Amazing owners! Cool small town old cabin feel. And if you want big and fancy they have that too!

I had originally only booked a one night stay but we feel in love with the place so we had to stay another night! It had everything we needed and it was perfect and peaceful. To top it off we out own personal jacuzzi and the beds were very comfortable. Definitely going to plan another stay soon!

The Mountain Air Cabins staff was very accommodating and made our stay great! The Winger Cabin was everything we were looking for in a trip to Ruidoso. We loved our stay in the Upper Canyon. Enjoyed the views from the deck! Comfortable accommodations and awesome location.

Just got back from our stay in the Cubby. It was great! Very clean and quite charming. I was afraid that it would be annoying being so close to other cabins, but it wasnt at all. The hot tub was great, too! The customer service was also excellent -- we felt very well taken care of.

Area was beautiful. Tucked deep into the upper canyon. Little bit of a pain to get back to. Cabin was cute and very affordable. Pricing was honest with no hidden or additional charges. The couple who runs the place were very friendly and helpful. Toilet did not work in my cabin though. Also photos of the facilities were not current. Actual facilities were for lack of better words poorly maintained. However the price for lodging helped make up for it especially since most cabins in the upper canyon are very densely packed together on small lots where these have a little more space between them.

We loved our stay in Moon Shadow 2! Absolutely beautiful views, the cabin was so nice and welcoming, and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely be back. :)

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Worst experience Ive ever had. My wife and I rented a cabin here with a hot tub for our birthdays. Upon arrival the cabin itself literally had duct tape holding up certain parts of it. Aside from the cabin not looking like we expected we were looking forward to enjoying the hot tub under the stars. The hot tub was literally in pieces with the motor taken out and the hot tub drained. We called and asked to be moved or to see what could be done being that we did not get what we paid for at all. Spoke with the office manager who was extremely rude !!! The owner Alyx finally came down and semi apologized and offered a discount and upon being billed we never received any such discount. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Was a pleasure for our family Christmas eve and Christmas stay.The sudden snow fall from the mountains and the rustic atmosphere added to the simple magic of our visit.Did need more fire wood to be available for the cozy fire place.

We were looking forward to having a relaxing evening after a long drive from Santa Fe. Unfortunately, our experience at the cabin was less than desirable.We arrived after sun down and found the property to be dark and the stairs leading to the cabin were slippery and unsafe. The door was very difficult to open and the management wasnt readily available to help. The stated office hours on the voice mail as well as on the office door were 9am-9pm, but when I spoke with the manager, she said it was changed to 7pm. It would have been great if there was an after-hour staff.The cabin had an awful, artificial air freshener/cleaner smell so that we had to leave the windows open all night. There were no amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, etc. For $130/night (including tax and service fees), customers would expect to have basic amenities provided. Also, the bathroom space was uncomfortably small- when I was sitting on the toilet, my knees were in the shower. The refrigerator made a loud noise so we unplugged it while we slept. The shower had a strong mildew smell. In general, the cabin felt like a cheap and dirty trailer rather than a home away from home as the website stated.On a positive note, the bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was good.

We loved our stay at Mountain Air Cabins! The staff was friendly, the cabins were nice and cozy, and the area is beautiful. Our cabin had a wood burning stove which added to the ambiance. We also used the hot tub while we were there. It was a nice stay. We will definitely be back!

The owner was terribly rude. From the first call to the last one. Terrible to deal with. She has no customer service skills what so ever. The phone was breaking up and I asked for the box code cause I thought she was about to hang up and she then popped attitude with me. Tried to put the lock back on to the hot tub since there was a lock code for it but it was broken. We were afraid to be charged for that. Like why give us a code if no one bothers to fix the lock that is broken? do they even go by there properties. Never stay with them.

Great place, very rustic looking and very peaceful. Pet friendly on some cabins, but our two dogs loved it. Deer hang around so sit out on your porch and watch them.run around, be careful cause they will be on the side of the road and wont run.

