It’s a good place to workout and do other activities like skating or hockey. The only big drawback is the service. Some of the staff are very unprofessional or straight up rude. If the location wasn’t as convenient, I would never come here again. There are better places.
The place it’s nice, no question about that.If there is a O star for their customers service, that’s what I would rated them. THEY ARE ALL TOTALLY BEYOND RUDE INCLUDING THE BIG BOSSES PERIOD!!! IF THEY DONT CHANGE THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY ARE GOING TO LOSS A LOTS OF CUSTOMERS!!!
Great location to watch some hockey. And they have two rinks totally awesome. Overall a great complex. Multiple events in multiple activities can happen at the same time.
Probably the best ice rink in Utah!
Thinking about getting a membership here. Great location and very clean amenities
Ice arena was useful and fun with lots of ice skates handled a large group (ysa stake activity) graciously.
Very nice facility. Two ice rinks inside, great seating. Overall very impressive.
Great place for our 14U tournament. Fun to see our boys play on an olympic sheet of ice.
Great place for work out. At the summer time they open outdoor pool which is great for training and hangout.
Great facility with lots of activities. The twin ice rinks are very nice.
Very cool place.. clean, staff very friendly..
The Salt Lake Sports Complex is very nice. They keep it well cleaned, however the inside pool was in need of being vacuumed. The water is very clean. The pool is not a chlorinated pool, but salt which makes it very nice and refreshing.
Great place to play hockey. Refs are not that great and there are 2 very unprofessional ones there.
Great facility. Clean. Friendly staff. Very reasonable prices.
I like the place. I always find a treadmill and usually a lane to swim. The gym isnt big, but isnt crowded either. They open Sundays too, which is uncommon in other cities in Utah. Personnel is friendly and as a plus you can workout while seeing high school hockey and ice skating teams train. I feel the parking spots are a little small, but I guess thats OK.
This is a great complex. Managed very well by Tiffany.
Ill give them five stars but once again I never went there but Ive never been there.
My favorite arena of all time. It is so warm inside and every seat is great. I love the rink where you overlook the game from above. Again, so warm inside there. Parking is easy and convienent.
Love/hate relationship here. You likely cant beat the annual membership price. This specific county gym has great amenities and a wide variety of excellent group classes taught by skilled instructors. Hours are stellar as well. Heres the hate part. I specifically use this gym for the pool because of some issues with my aging body. They consistently will sell out all of the lane lines to groups. Theres no notice or any way to check unless you call and they dont always answer. I get that they are a county facility but I believe this a major disservice to the much larger group of paying clients. They need to leave at least 1 lane open at all times for other paying costumers or at least give better notice and not just a note on the door when you drive there that the pool has been sold out. My annual membership is coming up soon and Im seriously contemplating not renewing.
It was fun I did sled hockey
One of the few places that doesnt have 8 million TVs in every single Direction You look. You can actually watch ice skaters while you work on the elliptical or treadmill. And the weightlifting room isnt full of young juiced-up Butthead jocks, its mostly older people just trying to stay in shape. Which Im much more comfortable with.
Dont use the vending machines. They rip you off and you wont get refunded.
The gym here is fantastic huge variety on equipment. Ice skating rink is a great place to walk in the hot summer months. Might even catch a hockey game or two.
Pretty cheap. Not very busy. A ton of parking
Holiday complex is great for families, hot tub is for adults only which I love, I come here to relax and soak my bones as I drive truck and in the winter it is a wonderful therapy
We dont go very often only spring time dor soccer
This would be--should be--a fantastic community resource--were it not so expensive for the taxpayers to use. As of this review (11/2018) a day pass for the SLC Sports Complex is $7. Really? $7? To use a facility that was bought and paid for by our tax money to begin with? Really? When I first started going to this facility the cost was MUCH lower... like $1... or $2. Clearly the junta that runs this complex never took Econ 101 or theyd understand price elasticity. The whole point of these community centers is to encourage and promote the heath and fitness of the citizens. And the more you charge, the less likely--and less often they are to use it. These community centers--ALL of them--should be absolutely free. And this could easily be achieved with just a few changes to how they are conceived from the beginning--and how they are managed over time. This particular facility is lousy with staff--most of them superfluous. Every staff member = not just more wages--but more benefits--both short and long term; health insurance, vacation, sick pay--retirement. Cut back on staff and you dramatically cut back on the cost to operate. Next, allow 3rd party vendors to use the facilities--for a fee. (For example, allow personal trainers to train their clients @ the facility--at certain times--for a monthly fee; swim coaches; massage therapists; ice skating coaches; etc.) Next, design in and lease out cafe / coffee shop spaces @ each facility--either inside or outside--or both. These could be required to be health-oriented... juice / smoothie / vegan / etc--or at least have a certain percentage of these options on the menu. These space should be up for bid every few years and would provide millions in revenue over the life of the facility--not to mention increasing overall user satisfaction. Another idea to reduce staff (and thus costs) is to develop a system / network of VOLUNTEERS from the communities they serve; there are PLENTY of bodies available for a few hrs a day per week to handle many of the more mundane tasks. Also, out-sourcing most or all of the staff (maintenance, cleaning, etc) could also cut long term costs dramatically.
