Great staff, probably the coldest of the county pools but thats awesome for lap
Lovely swimming pool, perfect temperature. You cant love it.
The staff was helpful and everything was sanitized regularly. Even with the current restrictions, I am so thrilled to be swimming .
Its a really fun place for a fair price. I wish it had just a little more for the little ones to play on though.
Horrible experience very rude. Unprofessional.
Although the Sugar House aquatic center is an older swimming facility, with few extras, it still manages to shine. It seems simple and short on frills (no whirlpool, steam room or jacuzzi and only a few exercise bikes and elliptical machines) but still appeals as an inexpensive, friendly and sought after pool experience.I love to swim laps here because of its large salt water pool, surrounded on two sides by two story glass windows that connect you with picturesque trees and beautiful nature in the surrounding Fairmont Park. They usually play music and, for some reason, its easy to imagine swimming on a peaceful mountain lake or in the sea. Often the sun shines through the tall windows and into the turquoise water, creating dancing light that adds to the energetic ambiance of my workout.
Two times within 2 weeks that no lifeguard shows up in the morning.
Because its too cold for me in the morning, Ive swapped my cycling kit for a swimsuit. I live close to the Fairmont Aquatic Center, so it made sense for me to give it a try.The center is a part of SLC Parks and Recreation, so is partially funded by the ZAP (Zoo, Arts, Parks) program. A single visit costs $4.00; a monthly pass is $22.00.There are two pools. One is exclusively for swimming laps; the other is larger, shallower and warmer for splashing about and includes a circular current lane.Several schools use the lap pool for their swim teams. Occasionally, the local police will have a fitness session. Which brings me to the missing star. For me, it is somewhat random as to whether Ill find a lane for laps. Splitting is an option, but Im not a fast swimmer and it can be awkward to split with someone who is more accomplished. Tuesday and Thursday mornings after about 7:30 am seem to be the most likely to have open lanes. Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings are the busiest. If swimming is your thing and you live in the Sugarhouse neighborhoods, Fairmont Aquatic Center is worth a try.
We love going swimming at this pool. Its alot of fun for kids. Its always so clean and the staff is so friendly. The lifeguards are very well trained and are attentive.
Great facility, pricing is fair, locker rooms are always clean. I like that the lanes in the lap pool are shallow to deep so you won’t get stuck in a shallow lane if they are busy. I’m between here and Steiner sometimes but will drive a little farther to come here instead because I like the pool better and they also have a kid pool. Friendly staff.
Fairmont Aquatic Center is a great place to swim with your family or by yourself! It is pretty clean, and medium sized. They also have swimming lanes to practice! You should definitely come!
Not crowded, great water elements and features for the kids and inexpensive.
It was a good time. The people that check us in was very helpful and nice. The time was short but they can swim after the reservation and before the reservations. We have a good birthday party
Not a large pool but still has a water slide, a canal and the small kids play area. Changing rooms are always clean. It is always a win for the kids and the price cannot be beat.
Such a fun center to swim with kids and splash and play!
Took my three youngest kiddos here to swim even though its a 20 minute drive. The cost is doable, theres a small indoor slide and a lazy river. For the size of the pool, they do have several fun things for the children to do. They have life jacket bins easily accessible for those who need a little extra safety.
I have been visiting this place regularly for over a year and a half. They have really fun water aerobics and water walking classes. They also have classes for babies! The instructors are all pretty amazing and experienced. Really nice, genuine people.I had to minus a star because they could use a bigger parking lot.
Lovely little lazy river and kids area. Does exercise classes. Just if you want to use the deep pool, schedule yourself when the swim team is not there.
When we get to the pool, its clean & very fun. But for the life of me, the staff has no idea when Open Swim is. I get told OVER THE PHONE, BEFORE WE LEAVE, that Open Swim is at the time I asked about, so we show up, only they to be told the wrong information. Unbelievably frustrating.
This pool is a great resource in Sugar House. It is part of the Salt Lake County recreation centers so is reasonably priced. There is a Masters Swim practice M, W, and F at 6am that is well attended and has a fantastic coach. The lap pool is 25 yards with 8 lanes, so plenty of room. There is also a leisure pool with a lazy river that is used for exercise and fun. And of course there are plenty of kid-friendly amenities like a water slide, splash buckets, and a beach-like entrance for the smallest people.