I had a pretty enjoyable stay here in the Cubby cabin with my wife. So I want to break this down into pros and cons. Pros: The cabins are pretty cozy and come with A/C, a fireplace, a kitchenette, and a hot tub. The bed was huge and comfortable and there was TV with a good selection of channels. Cons: The walkways are very out of shape with splinters, screws, and loose boards everywhere. The grills are ready to collapse, to use the toilet you basically have to put your legs in the shower, and there is very little parking which would be understandable due to location if there werent more cabins than there were parking spots. We got lucky though because we came in the off season and so we had a great time. Its nice and quiet in this location and the views while limited are gorgeous. I would come back here again, but only in the off season.

We had a family vacation and stayed at Moonshadow and Moonshadow 2. I will forever book them! The staff at the office was so amazing, super helpful and nice. The cabins were beautiful and comfortable. I have literally no complaints. I highly recommend booking through them and definitely check 1 or both of those cabins. Cant wait until next year!

We stayed at The Cubby Cabin it was great! We had our own Hot Tub, and the cabin was cozy, the view was great! I have also stayed at Blue Jay, it was cute as well and had a back porch again it had its own hot tub which was great! The owners and good, while staying at the blue jay we got a leak during the night in the roof and reported when we got up in the morning, they seemed very nice, we were leaving that morning and waited for us to leave before going in.

Nicely furnished rustic cabins with fire places, stoves, refrigerators, dishes, very clean and a view of Sierra Blanca. The maintenance team are outstanding. Excellent place for a weekend getaway. The staff are friendly and helpful. By the way the firewood is free. Will return there soon..

Bristle Pine was very cute .. the location was great, stunning mountains and wildlife that came up to our windows ! We rented this one because of the hot tub, we were very let down when we got there and it was a very old hot tub that had an extremely heave lid and only 1 jet worked if any worked at all, very disappointing, this was never brought to our attention from anyone at all before biking this cabin ... definitely would have changed booking if we would have known . And the bathroom/ shower was very very small ! Host was nice, will probably try another cabin next time, but call and ask specific details before deposit is put in .

Alyx and Anita were absolute gems! Everything we needed was taken care of! We loved our cabin and will certainly contact these kind folks on our next visit!!

If check in time is going to be 3:00pm the owners should at least make the wait worth it by having the cabine ACTUALLY CLEAN and comfortable. The cabin is a cozy feel but the pictures posted online were really outdated. There was hair in the tub and also on the toilet seat. The tub would not drain properly and released nasty weird stuff back into the tub, also the pans that were provided were not washed and had food on them. The best part of the cabin was the hottub.

I know they were old cabins, But at least have steardy furniture. Dinning table and chairs were so wobbly. Kitchen cabinets shelves were lose. Dishes could of fallen. Washer was full with dog hair.

The Duncans are wonderful, friendly and accommodating. The location is superb! Prepare for stairs up to cabins. Our cabin had a hot tub and we recommend taking advantage of it at night under the stars!

Went to pick up a truck but the water streams and the peacefulness got me going again.

The cabin are amazing and very cozy and so very quiet. The owners and very nice and friendly. I have honestly found my favorite place to stay when visiting Ruidoso.

Couldnt be happier with our stay in Rock Squirrel. Cabin was clean and well appointed, yet still has the rustic feel we were looking for. Comfortable bed, great patio/porch areas and although I think we were the only ones staying during a midweek visit, very quiet and secluded. Our dog loved it as well and thank you for being so accommodating with our pet requests, although we didnt end up bringing one of them. Great stay and cant wait to come back.

The cabins are perfect. They come equipped with all your basic needs. The river is close by The morning walks are the best. The shopping center is only a 7 min drive down the mountain. The casino is about 15 mins away. Its an incredible experience. You have to make it happen... I love this place. I recommend it to anyone who wants to get away.

When we first called we were told 12:00 was check in time.. Upon arriving He had told us check-in was 3:00, after driving 2.5 hours. We were eventually able to check in at 12:00. We were charged a $35 cleaning fee (which is fine) and then we read the policy inside the cabin stating that if we do not do the dishes we will be charged a $50 fee?! What is the cleaning fee for.. We had a great time in riodoso, but we will be staying elsewhere next time.

