Great historic spot. Beautiful view of salems waterfront
I been out there a few times its kewl but if ya Really want a Amazing Special place try Waikiki Beach, Winter Island .Salem Willows with the Lighthouse ( Which dates to like 1600s and has quite the history itself Wikipedia it ) in front and Fort Pickering directly behind ya which has an amazing story behind it also. You can feel the Spirits out there AMAZING . This pic was like 3 am on a Bicycle ride mid July Full Moon Blazing looking Due East out into the Atlantic Towards Europe
Mornings are very peaceful (only a few seabirds are around) and scenic, and free parking is nearby.
This is a lizard his name is finn
If you are from a place that is not near the ocean, then you must visit this wharf and lighthouse while you are in Salem. This place really lets you feel what the ocean is all about, without having to be on a boat, and possibly get motion sickness. Its a good long walk, but its nice to think of how many boats and ships must have been tied there at one time. Picture the smell of the tar of the ships, the shouting of the sailors, the seagulls swooping, trying to snatch one of the fish being offloaded. All is quiet now, in comparison. A peaceful walk, on a sunny day, the sea breeze in your face.
Liked checking it out
This is a great little walk with a beautiful view! we like getting lunch near by and then walking to the lighthouse
Gorgeous spot.
Very pretty and relaxing
Spent a pleasant afternoon here. Good cultural things
Its fun and open to the public to walk up and down this beautiful area.
The view is absolutely amazing but they should have more stone benches for those to sit and stay awhile.
Very nice its a shame a large part of the old wharf was destroyed in a storm. Hope they rebuild and fix it.
Nice photo area
Pretty view, always clean without any litter around.
Derby light house was fun and kids liked going to it, they only wish it was a light house to climb up in
Full moon made for awesome shoots
Its a very small and cute lighthouse.
Nice lighthouse in the Pickering Wharf area of Salem.
Wonderful views! Nice easy walk. Well worth the visit.
The long walk was cold and wet on our way out there, but the view was pretty amazing! Good experience!
We followed the red stripe that leads tourists around town to find this gem. The walk leading up to the light station is lovely, and even though the light itself isnt the most breathtaking, the views from every angle around it makes up for it. With that being said the light itself is still something to admire... Especially around the time the sun sets over the water in background.
Great walk on a nice day. A lot of history on that wharf and they have done a nice job of playing educational material along the walk to the end. This area provides a delightful place for a picnic or to just relax.
This historic wharf is a short, and enriching walk from the House of Seven Gables.
Check it out at night! Especially if its foggy.
Nice walk out to the light station. Not much to see once you arrive at the end of the pier, but there is plenty to learn with the educational exhibits on the way.
Awesome look out point
Love love love New England !!!
Cute little lighthouse. Lovely views from the wharf.
Beautiful small lighthouse with views of the ocean and Marblehead
Always a great walk before or after dinner. I got married here 3 years ago so it must be a great spot
Just a short walk from downtown Salem the views alone are worth the walk. Its very quiet and you can see the entire harbor.
It was a little foggy when my family and I visited but it was a wonderful hike to the Light Station.
Nice little walk out to the lighthouse, with little spots along the way with historical notes that the kids found amusing.
Love the view!
