Great place to take the kids for a little outing. It’s free and there is plenty to do and see. It’s located in the gateway mall so there is a charge for parking.
Loved the show at the Hansen Dome. Only complaints, not allowed enough time to look at exhibits. And finally, I know there are no concessions allowed in the dome but after we wanted popcorn, and they wouldnt sell us any despite us saying we were leaving that moment.Anyhow, it didnt stop me from becoming a member. My daughter wants to become an astronaut and I think well be attending frequently. Hope this Covid ish gets over soon. I want to see some light shows etc. Thanks Clark, hope we have more time later yk explore digs more thoroughly.
This place is great to go on and see. I had visited this place many times before. I also saw the shows too. It was an amazing experience.I could go there again, but due to the pandemic, it would be crowded by many people. I can return once all conditions are back to normal.
Ive been coming to Clark Planetarium since I was young. Such a fun creative place to learn and adventure around in. Perfect for imaginative humans or kids. The laser shows are beautiful and always a treat, especially if you drop a tab ;)
What a great spot to visit while at the Gateway. I love that there is no charge for admission to the facility and the shows are pretty reasonably priced. My son and I love the interactive exhibits. I think it’s an awesome environment for people of all ages to learn and see something different. This is definitely a place that will bring out your inner child and keep your children captivated.
Didn’t spend a ton of time there but had a great time! The place smells like a movie theater because of the popcorn, and it looks like their movie are a big part of what you can do their. We didn’t want any of the movies but still had fun. The thermal light cameras are so much fun!! Well honestly there was a lot of fun stuff to play around with. They also even had a little play area for kids.
Always a fun museum, especially if you are interested in astronomy or space in general. Lots of specimens of meteorites and asteroids. Lots of interactive displays.
The Clark Planetarium is an awesome place. I really admire that theyve opened it to the public for free so that kids have a great learning environment that parents dont have to break the bank for. Its honestly fun as an adult to come here too! There are so many interactive activities here and you could spend hours going through all of it. Then to top it off, go see an IMAX show at a decent cost with the kiddos. And this is a random detail, but the air conditioning in summer is AWESOME.This is a must visit place for all families with children of any age! (Including children at heart)
We love the Clark Planetarium! They have so many fun, educational activities. The movies have all been great whether theyre in the IMAX theater or in the dome theater. The facility is very clean and sanitized. The employees are all very conscientious about the cleanliness of the facility and everyone was wearing masks. Very helpful employees and very knowledgeable.
Great time...we only had 3hours to kill but could have spent more time here...had a great time.
Fun place to take the children. My son loves it here so a happy child makes for a happy life
What it’s free?! To our pleasant surprise. Plenty things to see and exhibits for the kids to keep their hands busy. And don’t be afraid to stop for popcorn at the middle floor for a little snack. Super reasonable when you think about what you normally pay for theatre popcorn.Kids loved it. Will definitely go back.
A great place to come and have a good time. Most of the stuff is free to just come and explore. It is fun every once in a while to watch one of their shows, but if you want to watch one of the shows, it’s definitely worth it.
This place is super cool and the movies they put on are fascinating. You can do so much for free here. I initially thought it was more for kids. Dont get me wrong, there were lots of kids there. But all of the adults were pretty engaged with the attractions as well and I personally loved it.
This place is superb! Lot of entertainment and knowledge! For adults and kids. Awesome personnel! So exciting!
Interactive and free (besides the movies). Drop a few bucks in the donation case or buy something from the gift shop if you have the means, access to science and astronomy for all kids is so important.
Excellent place to spend a few hours. I really enjoyed the 40 minute 3D movie at the imax theater. The interactive table games to form a stable planet system is very engaging. Kids love this place.
Great observatory, perfect size for small kids.
This an amazing place to take your kids for FREE. The movie costs money but the exhibits are free. My children range from age 6 to age 2 and they all have a fun time. The planetarium has added several more hands on activities and even a small indoor jungle gym (much of which is likely closed until COVID19 passes) so my kids stay entertained for hours. Its a great indoor learning experience!