This guys keep the facility clean & organized. Everyone is Super nice, my suggestion is a bit more detail info on the web about whats going on every day in full plus let the young ones at front desk inform ya as well. Went there couple days months ago with my kids after a long time & got us in not knowing that was closing early for swimming lessons . They gave me credit for the next day & I was lucky to attend so had a happy ending.
My six-month-old and I come every week to take the star tots class! They teach babies to float on their backs if they ever fell into water. Plus, it’s so cute to see all the babies learning to swim and feeling comfortable in the pool.
Great facility for all abilities.
Kids love it. Parents like it
Wish it had a hot tub. Water is warm, has some very nice equipment. Swimming instructors seem to work well with children. Very glad to have a special class for my autistic nephew.
This is a great indoor poolWith a lot of light and a lot of lanes. Not too crowded (1130 am Monday). Good locker room andshowers. Kinda weird communicators at the front desk. $4. Good for adults.
Friendly and courteous staff, as clean as the patrons leave it. Its a large place full of water and people, so. . . I notice they constantly check the pH and chlorine levels, which is good. Wish they had more options though, a lap pool, and a kiddie area/lazy river is about it.
Good pool. Nice lazy river and slide
Great price. My kids play while I do laps and everyone is happy.
Affordable swim and gymnastics and yoga classes
Had a fabulous bday party there thanks to 1 lady only! I wish I could remember her name but she came in on her day off to Accommodate my kids birthday party! Nice clean facility
Affordable both daily and year pass. Provides a wide range of physical therapy equipment for people to use. Friendly staff. Clean.
It had a nice pool. It seems like it is more for kids than adults. It would be a good place for kids just learning how to swim.
Beautiful rec center. So glad we found this gem!
Good priced. Clean & fun.
Great public pool. Friendly service, good programs, good hours. Highly recommended at anytime a year!
This aquatic facility is great. Affordable, convenient and clean. I would give it five stars if it werent for their crummy lap pool hours. There seems to always be a club or special event using a great deal of the lanes.
Was expecting at least a small area for bigger kids to swim, not just the slide. Deepest part of the free swim area is 36 which was fine for my 4 year old, not so much for the 12 year old. It was nice enough, and people were friendly.
Sam is my kids swimming teacher and he is great! The place is pretty good to, my boy always has fun swimming and messing around.
Fun pool, great slide, super cheap!
Pool is nice, clean. There are a lot of classes to choose from.
Visit during the middle of the day on a weekday, and its pretty quiet for lap swimming (25 yards). Very clean. $4 entry. Wish they had a spa for warming up, but hey, a huge pool and a whirlpool are more than enough!
Two pool areas. Dont have to share with the little ones. Gymnastics and tumbling available for reasonable price. Parking needs revamping.
Staff is friendly and facilities are kept clean.
It has the childrens wade pool on one side and the lap swimming on the other side. This makes it nice to swim. I took my granddaughter to the children area and we had so much fun in the lazy river...
Fun pool for the kids of all ages. Seems clean and great whistles on those lifeguards, jk love the place and so do my kids.
Swimming hours are different than shown. It starts at 12:30.
Chlorine to strong inside pool...
I can only say what my experience has been going with my 3 year-old and having him take swimming lessons (so Im not sure how Fairmont rates against others, or with regards to competition). Weve loved the wading pool, and I have felt very safe with lifeguards constantly walking around, looking to see if someone is struggling in the water. I appreciate the lifeguards immediately reminding people of the rules. It may seem harsh to some, but I think its important to prevent injury. The class my kid is in is fantastic as well--we have a very kind and competent instructor. Facility is also very clean and tidy. Love Fairmont--Thanks!
Great place to swim.to bad they dont have deeper free space pool for teenager and grown ups to swim.
