Good place to learn about the history of school house.

This cute museum is run by friendly voulenteers with a passion for history. If you happen to catch it while its open, (weekday mornings/early afternoons are your best bet) come on inside, look around, and say hello! You can write on the slates on the desks, flip through the old textbooks, and maybe take something home from the small gift shop. All in all, a great place to stop by if youre in Old Sacramento.

Fun replica of an 1854 California schoolhouse. They even teach circa 1854 lessons to visiting schools by appointment.

Its a very nice place for children to learn about history. I went here and saw kids having fun and learning at the same time. Its a good place, very well maintained.

Like going back 100 years incredible even smells like books and school. Women dressed in costumes from the era answer questions and have a wealth of knowledge.

Great piece of history. Playground is accessible and some shade to sit down. Schoolhouse has a historian who will answer all your questions.

Great reproduction of an 1849 school house. On the day of our visit our guide gave about a 40 minute lecture on the history of schooling during the time (this was quite boring). I would have rather been able to tour the school house on my own and have read about its history in a brochure or pamphlet. I went with a large group so maybe having 40 people all over this 800 sq. foot room would not be good.
