wide, but reclining feature was only a spring loaded back, not like the mechanized in some other locations. Sound quality was quite disappointing considering it was a rockumentary. 3 stars means it was ok and thats very appropriate.

Atmosphere good, staff pleasant, but no hot drinks as the coffeemaker has been down so I was told. Do not order the brisket sandwich. Brisket had so much fat & grisel in it that couldnt eat it.

Food was good. They loaded the tots, I dont eat cheese or bacon so this meant tracking someone down to fix during the movie. Replacement came fairly quickly.

A great place and convenient parking. Recommend this place for great movies to see.

Before the movie started, they absolutely assured that nobody would be on their phone, I appreciate that. I had an overall positive experience and enjoyed my time.

I have been going to this theater for over 15 years. I will gladly drive across town to go there. I particularly enjoy the man playing the keyboards. I have talked with him and he is very talented and is a joy to speak to. This theater is unique in all of San Antonio. The crowd is mostly older and mellow. The prices are a bit high but the service is excellent. If you don’t like it, please don’t come back. This theater is a jewel. Not for everyone but with luck you will mature and enjoy it as much as the rest of us.

This icon is working hard to update and improve the unique entertainment so under appreciated! I hope their investments improve the quantity of customers!

Theater was clean, quiet and well-staffed. Restrooms were clean and well cared for. No ugly odors either. I ordered food once i got to my seat. Service was prompt and efficient. Food was tasty and at a correct temperature. I will come back to this theater for sure!

Dont know when it happened but the Bijou has been renovated recently. Though we havent come very often weve always had a good experience at this particular Santikos venue and the updates have made it even more enjoyable.

Probably my favorite theater in town because it shows all the foreign + independents. Especially love the art shows they curate here seasonally. Since recent renovation, even better! I have been here more than a dozen times, but to the mall when open only three times maybe!

Love this movie theater. Although it is under major renovations, it is inconvenient with limited services like snack bar, I wouldnt go anywhere else for a peaceful and comfortable movie experience. No children and teens in theater! Love it.

The new seats are very comfortable, everything seemed fresh and new and we were told that the continuing plans for updating the theater include a nice bar and an improved restaurant. The staff was very friendly, and there were people at every station, unlike some theaters which seem like a ghost town. If there is a movie that gets great reviews, but you cant find it anywhere, try the Bijou. They show art movies, foreign films as well as top rated popular films. We love the Bijou, hope you will give it a try.

Wonderful independent movie house! The Bijou plays films you cannot find anywhere else and the mature crowd is definitely a plus! I love this place.

The theater itself is okay, but the clientele there is absolutely HORRIBLE. Went with a friend to this theater and sat down next to an older man. It was during the pre-previews to the movie, the lights were still not off. So we took our seats and while quietly wrapping up our previous conversation about the impression of this theater (we liked it). This man rudely said people also like to watch these before the movie as well, I took it with a grain of salt and told him we will do our best to not disturb him. My friend asks me a quick question after that, and he very loudly told her to shut the f**k up. All this is happening before the movie even started. Needless to say, after confronting his absolute rude behavior, we went to the manager to either have him move seats or be removed entirely. But according to “corporate” because he wasn’t alone, he was with 3 other older women that said nothing, he would not be able to be forced to move seats. Messed up that movie theaters allow these Types of behaviors to stay without any penalty. According to the manager they have had these types of complaints in the past and can not do anything about it. We were able to get our tickets refunded, because we were too appalled to watch the movie still. Overall the theater was fine but the people who go there are not.

Great place to catch an independent film or art flick. As with all the Santikos cinemas, the self serve sodas and icees are the bomb. Friendly staff. Clean. Recently remodeled.

The Bijou is the only place in San Antonio to see the great independent movies. Most theaters have very nice seating. Very reasonable matinee pricing.

Comfy seats ...food is ok...not bad but not good!

My favorite place to catch arthouse and indie films. The inside is cozy and has neat chalkboards with artistic renderings of movie titles. The food is decent. The only downside is the crowd tends to be older and more than once have not been quiet.

We’ve been going to the Bijou theatre for almost 10 years, and it’s a hidden gem. As members of TPR Cinema Tuesdays, we’ve enjoyed the summer series of indie & foreign films and the exceptional service here. Stanley was our first exceptional server, and Sierra continued the tradition. We can always count on wonderful films, with great service and tasty food and beers. We greatly look forward to the new renovations, and do let us know when the kitchen & bar renovations are complete. Cheers!

The only theater that features foreign and independent films. The only downside is the current featuring of documentaries..the turnover time of films has beenlncreased quite a bit over what has been in the past. .another concern is the playing of many mainstream movies that are playing at most of the theaters in town.

Ive been going to the Bijou for years. Its my favorite theater. I love that they show independent films for an adult audience. I do wish they hadnt completely automated though. I miss the ticket booth and the art display.

Thoroughly enjoyed the movie, atmosphere and the ambience.

Temp location for our Doctor Who meetup group. Personally, Id love to keep it here, if it were up to me, as its closer to my house than the Rialto, but their strict age limit excludes the kids of some of our group, so its not an option for the powers that be.

Only giving two stars because what other theatre shows good independent films? If I were rating based on the service from waitstaff alone, I would only give 1 star. Waiter brought the wrong drink, left my tab open without asking, and didn’t bring me my receipt. I had to ask for it after the movie had ended and he said “oh, is the movie over?” and then asked for my card again even though he took it from me when we first ordered our drinks before the movie even started.

Considerable improvements have been made. Always liked the place, but the seats are much more comfortable now, and I appreciate the better, more attentive service as well. Pretty good wines available for a movie theater. Nice place to escape to and see something that most other theaters in the city dont have lined up.

It feels like a small rinky dink theater that time forgot but in a good way. Known for showing independent films, this is good getaway from the over-the-top, high-end mall theaters. You can order food and drinks from concessions, or you can order from your seat once inside. Its a great little gem.

The Bijou Cinema itself is not a bad theater, but it seems that 9 out of 10 employees have developed a new speed: slower than a snail. The first issue was that apparently the manager felt that only one employee was required at the register, which is where you handle everything at once (purchase tickets, choose seats, order snacks, get snacks) Note: this is terribly inefficient when you have 8 people in line. After 10 minutes with no line movement, several patrons noticed that the assistant manager stood watching from about 10 feet away, while not feeling that customers were important enough to open another register. Also, when the assistant manager could not get in to the drawer for prepaid tickets, she had to call the big manager which took her own sweet time coming down the stairs to resolve the situation by handing the assistant manager a key to access the drawer. I was absolutely sure that someone there was being pranked, but nope...this was irritatingly normal. Its sad that this is the only theater that shows art house films in San Antonio.

Love love love this place I brought my kids and we had so much fun, used to frequent the palladium, but this one is awesome and smaller...
