I went with family members to check out the latest movies. They went to see Frozen II, and I went to see Midway. All of us were happy with the movies we saw. Myself, I was glad for the experience. The picture and sound quality was awesome. The seats were very comfortable. I made a pit-stop at the concession stand. The items were quite tasty and filling. I would recommend these theaters to others.

Really cool old school theater showing niche films to a small market. No frills, has a small concession stand, etc. Because its old school and on the older side the chairs were pretty uncomfortable after a while, and I had to keep shifting to keep my butt from falling asleep, but overall the atmosphere was great.

Ive been going to this place for years. The choice of movies is wonderful and the staff is pleasant and inviting, but the theater needs an update. The seats are small, hard and uncomfortable. The popcorn tends to be a little dry and stale at times. Dress in layers because it gets chilly!

A wonderful theatre! I love coming here for the midnight movies-- They show them every Friday and Saturday for seven dollars. The midnight showings are great as theyre not films that are currently in other theaters. The theatre also sells posters for these and they all look real zesty.Their main theatre is beautiful and always clean and comfy. There is free parking, but the lot is quite small. Theres a paid parking garage in the same lot, but if you come at midnight it should be free.

We went to screening of the room and stood out in freezing cold for over two hours only to realize we were in the meet and greet line which was not marked at all so when we finally got to front of line the lobby was completely empty they could have used ropes to snake us around lobby so we werent freezing our butts off, but nope they only decided to do that once people started getting real irate, and the manager never came out he just had his poor worker take all the abuse from the customers. Once I had already waited that long decided mine as well wait for meet and greet and get autograph- which was cool but I dont know it was a nightmare, and it was below zero that night.

Small theatre that was showing a movie I have wanted to see for a month. Open on Thanksgiving evening so it was perfect! They serve hot tea here too! Very nice classic old theatre, nothing fancy here. I love the old theatre feel. Some new theatres are cold and uninviting. This one was small, cozy and relaxed. Great experience!

I went here a few months back to watch a film. The interior is very nice and prices are good. Lots of space inside and things to look at if you get there early. When you go into the theatre itself it is absolutely beautiful and the film and sound quality are fantastic. There was a incident within the theatre (none of which was the theatres fault at all) where a lady was screaming uncontrollably and taking her clothes off. The staff were very quick and professional about removing her. The staff is absolutely amazing and beyond friendly if you need anything. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good experience watching a film!

I absolutely LOVE the Main Art Theatre! They specialize in indie movies that you may not otherwise have the chance to see, but they are most famous for their weekly Midnight Movies. I have made it a tradition to see at least three each year, and they do not disappoint! The constantly rotating set of classics surprises me each and every time, wether it be a horror film, a cult classic, or a musical, they keep me on my toes! One of my favorite movie venues in Michigan!

Returning to The Historic LANDMARK MAIN ART THEATERTo enjoy the nostalgic feeling of the simplistically of purpose. It brings a sence or a feeling of how it was such a treat. To see a movie on the what once was The Big Screen. Back when the ornately decorated theater dressed by carefully placed meeting and eating area.Where one the limitations of drinks and special flicks candies with the foiled majestic colors were the main choice of chocolate. Now surrounded by entertainment steps away.I want to see this theater Live On. Because there are things in our presence we need to preserve!Support Local Landmarks!Movie seats were comfortable!Joaquin Phoenix soul was touching in the most intriguing way you guess what I saw, I dare you!

Amazing! The biggest positive is that they show smaller and more independent movies that bigger theaters dont show. For people like me that enjoy them, this place is a godsend. I also love the old school feel and look of this theater thats situated in a pleasant corner of downtown Royal Oak. The only thing keeping me from rating it 5 stars is the seats of the auditoriums. They are not nearly as spacious or roomy as bigger theaters and dont have head rests, but to be fair, it is a smaller theater and its expected with their level of business. On top of that, you usually forget about the seat youre sitting in after about 10 minutes, since the movies they show are so good they make you forget!

They show independent films at a great price and even offer discounts for veterans, students, and retired folks. The staff is nice and the theaters are large. Awesome theater, whenever youre looking for a movie outside of the realm of your every day blockbusters, this is the theater that plays them. They do midnight showings of classics, and support the artist community locally with art and film exhibitions. Tickets rarely sell out so you can always find a good seat, the staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable of the films that play. This is a classy old school theater you will enjoy.

I’m sure this is a wonderful place to watch movies, as stated by previous reviewers. However, upon arrival after a forty minute drive, there didn’t seem to be any signs of life in the place. Large groups of people waited outside, as the doors were locked. Phone calls to the establishment were unsuccessful. A sign on the box office said “returning at 1:30”, though by that time there was still no sign of anyone. Coming to this theater proved to be a waste of time, which is very unfortunate, as I was excited to experience what other reviewers had.