Theres so much to see and do here it would take an entire day to get through all of it! Kids will be entertained for hours interacting with the exhibits on the three different floors. The rover sand pit was a particular favorite. We also saw a movie in the IMAX theater and it was very comfortable and well maintained. The dome was very interesting as well, but it felt like they could have adjusted the contrast settings a tiny bit. Everything was a little too gray. Theyve done a great job of incorporating video game elements into a lot of the displays. Kids wander up and begin to participate intuitively. I was there with four rowdy little boys and nobody complained the whole day, except when I finally told them it was time to leave.
Kid friendly and great IMAX theater. During COVID times, you need to make a reservation via the website in advance.
Went to the Rock the Dome laser show and it was just amazing! We were very lucky to have a live show. Great crew, amazing sounds, mind twisting graphics and awesome lasers.
This free space museum was lovely! The theater was clean and comfortable. It isnt huge but the presentations are interesting and well organized. The littles would like to go again.
Been here several times. There is always plenty to do free and even the shows are fairly cheap. Plus they are in 3d. How cool is that. If you love space like I do then I highly recommend this place. Or you are just starting your journey learning about space then you wont be disappointed. At least I wasnt.
Unfortunately I was in the Planetarium today at 11 in the morning with my three children and when I arrived a young woman who had her hair painted different colors, she said that it was very full and that she would be back in 20 minutes. After 20 minutes I returned with my three children and she told me that more people had arrived and that I could not enter, my children were super sad, we had paid for 2 hours of parking and we told the lady but she still showed indifference. conclusion: my children felt super bad because they had lied to them, because they are not Americans, my daughter says that if she were not a foreigner they would have let her in. Children should not be lied to regardless of their country or color. my children do not want to try to return to the planetarium or to another museum, for fear of being rejected.
Informative and transformative environment. Helpful staff. Let me enjoy the exhibits and sanitized along the wayPrices are great including IMAX Concessions.
They seem to have expanded since I last was here, my nephew loves this place
Go for the IMAX and Dome shows... Stay for the space themed video games!! :)
Really great place to go alone, on a date, or with the kids.
So awesome. Saw the black hole show too!
We like this place, but avoid Night Vision presentation. It felt like college power point presentation.
Very nice planetarium with a penomenal exhibit about Uranus with lots of pictures!
So much fun for kids! Worth it!
The exhibits are fun and the shows fascinating. 10/10
Super fun place for most ages. Neat stuff to look at for free and the IMAX is definitely worth the money. Plenty of interactive stations
I bought a telescope the gentleman was very informative and great to work with.
I enjoy this museum. Even at the age of 21, it allows me to have fun. A ton of different interactive displays and it’s all free. I haven’t tried the shows. The gift shop is good and has astronaut ice cream which is a childhood favorite for me. It wasn’t super expensive either. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend the day with the kids I highly recommend it.
Love this place! Fun exhibits, interesting games, great shows! I always enjoy myself when I visit the planetarium. The only downside is that the staff selling movie tickets seem to change policy every time I visit. Sometimes theyll let you in if youre 2 minutes late, other times they wont. But if youre on time for the show thatll never be a concern.Anyways, 10 out of 10, would recommend.
Super cool exhibits & it’s free!!! Can’t beat that! Just make sure you don’t come when there’s a field trip.... that was really annoying. Screaming kids everywhere and hard to see all of the exhibits. But tons of cool stuff to see, make sure you leave lots of time for it!
We wanted something to do Friday Night after our flight got delayed to the next day. This Planetarium is open until 11pm and was a wonderful experience (even without the shows) for all ages. And its free (unless you see a show)! Highly recommended.
A fun and very interactive place for the whole family to learn about space and the different planets. I love that the admission is free you only need to spend money if you want to see one of the amazing movies or buy concessions. (The gift shop is amazing too! And not too overpriced)
Good family fun and a wonderful educational afternoon!