This review is mainly about the terrible swimming lesson we went to today. My son is 7 and we put him in the Yellow swim lesson group because it seemed to fit him perfectly. Most of the kids were younger and much younger. Almost for the first ten minutes of his thirty minute lesson, the swim instructor (young, male, with big black-framed glasses, AVOID AT ALL COST!) helped the kids put their goggles on. He should have had them do it or deferred them to their parents to help. Then, some kid pooped in the pool and swimming lessons moved to out of water. That was fine, it happens. The swim instructor had no idea what to do. He even told a nearby swim instructor I have no idea what Im doing. Obviously. He then proceeded to have the kids stand around, look at some of the toys, and then he showed them the pool vacuum they were using to clean up the poop. I think he then forget he was teaching swimming lessons and proceeded with helping troubleshoot the pool vacuum... I talked with the head swim instructor (she looked 15 and had no idea how to go about handling this problem appropriately). It turns out she was supposed to be helping him this week but she mishandled swim instructor teaching schedules and he was on his own for this week. I went to the front desk and had to fill out a written request for a refund, citing all the reasons above. I will be signing my son up again in the red group, which he technically doesnt belong in, but Im sure the average age group will be older and I hope to have a more experienced instructor for my son.
Cheap, high quality place to swim. I was doing triathlon training here and they were very accommodating. There was always an empty lane to swim in.
The staff is outstanding! My teacher Patty is nothing short of AWESOME! And, the people in my class are so friendly, & helpful when needed...
The best place to swim in Salt Lake county.
Not very well lit. Staff isnt friendly, they just do their job. The pool feels and looks dirty
My kids had swim lessons from here. They did a good job.
Nice pool for swimming laps. Not the best Salt Lake rec center though for other types of indoor fitness (e.g., cardio or weights). Id give it a five star rating, however, the pool is a little warm when doing a hardcore workout.
I have gone here a few times. Every time I go I take my 2 year old to the lap pool. Today one of the managers had one of the lifeguards tell us that we couldnt be in that pool because its for laps only. He then told us that we could continue doing what we where doing in the other pool. Then an other guard told us we had to go to the lap pool for it. So I went and talked to the manager and she had suggested us going to an other pool. So if you are trying to teach your child how to swim dont go here
I really like the place but the schedule can be frustrating with kids classes, high schools, pool cleaning and the kids pool closing several hours during the day. Their use of the whistle for the kids to take a break is unbearable: long, ear-piercing and made my baby cry. Otherwise love both pools, the total body water aerobics and the yoga classes. Just wish the latter had later hours.
Great place! I have been working with children and adults in the facility for 13 years now. They seem to make sure I get the pool space that I need to help my clients.
My daughter is on the swim team who practices here and often has meets. Great pool with windows all over providing great light. Also fantastic viewing area for spectators
This place is great. It feels very nice, open and airy compared to most public indoor pools Ive been to, and the admission price is awesome. I wish they had a whirlpool/hot tub but other than that 3 stars all the way.
Beautiful facility for swim meets.
The swimming pool is beginning to show signs of disrepair and the changing areas dont offer a lot of privacy. Generally a good experience though!
Love the in door pool kids love it too!!
Amazing place to swing recommended
Pretty good
Great place for inexpensive swimming lessons for kids.
Ok place to train if you are ok with old outdated equipment. Customer service variates from excellent to mediocre. Watch out for weekend events. It gets crowded.Parking can be a pain.
Its a great little place to bring kids. They have a lap pool and a pool for kids with a slide and lazy river.
If you want to lap swim I would buy a couple of day passes to see where you stand in the pecking order! There are swim clubs and swim teams who take over the place, leaving no room for the paying patrons. The facility is poorly run and very expensive for people who dont have the cash to exercise. I found a bloody panty liner in the pool run off which was the last straw. Whoever is managing this place should be fired!
Pool is ok. At times there is a strong chlorine smell (indicates chloramines) which is never good. Otherwise not too expensive for a fair place to go
We have gone to this pool now 4+ times. Each time I call the front desk ahead of time and ask specifically if the slide and splash area will be turned on to which they say yes it will be. When we get there and pay full price the pool is not running any of the play equipment until 7 oclock. Open plunge hours are from 4 to 8pm however they have decided to do swim lessons in the same pool which means they shut off all the play equipment every day until 7. No slide=no fun. Fist of all, I have watched these swim lessons several times and do notSee how they are accomplishing anything when they are being given right along side of 50+ other people playing and splashing in the same pool all around them. People pay for the lessons and others of us pay for the pool play area. Both parties are not being given a quality environment and def. Not getting their moneys worth. Either have open plunge and charge full price for it and offer the play equipment....or have closed off swim lesson times. Please do not try to make more money short changing your customers in the process by trying to hold both acivities at the same time. It is very poorly done, no one seems to be in charge at any given time when you bring up concerns orhave questions, and the schedule online does not reflect their changeable policy on this issue. Poor managment.