First class sports complex! After finding that EVERY SINGLE ice rink in the area had strange hours and were closed at peak hours on a weekend, I found this place. I wont have a problem finding a good place in the future because Ive found OUR place.
Love the pools. Outdoor 50m is great, relaxing hot tub. Love it all!
For Cafe Rio the food was consistent. GOOD. The workers seemed slow and a little unorganized. Orders stacked up and lines slow. We asked about Taco Tuesday, we are use to in DC and were told business was so good they didnt need it. A little arrogant.
Normally this place is spot on. We have had some recent experience that make me question the management of the ice surface. On a recent trip to the rink, a young woman fell and injured her face. She lost a lot of blood on the ice that was the left there for almost an hour. There has been three occurrences recently where the ice has been double booked. On these nights the ice is cut in half with no notice to the public, yet we are expected to still pay full price. The most recent experience came on 02/14/2018. The ice was double booked, my son takes lessons that due to the ice being cut in half were canceled without any notice to the coaches or the public. The public skate is on the same night every week, how could the ice be double booked when it has the same event on the same night every week? I understand that sometimes things need to change. Knowing that other events are going to be booked on top of the Wednesday public skate is information that could be added to the website so people can make an informed decision. I feel as though the ice is double booked and then nobody says anything in an effort to bring in more money. On the 02/14/2018 date my son was In the center of the ice practicing his hockey skating and was told “the center ice is for figure skating only”. We pay full price for half the ice and then are expected to not use the ice for anything other than skating in circles? We also had our bottles of water taken from us. I understand no food or drink (soda, juice) but I do not believe water is a problem. People were also being told “no holding hands”. It’s Valentine’s Day. I am fine with following rules that are in place to protect people. This recent experience showed me that after attempting to get more money by double booking, they then attempted to make sure nobody had any fun on the ice. I am very disappointed with the recent experiences at the Steiner ice rink. I feel like management may need to re-evaluate the rules and the way they book the ice.
I go for swimming on the masters swim team. The indoor pool is quite large. Ok weight room, but all of the machines are new which is super nice! I havent been to any of the other classes or used the ice skating rink.
A perfect day for a swimming workout. I only wish I could come every day.
Phenomenal staff and ice skating instructors
Fun skating!
We were there to watch a hockey game. It seemed nice.
Locker rooms are kinda nasty, parking sucks when theres hockey or figure skating events, but the gym is decent and its close to my home so Im a member.
Watched my grandson play hockey. Great facility and warmer than most ice rinks.
Ive only been there once and it was to watch a high school hockey game, but the facility was really nice and clean. Its a great, little venue for hockey games.
Allways nice
Good there scates hurt a little bit
I was disappointed because it was closed. For extreme weather conditions.
They have great classes and the pool is always clean. Their ice skating birthday parties are a lot of fun.
I like the indoor pool, but I especially love the outdoor pool. I have to take it down to 3 stars due to the weight room.... I didnt realize how much equipment my old gym had until I came here. The room is extremely cramped and the very equipment is limited. I definitely suggest getting the gym wipes so that it stays a little cleaner (Ive left with black hands that felt like they were covered in germs). Im currently trying to decide whether the pools are worth renewing my membership for.
Great place to find what you are looking for in fitness and relaxation. I look forward to the outdoor pool opening up for the summer. Friendly staff.
New to area. Came in and talked with a nice guy. Before i bought a year membership, wanted to check out faciltity and asked, if i would b credited the $8 pass that day. He said that was fine. I liked the facility, and at the end of my workout,, prepared to pay for full year with credit. However, was near closing time, and the machine had been turned off. Nice guy took my info, started the account, and put a message about a credit for $8. But when i came back 2 days layer, lady says they will not honor credit. I didnt feel like joining a place that nickles and dimes me, so i left.