Nice family please. Somebody except its cant be open because of the virus but other than that its great
A fair few exhibits are shut down currently due to COVID-19 restrictions, but that wont stop the other exhibits leaving you with a lot to think about. Very fun.
Great place to learn about universe. A lot of interactive expositions, physical experiments and visual information. Bring your kids - an one hour here = school physics course.
I havent been here since I was a kid, but this place is fun! Its open late, though the last movie is 7 or 8. There are a ton of fun interactive activities that teach you about space and other scientific principles. As a professional nerd, I could have spent all day watching the ball maze. Its mesmerizing! But I loved everything else there was to do. This is a great place for anyone ages 1-99 (Sorry centenarians, this place isnt for you). Ill probably be back again to do some more of the activities I didnt have time for.
Super fun and educational place to take the whole family. A must for any space fan. They could definitely charge an admission for the quantity and quality of the exhibits; thankfully, they don’t.
The Clark Planetarium shows kids and adults alike that learning is fun! I grew up in LA with the Griffith Park Observatory and this is WAY better in my opinion. All the stations and displays are just so cool, thoughtful, and informative. We love creating tornados, to searching for black holes, to watching water freeze and exploring the volcanic moon, Io. Best of all, it is free. Parking is free for the first two hours.
Highly recommend clark planetarium, very fun !!!
Not from this state, got tickets to a light show and ended up 15 minutes late. Tried every door, and after 30 minutes finally got some workers attention. I just wanted to see even FIVE MINUTES of the show we paid for, but the supervisor said that he couldnt let us in the show because they stopped seating. He offered a different date, but us not being from here, pretty moot point. Cool museum, but theyre definitely hard and fast on rules they dont tell you.
Drove an hour and a half to see it and didnt say it was closed due to covid till we got there super disappointing.
Went on a class field trip. The children had an amazing time. Took my family and they had a wonderful time.
This is a great place to take your kids. The admission is free and there are tons of interactive things for kids to do. Bored on a Sunday when half of the town is shut down? This is a good way to blow one to two hours.
Due to Covid-19 there were a few exhibits closed but most of the activities were still open.
So much fun! The kids I took loved the interactive exhibits, and I cant wait to come again on a date!
This planetarium is amazing, its not huge but filled with lots of activities. Amazing dome shows and Imax movies are a must. Make sure to arrive on time due to no late sitting after show started and doors closed as it gets very dark in the theaters (rules printed on the ticket). Prior to a show, Dan told us all about night sky, showed us constellations, stars, and galaxies). It was very educational and fun at the same time. Thank you Dan! Exhibits are fun for kids and adults. We visited Cape Canaveral planetarium in Florida and on in Los Angeles and all of us rated Clark planetarium higher!
Even though a lot of the hands on exhibits are closed there was so length for my 4 year old to stay engaged for the hour we were there. Were glad the planetarium is open again!
Holy cow, this place is great! Every display is engaging! I wish it had a little bit better flow; the weather exhibits seemed thrown in randomly. And they could probably use some noise canceling foam on some of the walls, because it got LOUD. Other than that, we enjoyed our visit very much. My kids favorite part was the Io room, with a surface like one of the moons of Jupiter, including being able to give a land rover commands, similar to the ones used by NASA. We were visiting Salt Lake for a week and went twice! So much fun, we will be back!
I love how it is free! Great exhibits and a awesome gift shop!
Great place to go when in salt lake city, Its free to walk around and enjoy the cool stuff they have there. Meant for kids ages 5 - 12 Older and younger can still enjoy themselves and the Parents can relax about taking them to a place that costs no money. However to go see a show costs money but there worth it. Excellent considering its free. and even if it wasnt, its an entertaining place to go but dont expect to spend more then an hour here if youre not planning to see a show.
A fantastic place to take the kids. Lots of cool attractions and interesting facts. 3D show is a great experience as well
The planetarium has so many exhibits allowing you to expand your mind about weather and space. The food prices are very reasonable, with a large popcorn being only $3. The dinosaurs of Antarctica in the IMAX was also fantastic.