Relaxing and beautiful

The cabins are in great condition and very clean compared to others my family has rented in the area. The owners are very pleasant and helpful. The scenery in this area is astounding, I highly recommend mountain air.

We loved the Winger cabin!

Cozy, small cabin. Based on the pictures provided, our expectations were much higher, but overall the cabin grew on us. If your expectations, dont match the pictures I think you will enjoy the cabin. The hot tub isnt in an secluded area at all; consequently, we were unable to use it.

We recently returned home from Ruidoso. We stayed with the Duncans at the Mountain Air Cabins. Our cabin was the Winger. It was beautiful, the scenery outside was beautiful, the rain was nice and the cool temps were awesome. We will stay again in the future. We loved the get away.

My wife and I stayed at Moon Shadow for 5 days. A nice place, that is For Sale which could affect the attention it receives. The pics are a little misleading. There are 25 vertical steps from driveway where your car is located to entrance of the house on the 2nd level. Be prepared to catch your breath while unloading your stuff and carrying them upstairs. The driveway is very steep and a little difficult to maneuver. The house is located on a busy street with a electrical power station located in front of the house. The yard is very steep and difficult to walk on. Inside of house was ok, but the couches were in need of repair and felt a little dirty. Carpet was in need of cleaning as well. Two of the deck chairs were broken and unable to be used. The game room floor was dirty and the felt on the pool table was in need of repair and cleaning. Ping pong table was not assembled. The pics of the game room were misleading. We had ants/spiders in bath tub and around hot tub. The hot tub was the best part of the stay, but the area around tub was dirty. I felt our vacation was fun in Ruidoso, but the house was very disappointing .

We stayed for a couple of days, it was quiet the cabin was very clean and cozy. The office lady was sweet and friendly and came out a few times to chit chat with us and the other people staying. We are definately coming back.

It was a nice drive to get to. Cabin was clean and roomy. They had WiFi there but it was very weak. Makes you go off the grid kinda. I would definitely go back there.

We were researching the Ruidoso area for a vacation rental property to buy. Our realtor, who had prior experience with vacation rentals, recommended Alyx with Mountain Air Cabins to manager our property. Ultimately, we decided against a vacation rental property as we chose another investment opportunity. Nonetheless, I was impressed with Alyx as she provided us with great feedback on a vacation rental property we were considering. She was very helpful, responsive, and passionate. Had we decided to purchase a vacation rental property, we would have gone with Mountain Air Cabins to manage it.

I stayed here for my birthday/Bachelorette party, in the blue jay cabin the owners were very nice and helpful told us for places to eat near by. The cabin was wonderful had a beautiful veiw! After me and my husband got married we booked these cabins for our hunny moon, we rented the cubby cabin, its very nice comes with some necessities, owners are very friendly. Hot tub was very clean during both stays. Very impressed by the property!

I called for information prior to my booking and a man that answered the phone was rude! They need improvement on their customer service! My stay overall was very satisfactory, but the prior owners left big shoes to fill for hospitality and customer service!

Look for another cabin before choosing this one. We stayed here for one night and that was one night too long. The price we were quoted was NOT what we were charged. The outside of the cabin had trash, dirty pots and a board missing from the deck where my son fell in and twisted his ankle. The people who run the cabin have kids who are up at the crack of dawn playing right outside your window and one of the kids was at our cabin being a nuisance and telling my kids they couldnt play with sticks on the ground. When I asked him if he had somewhere to be he said I have no boundaries. This place was not a peaceful, relaxing, enjoyable experience. Way too over priced and the lady in the office was far from pleasant. I can only imagine the people with the good reviews are the owners and their friends.

My husband and I rented a Mountain Air cabin this weekend to get away with our kids for some relaxation and fun. We have rented several cabins over the last few years in ruidoso as well and other locations. I can definately say I would love to use these cabins again. Ours was perfect for our getaway. It was cozy and clean and well maintained and in a great location. And just as importantly, the cabin was priced very affordably and fair. The owner was very friendly and personable. Overall, it was a very pleasant and wrlcoming experience and I will be returning as soon as we can. My only regret is that we couldnt stay a day longer. ;-) I think I will take note of that for our next stay. :-)
