Lake Josephine has a super, sandy beach that allows little children have tons of fun. The swimming area is roped off and not too deep. There is a very nice playground. The bathrooms and changing rooms are kept extremely clean. There are numerous charcoal grills and picnic tables. As a plus, there is a Dairy Queen just across the street.

Beautiful little public beach for a quick dip or just to chill out for a little bit. Gorgeous at sunset.

My wife and I canoed it, perfect lake smaller and not that busy. A couple of nice surprises, a bald eagle resting on a log near us as we approached then he flew right near us as he took off! About 10 min later we hear then see a loon. Fun outing and plenty of parking close to the water

On a nice little lake with a beautiful long green space and beach. Makes distancing easy and possible even on busy days. Dairy Queen right across the street!

Its not a beach kind of a park, the strip of sand between the retaining wall and the water is five feet wide at best. But theres plently of grassy gentle slopes, nice big trees and a pretty sweet playground to make up for it. For a peaceful summer afternoon of eating ice cream from the DQ across the road and watching moms wade with their toddlers while the clouds go by, theres no place better.

Nice clean beach. Small sandy area but I actually prefer that here. Great spot for families with small children. No deep drop offs in swimming area.

Great place to launch a paddle board for an afternoon. Accessible boat launch and clean(ish) water compared to some of the other metro lakes.

So pretty and clean! We fished a little and swam a little. The fish were little but were new catch and release fishers so we get excited by hooking a fish.

I really love this lake ... I have gone to others and after a few minutes I end up leaving and returning to Lake Josephine.

The fishing dock is great, but the fishing is very hit and miss. Have caught bass, perch, sunfish, crappie, northern and even walleye here! The parking lot is kind of secluded by the dock and boat launch. Seems like we have been present for several contraband exchanges while fishing. Would be nice if there were more police drive through to keep the riffraff away.

Good boat landing, hardly ever very busy. Relatively quiet lake. Havent had great luck catching fish but its really pleasant for a city lake.

Good until an attentive driver slammed into a icecream truck giving icecream almost hitting those waiting to get icecream. But otherwise icecream and park is good.

Clean lake. There is a small dock for fishing. Plenty of parking spaces for cars and boat trailers by the boat launch. Not a great lake for big fish. There is a beach and a playground. Plenty of space for family gatherings.

I was in ankle deep water playing with my pup and was chastised by a lifeguard for not swimming in the roped off area. Not her fault, but the rules are a tad strong. Otherwise the park is well maintained, a fair amount of parking (unless you have a boat) and the structures are well built.

There are lifeguards on duty here, restrooms, a park and a nice parking lot. A water fountain and vending machine in case you forget your drink and a beautiful lake to swim in!

Small but has a beach, park, and dock for fishing.

We love bringing our 3 yr old here. There is free parking, playground, beach, beach house where they offer free life vests. A huge bonus if its an impromptu visit. There is a lifeguard on duty (however not 24 hrs), boats go by, and kayakers. Bathrooms close by playground. Bonus: Dairy Queen across the street.

GORGEOUS day, sun at the right angle, no humidity, lush greenery, happy people swimming, sunbathing, barbecuing, playing ball, small children running close to their parents. A haven on earth!!!

I checked out the fishing Pier its too small was placed next to the boat launch in shallow water. The pier should have been extended out further.

Its ok, nothing too special. The swimming area is pretty small. Thankfully there arent very many boats on this lake. Its a mellow place.Its kinda small as far as parks go though. The best thing about this park is that they have a nice play area for kids.

Not too busy. Nice to have a playground! Small beach and the ground is a little rocky. A couple decent shade trees were key! Lifeguard on duty was definitely helpful. Small fish swimming around your feet is a little unnerving, but keeps the kids busy!

A pretty quiet little lake, with a nice playground and reasonably clean swimming beach. Not so sandy, and it could use some outdoor shelters. No place to wait out a rainstorm.

The Best place for 0400 in the morning

The beach was clean, the water was warm (considering this is Minnesota) and the on duty lifeguard was attentive. There are also plenty of slides and play equipment, and picnic tables. We had a great time.

Ramsey county beach with staffed lifeguards. The fishing pier is a great place to take the youngsters to catch some sunnies and bluegills. Just make sure that you have a small hook and plenty of worms. Cant get the fish off of one and rebait without having another one on the other kids line. No fish tales here just some excitement for the kids.... catching fish.

Well-kept swimming area and park. The only thing is I wish the swimming area were bigger.

Strong emphasis on safety during the summer life guarding season. Raking of the beach would go a long way to improve ascetics and look/feel.

Love it they should sell snacks for the kids and adults in a vending machine.But live the beach fishing areas and the playground just perfect for the family and kids.

This is a large lake with swimming, fishing, sun bathing, places for picnics and play areas for the children.

We drive from Minneapolis just to go to the beach and park.