Wouldnt so much call it a planetarium... its really a space themed movie theater with some hands-on stuff. The exhibits were small and not super informative. It seems like a fun place for kids but I can say as an adult the science museum part of it didnt have much to see.
Nothing but the best experiences here and have had family passes for the last 9 years! Best deal to see the most profound, captivating, as well as educational movies for only $20-$25 per person for the year for unlimited movies!! Much better deal than regular movie theaters!!
Beautiful museum with lots of interactive displays, a dome theatre and IMAX. Concessions are not terribly expensive and the museum gift shop has lots of educational items, including science based toys, telescopes, posters, and tees. All items reasonably priced. The planetarium is amazing. Huge difference from the old Minolta analog device perched in the middle of the dome I saw as a kid, with metal perforated plates it projected through. This one is all computer controlled, rear projected graphics. Admission is free and shows are $7 and last about an hour. Well worth it. My 3 year old daughter is fascinated with astronomy and loved it!
Great fun! Kids had a blast playing and learning. Saw the 3-d Dream Big show, totally worth the money.
Such a great place to visit, especially during the colder months! We are from out of town and have two small kids, and this was the perfect afternoon activity - educational and fun! I cant wait to go back again when we have more time to catch an IMAX or laser show!
Great place for anyone in the community. We love seeing the informational movies here. Interesting and fun.
I cant think on another Planetarium as good as Clark Planetarium. I absolutely love the place. The IMAX Theater and The Dome are amazing and the movies was so good (I recommend the one about Black Holes). Childrens will love this place
It was a great experience! Most of it is free! I have a 10 year old Sister and she loved it! There are three stories of fun!
This place is so much fun! Not only for the kids but for us parents also. I love taking our children to Clark Planetarium for the activities and learning. The kids love it and always ask to go back. They always have such interesting movies as well. I highly recommend.
The Planetarium is so amazing this year. They have a lot more interactive features an exhibits open all around. Lots of great little trinkets and stuff to add to any science dreamers heart.
This place blew my mind. It may be small but the prices on snacks are amazing and the fact that its free is just stellar. The gift shop has some awesome stuff. Great way to kill a good 30 minutes to an hour .
I love how hands on the Clark Planetarium is. They do a pretty good job at maintenance and rotation through displays, etc. They can get busy, especially being downtown and a free destination. If you go close to opening youll have an hour or so to really explore before the crowds arrive. They do offer a family restroom although its always locked. If your planning on taking your little one to the bathroom, its probably easier to use the regular ones than hunt down a key.The parking garage is free on Sundays so its definitely worth taking advantage of.
Super cute and FREE experience only the dome was a charge. Great info and lots of interactive options. Two levels and things all over. Nice gift shop w all sorts of options at every budget price point. If we were all not so hangry we would have stayed longer but we needed lunch.
A lot or things are closed because of covid. My suggestion, come back when everything is actually open.
So much fun! A great place to bring kiddos in this hot summer day. It is part learning and part play to get all their wiggles out.
So much to see and tons of fun things to do. We had a great time on a school field trip. A lot of educational games, toys and interactions.
Its interesting and fun, but I feel that you guys could expand the planetarium and add lots more.
Lots to do. With the exception of the shows, free. The Expedition Reef Dome show was rather boring. We had 5 in our group that ranged in ages from 9 and up. Not what we were expecting. Not worth it for us. The gift shop was closed when we were there. Would go back again. Snack bar staff very helpful and friendly! The guys setting up a new exhibit were awesome!
I love it here. The dome shows are fantastic and there are so many other things that are great.
Great atmosphere and vibe with delicious food and options.
I went here between flights to kill some time and j couldnt have been more entertained. When you walk in its spacious, colorful and well organized. The exhibits are free and you can walk around and the exhibits are interactive . You can create mini tornados, move mars rovers, adjust the planets in the galaxy etc. You will be entertained and the IMAX looks good and is interesting!
