We were visiting from Texas and our hotel was just around the corner from us so we decided to check it out. This is a beautiful Museum, but most importantly, the people here were genuinely kind. We truly enjoyed our conversations with everyone we came in contact with. It was very educational. We highly recommend that you stop in and check it out!

I was in awe from the beginning to end of the tour. I was taken back to the early years of the church as it goes through the struggles, the persecutions, the triumphs, the prophets, the battles, the development right up to present day developments and changes. It was a pleasure to view upfront the actual clothing, instruments and implements used by the early pioneers in building and establishing The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, physically, socially, spiritually and financially. There are many relics on show from the early days of the church which brings one upfront and close to the sacrifices made by the pioneers. The history is remarkably captured as actual artifacts are on display symbolizing life and time sacrificed in the building of the latter day Kingdom on earth today.

Date of Visit: 1/12/2019OVERVIEW - 5.0Came here with my wife, our daughter, and my wifes friend visiting from Argentina. We figured this would be a good stop to learn about early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.LOCATION - 5The Church History Museum is located along temple square. Parking can be a bit complicated. I would recommend parking in the parking garage below City Creek. They offer two free hours.PRICE - 5The price is amazing at the price of FREE!PRODUCTS/SERVICES - 5The quality of the items in the museum are priceless. The majority of the items on display are original. There are also several interactive items for kids and adults alike.POINTERS/PERKS - 5The second floor has a section for children where there are several activities available. There are several areas as well for hands-on projects. There was a little portable cart where you could practice writing your name on a felt tip pen, also a replica of the Golden plates.VOLUNTEERS - 5The volunteers are so helpful as well as knowledgeable. One of the seniors gave us all kinds of details behind the martyrdom of Joseph Smith.

Wonderful new building which adds so much more to the existing artifacts, including lots of things for very small children. Kids can now interact with new things, like crawl through a log in the forest are where Joseph Smith found the plates. They can interact on touch screens, as well as adults. Complete tour would take about 3-4 hours if you did everything and did a thorough tour. Otherwise, you can spend an hour or two and be done. I like the more recent prophet pictures and information as well as their history and many places to take pictures with items and artifacts. Wheelchair accessible with elevators. Any age group are welcome. All indoors and climate controlled. No admission fees whatsoever. If special needs or wheel-chair theres plenty of room to be mobile without disturbing others. Very well lit. There seemed to be plenty of staff on hand to answer any questions as well. Good times.

We went with our family a couple weeks ago, it was very nice very clean very informative and organized. there were only two things one, it was very very busy there were a lot of people so you kind of couldnt appreciate the museum and the art work as much because there were a lot of children and families, even though they have a childrens area it was extremely full. The next one is it would help the volunteers just too smile little bit more and be a little more cordious. we went to see the Joseph Smith video and our family was literally divided and I think they were just a little bit rude Im wondering if it was because of the volume of people Im sure there were stressed out, but being first time there that would be just a wonderful thing may be to keep in mind.

One of the fun things about the museum is an original pioneer log house outside the front entrance. It was locked when we arrived, but when its not (probably in warmer weather) you can step just inside the door and see the furnishings. We could tell that by looking in the window. The museum is not large, but the two floors of exhibits are modern and attractively arranged, with a number of interactive features. There are plenty of volunteers on hand to answer questions.I took my two sons, ages 12 and 5, hoping to see the special exhibit for children, but it doesnt reopen until Feb 12. There was, however, a room with a few toys and books, including some old fashioned pioneer toys. My boys spent 15 or 20 minutes each on a painting app on a screen mounted on an easel, and another 15 minutes with other items. Then we walked through another exhibit I was interested in, but only for a few minutes because my 12 year old was ready to go. My 5 year old could have been happy for a while longer, I think, because there were so many things that caught his eye.Ours was a short visit, and we didnt see much, but since its free it wasnt a lost investment.Another plus was the free parking behind the museum.

What an amazing experience! I tell myself that I dont enjoy museums but after the fact I usually do. If you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints or not, it will still be an enriching experience. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It is free to experience and you dont need a reservation. You could spend 10 minutes or several hours here. There is something for the whole family, interactive displays, movies, artifacts, and some juicy facts! Have a wholesome time at the Church History Museum.

A unique experience which was enjoyed by everyone in our group from the 4 year old to the 84 year old. Its not very large so it doesnt take long to walk through and the gift shop is cute. I think it would be interesting for anyone who is curious about the Mormon church but would definitely be more meaningful for members.

There is not a lot to do in Salt Lake this time of year so the Mormon grounds was it. The people were all super nice and helpful. The artifacts were either imitations or most just from that time period that may have been used by the pioneers of the Mormon faith. Not a whole lot in the museum. Im not Mormon so if I were to convert I would need more evidence.

The 180 degree theater presentation, filmed on location in Palmyra, New York, is a great start on your visit. Young kids find neat doors to open and secret areas just for them. Fascinating items to see are the actual printing press used to print the 1st edition Book of Mormon, an actual printers manuscript page of the same, the outfit Hyrum Smith was wearing when he and his brother Joseph were killed & the death masks of both of them. Near the main floor bathroom is a medium-sized painting of Lehis Vision of the Tree of Life. It is amazing! For smaller kids, the top floor section for them is a nice break from running around downtown & Temple Square. I especially like the interactive toys and building sets. Historical artifacts abound from the Presidents of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on the same floor. A great gift shop with a myriad of items awaits you on the way out. The hosts are friendly, abounding with information, wit and resources for any question. Plan 2 or 3 hours.

This is a superb place to go to learn about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The ground floor of the museum walks you through the first years of the church. There is a short video of Joseph Smiths first vision. The film is projected on a panoramic curved wall. You feel as though you are right in the middle of the forest. Very respectful depiction. Lots of fun activities for all ages. The upstairs has a gallery with artifacts and information on each of the modern day prophets. The other part of the upstairs has a changing gallery. This year there is art from the worldwide art competition displayed. Truly talented pieces of art! We try to visit every summer when we are in Utah.

This place is nice and interesting and of course the people are nice because they think the need to in order to have a chance of saving your soul. But if you really want the true history of Mormonism, read: No Man Knows My History, by Fawn Brodie. Once touted by the Church as the Devils own writing, now tacitly admitted by the Church through an Anonymous series of essays published obscurely in their web pages. Now the church is apparently trying to morph into mainstream Christianity in an effort to survive the information age, as their dirty laundry is revealed in a simple Google search before their missionaries reach the sidewalk.