Great ice small hockey Locker rooms
I have been going there for 4 years. The facility is clean the exercise equipment is old the staff is helpful. The city should put more into there facility.
Nice facility with two ice rinks. The facility also has a gym and pools. One ice rink has large stadium seating. The other rink has limited seating up high so you can see the whole rink.
Three words.... Do Better Please!
I do deep water aerobics six days a week and I love the pools we do it in. Clean womens dressing room, hot showers, nice place to come to my excerise.
Unclean locker rooms, lap lanes always full when there are any lanes available. Poor etiquette in the saunas
Very large facility. Well used. Great Staff. Lots of programs and room to do your thing. Lots of equipment. Extremely busy early and late.
Its a good ice rink!
Calling the facility with questions regarding swim lessons for my child was a joke. The person could not answer simple things such as how many children per instructor in the class, how many days is the session, are these instructors certified. Her response to how many children per instructor was oh just how ever many signs up for the time slot.
Very nice facility with plenty of lanes for lap swimming. I shopped around the other pools in the downtown & Sugarhouse area and this one is definitely the best for fitness minded individuals.
Great outdoor 50m pool (summer). Indoor pool and hot tub, ice rinks, weights, machines, yoga, stationary bike classes, etc
Cheap for the whole family, has a great gym, pool and two ice sheets. Plenty of free machines
Beautiful sports complex on the University of Utah campus that has 2 sheets of ice, a workout facility and an indoor and outdoor pool.
Love the ice and all the ice programs at Steiner. Great facility.
The whole enchilada at one placeCan you say PERFECTIONCan you say OUTSTANDING STAFFCan you say SPOTLESSCan you say 5 STARCAN YOU SAY - THIS IS THE PLACECAN YOU YOU YOU SAY HERE I COME
Great county resource. It has really nice equipment, and it is hardly ever crowded.
Excellent pools. Nice ice sheets. Phenomenal all around.
Id appreciate if they could switch from politics to gym related materials on their TVs.
Friendly staff and great facilities. I never feel unwelcome when my friends and I come for the public skate.
Impressed with the facilities and the staff. Very helpful!!!!!
Beautiful place. simply amazing skaters
I like this gym. Been a member two years now. My only issue is for how long it takes to get machines fixed. Two treadmills have been out of order for two months now and now another 4 are broken. It does not take months to get these done. Come on!
My daughter loves going to the skating classes here
Usually not crowded during day. They have Rowing macines, weight room, bikes, treadmills, eliptical macines. Can get hot in weight room and rowing area. They need fans. But still great place to workout.
It is a very nice place to do exercise and have fun. The staff are kind, the place is clean, and the equipment is old.
Very clean, and the ice is great!
Nice facility
This is a solid affordable gym. I wish there were half stars - Id give it a 4.5. The staff is very friendly and helpful and there is a pretty good range of weights and cardio equipment. I have never had a training session but Ive lifted alongside many people having training sessions and the trainers are extremely knowledgeable. Ive belonged to gyms across the country and they appear much more knowledgeable than the average trainer. There are also two full size ice rinks and an indoor and outdoor pool. Id give it a five star review if there were more weight options (e.g. barbell squat rack, dumbells over 70 pounds). Though, again, overall it is a great affordable option with plenty to keep you occupied and in shape.
Great Corey rec center
Our family loves it. Gets busy on weekends and after 5.
A great public recreation facility, the outdoor 50meter pool is excellent
The weight room is lacking weights:. No barbells.
Great pool!
Great place to watch grandson play ice hockey..
Great rink and seating for spectators.
Great venue for UFC events.
Clean facilities. Friendly staff. Many different options for work out available. Do aikido.
Good gym and pool
Kids sports camps and ice skating program
Great pools, clean facilities.
Favorite spot to tailgate before the game! Go Utes!
Great place for events, the staff is easy to work with to plan things like hockey tournaments. 2 ice rinks!
Sporty poo.
Rinks are great. always clean
Nice place with ice rinks, pools, and a gym
This is an excellent facility. My mediocre rating comes from crowded pools, full parking lots and a poorly maintained locker room.
Great for anyone interested in doing physical activity.
The swimming pool is ok, if you are visiting for an event be sure to be at least 30 min early because parking has very limited space.