Gonna start by just saying YIKES.I would not go as far as to say that this comes anywhere near being a planetarium. Think Chuck E. Cheese meets Century Theatre, and throw a gift shop into the mix for good measure. Everyone working there is visibly unhappy, and if you stick around for too long I’m sure you will be too.Granted, they have some cool artifacts, but the educational aspect is entirely absent. It’s a real bummer - I love a good planetarium, but this is a miss. Don’t waste your time.
We loved spending time here as a family. You only pay to see the movies, you can actually enjoy the exhibits for free and my 2 boys loved that the most. We were also amazed by the 3D IMAX movie too and it was only $5 for a drink and large popcorn! I love the planet facts and displays to give you a better understanding of how things are and how they discover new things with new technologies. We have also tried the dome theater now and it was amazing to see how the night sky would look and what planets you can spot with the naked eye. The concept about elliptical orbits and how you must intersect orbits in order for interplanetary travel was very amazing to realize how they discovered this using Kepplers law. I also was able to ask the specialist about explaining to my kids about the seasons and it was neat to have a more gráficos explanation than me trying to do it myself with a basketball and flashlight. Kids didn’t want to leave!I’m considering the membership in order to see all the amazing IMAX films and support a place the shows such cool science and gets you thinking deeper. The universe is pretty amazing! Enjoyable time and good entertainment, would highly recommend.
I didnt expect much from a free planetarium, but I was blown away by how cool and unique each exhibit was. There was stuff ranging from mist tornadoes to world saving video games and Mars Rovers you could control. I spent several hours here and would have spent more if I went to the IMAX theatre.Fantastic for kids, adults and astronauts!Theres rotating events one a regular basis, coming back every few months for a new experience is a must!
Clark Planetarium is great to visit, especially with the free small exhibits. I’ll never get tired of seeing the laser shows, especially the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon show. If you are on a budget with kids, this is probably the best place to go. I’ve been here countless times and I’ll probably continue to come. The parking is close by, so you won’t have to walk very far in order to get here.
I really enjoyed all the exhibits and I watched dinosaurs of Antarctica very interesting. I plan on going again soon.
Worth the trip. The kids had a blast.
There are some really cool things to see here! Hours of entertainment.
I must have the nerdiest kids b/c this is where they always beg to go! Better this than the movies though. Im glad the Salt Lake area has a place like this for them to learn about our universe.
Spectacular Dome Theater. Exhibitions are marvelous and information is a blast!
This place has always done more to expand and grow. It is super impactful for the young and old which is hard to do. It is so fun going here since you can learn so much.
We love the Clark Planetarium. Memberships are such a great deal. The exhibits are engaging and experiential.
I went with an adult friend, no kids and we still had a good time.
Fun place to take the kids, they love every minute of it. I havent been here in a very long time and I am impressed with how much had changed since I was a kid. I also am glad they kept a few thing around that I remember back then.
Seriously an awesome place. It is free to walk around and has so many fun things to do and look at for free. The movies cost . The movies are educational and the workers give some good info before the film starts and are always willing to answer questions. They have a great gift shop and the prices arent too bad. I think kids and adults of all ages would enjoy this place. There is a parking garage right next to it which makes it easy. Im it sure what parking costs. Last time we went was a Sunday and it was free. They have a little food place but they o ly have a few things. Nachos popcorn, ice cream and pop. Not much else but there are restaurants around that you could go to if you wanted something more. This is a great place to take your family and essentially for free. Love it.
This place is awesome and such a great thing to have in our community!
So fun!! My boyfriend and I came here while visiting the Gateway up in Salt Lake and had a great time! We went at about 4pm on a weekend, and it wasnt very crowded at all. Admission is free, and the shows are reasonably priced. All of the exhibits are really neat. I love how theyve added more interactive exhibits and games. We stayed for maybe an hour and a half! Great place for families and date night.
Great place! Highly recommended, especially for kids of all ages.