Came for the pool, and was impressed.I love to swim laps and the pool here is very well kept and cleaned.
Because they have great swimming lesson teachers Angela Cox is one of the swimming lesson teachers and she is very good at it and patient great person all around
Fairmont hosts the Otters swim team. They do an awesome job coaching. Thank you!
This pool is awsome and all and I am going again tomorrow and it is going to me fun because my cousin is coming with us I am going to have so much fun tomorrow
Fantastic swim programs for kids. Tesse Mae Took our reluctant swimmer and turned her into an enthusiastic competitive swimmer who loves being on the swim team.
Fun interior pool. They accepted my group of 30 kids for a field trip twice.
This place left me STEAMING and unfortunately not in the good way. I went here with a group of 17, all adults. We had called ahead so the pool knew we were coming. The only adult pool they have was lined off for lap swim only but there were only 3 lap swimmers in the pool and they were spaced 1 to 2 lanes apart. Even with this going on the first 3 lanes were completely empty. So we got in anyway considering the only other area to go is two feet deep and surrounded with children. The lifeguard immediately told us that we had to move to the other pool unless we were doing laps. Most of us left to sit awkwardly in the kiddy area all stuffed into one spot. Except for me, because I am not about to pay full price to stare at other people swim. The lifeguard ignored me for a few minutes to go tell some children that if they wanted to ride the slide they had to wait for the person Infront of them to go all the way up the stairs and go all the way down before they could start to go up the stairs. I digress, the lifeguard eventually came back to me and after a few failed attempts of getting me to lap swim, I finally got annoyed and asked for the manager. She told me that if I dont want to lap swim then the kiddy pool is where I need to be so that the paying lap swimmers wont complain. I informed her that because she is worried about (what seems like very entitled lap swimmers because they cant even be right next to a lane with someone in it) that she is now telling 17 people that paid the same amount that they had to be in the 2ft deep pool. She eventually got tired of arguing with me and told me that as long as I move from on side of the pool to the other in a lap lane then I could stay in that pool. The lifeguard watched me like a hawk and without fail he would blow his whistle at me and tell me to keep moving if I was going to slow for him. Needless to say, never going back. If you want a decent pool that realizes that not everyone whose older than 14 wants to lap swim or if you want to teach your kids how to swim ( which they wont let you do in a lap lane either) go to Kearns or something. Just dont ever go here.
The facility is awesome. I would give it five stars except that there are just way too many events going on here. If youre wanting to go here for lap swimming prepare to be frustrated. You have to check the schedule everyday because there are soooo many swim meets, community events, and swimming teams here. Really frustrating for someone training for an Ironman. Ive been kicked out of my lane several times by swim teams. The membership fee is reasonable, but not sure if its worth it unless you are part of a swim team or have kids that swim in the kid pool. I really wish they would keep at least 4 lap lanes open at all times...
The service was terrible. The man at the front desk completely ignored us for a few minutes then didnt smile, say hello or talk. When he finally looked at us, we had to ask him about swimming.
Very good place for kids.
Older pool. No jaccuzzi. Small play area. Locker room is dirty and smells. The front desk lets in transient people all the time to take showers in the locker room. There is a big problem with theft because of this. People have their clothes stolen from unlocked lockers. The old lady who staffs the front desk on Sundays is very mean and technologically illiterate.
Great kid area
Ducks, a pond, the occasional easter egg hunt with free chick-fil-a, This park got a decent selection of things to do and some large open green space to throw a football or frisbee.
Nice indoor kids play area. Just never know if the water will be warmed and which water toys will be on.
My girl is hot but fairmont is not.
Pool really needs to be cleaned
Great indoor pool for laps and kid games. If your an early bird and want to improve your stroke..join Maxs masters swim workouts at 6am Mon, Wed, friday
Very clean, help is nice and polite.
Their lap pool is perpetually overbooked.
Clean and well maintained pool
Great facility for swimmers. Lifeguards are very professional
Good for lap swimming. Locker rooms are clean
