So glad we tried it out. Great day for the whole family. Some hidden fees you can avoid if you plan your day. Bring your own life jackets - required for anyone jumping and all kids under 10 at all times. Bring your own raft or float too. Non acholic drinks can be brought in a cooler. You can bring a pop up tent even. Bag chairs are allowed or y I u can rent lounge chairs. No alcohol or food from outside. They have a full snack shack with good food options. Great margaritas, beer and seltzer drinks available. Bathrooms are port-a-potties 3 cliff jump options (10, 15, 20 ft). 2 large water slides and one small inflatable slide in the water. Nice sand beach.
Had our sons 13th birthday party there today, the first time weve ever been, & it was GREAT!!! Stayed the whole 8 hrs they were open, the boys had an absolute blast & us adults really enjoyed it also! We will definitely go back! Lots of things to do, very friendly staff, great prices on food & drinks (you can also bring your own in, except for alcohol).
Me and my three boys (9y, 2y, 5mo) drove up from Kansas City, MO area to come and experience the updated Fugitive Run Beach in Rolla, MO. This place is great to chill with family and friends. There is something for everyone... Adults are $12 and come with a wristband that lets you come and go as you please for the day. Kids are $10 and 2 years old and younger are free. Cabanas come with a grill you can rent for approx $60. Designated areas require the use of a certified life jacket which you can rent $5 a day. They also have some food selections, a store with things you might have forgotten to bring, and alcoholic beverages too at approx $5 a piece. you are prohibited from bringing any alcohol into the venue and its parking lot. All bags and coolers are checked for things that are not allowed to be brought into the beach. This day our trip was cut short the weather kept spittin on us. Even though the beach is a rain or shine establishment, meaning they wont close due to rain unless there is lightening and/or thunder.I will definitely be coming back... Without the kids lol jk!
If it was actually open im sure it would get the 5 stars but I do love the concept & appeal!!
To the Owners of Fugitive Beach. You should be proud. At every turn your staff was AWESOME! The gate keepers to the ground staff were very professional funny nice just AWESOME. We really enjoyed our time there. As we were leaving I mentioned to one of the staff that a beach to car service would be an enhancement to the experience. One of the staff said they had mentioned it but no go. sometimes the staff who works the front line have good ideas. Once again you have awesome place and staff.
Great family place for fun. We rented a cabana for my daughters birthday and loved how we had a private spot and could grill out right there. We had 6 kids and 4 adults in our group and we all had the best time. The kids loved going off of the cliff jumps and slides. Every one of the staff was polite and very nice. When we left we ran into some car trouble, one wouldnt start. Several of the staff came out to check on us and make sure we didnt need anything. When we came the conclusion that we couldnt fix it the owners let us leave it in the parking lot until we could get someone to come and get it. I highly recommend checking this place out! Awesome staff and owners! We will definitely be making a trip back. We live 4 hours away and it was worth the drive to give the kids a little bit of normalcy and fun! Oh, they also have sand volleyball, human foosball, and corn hole.
I drove extra miles just to visit Fugitive Beach and it was worth it. I had a blast! Yes, it gets crowded because its an awesome place to hang out with family or friends. And no, its not pricey at all...common are we talking about $10 ? I havent seen any dunk teenagers, nor anyone acting weird. I got there early in the morning to get a nice spot and spent all day until they kicked me out :) (cause they needed to close it)
Very friendly staff! Lots of room for kids to swim and play... they also have volleyball, dodgeball and connect four. Bars for the adults!!! Kids under 10 must wear life jackets at all times. Very family friendly and lots of families cooking out and having fun. Only turn off was port a potty, they were very dirty.
Its a fun place to cool off sort of... The water is very warm, the sand is very course, more like ground up rock than beach sand. I would definitely wear water shoes or sandals, two of my kids had blisters and cuts on their feet midway through the day. Still had fun jumping off cliffs and sliding., Just guess I was expecting nicer facility and colder spring fed water, more like dyed pond water.
I think that Fugitive Beach is a very fun place to take kids and just for yourself it was a super fun break from reality! I was surprised when I got there. It was super fun there was some water slides and you can jump off cliffs there and theres some water rock climbing area where you can slide down. Bring life jackets and inner tubes but they do sell them there. You should totally go there.
If Joe Dirt and Joe Exotic got together to open a water park you would have Fugitive Beach!!! Water was clean enough, not clean enough to snorkel in but not terrible. The sams club inflatable slide is not worth the swim out there, all of the other slides are homemade, and the cliff jumping decks look like they are about to fall off the side of the cliff. The word beach implies sand and you will not find any of that at Fugitive Beach, you will only find tiny sharp rocks to walk on. All in all its not a terrible place to spend a Saturday, we drove five hours and expected way more than what we got. We will not do that again.
Not worth the money. $12 per adult (over 13) and then an additional mandatory $5 life jacket fee unless you bring your own. The staff is inattentive at best. A full grown woman was drunk and being belligerent toward one of my children. They attempted to tell the life guard but nothing was done, so I dealt with it myself. That shouldnt be a problem in a family setting.
First time visitor with my family and we got a better experience than we couldve imagined! The water, and property in general, was well maintained enjoyable! 2 sand volleyball courts and bag toss gives you options if you want to take a break from the water. Next time well bring our own life jackets (theirs are $5 to use for the day), and chairs. Love that parkings free and they offer a military discount.
Loved it what a blast, they had a long slip n slide, a big and fast slide, three good jump platforms, and a huge marshmallow floaty that the kids could climb and slide down. They also had picnic tables for rent and pavilions with BBQ grills, was very happy had a blast with the whole family
Cool little beach in the middle of no where. Very nice staff from the moment you enter. Water is dyed but still beautiful. However, I absolutely hate how far they put the inflatable wall climbing and slides. You get very tired by the time you swim there.
Great place to go and have fun. We wanted to rent out the big cabana on the water and was told its only for the owners? Thats kind of weird. Besides that we had a great time.
3rd year in a row my family and I have drove down and well definitely come back! Great, safe environment. Very family friendly (for our 10 & 11 year old). Glad to see they didnt opt to shut down during this pandemic! Well be back next year!
Loved the place. Awesome vibes, all the staff was super nice with us all the time. The water was amazing and we had non stop fun jumping from the cliffs!! I am definitely going back for another great day and to try to climb the floating climb wall!! Lol
My family had a good time here.Clean place. No problems at all with anyone.Had to wear a life jacket in the water but I do understand the safety in that. All in all it was a blast.
This is a very nice place and a good price. Everything was great. BUT..... if you are going to go bring water shoes. That is not sand. More like crushed rocks that will destroy your heels . Foods good and good priced. Whole family had fun
It was alright. Sand, water, sun and food/drinks. Rental of lifejackets is reasonable and 3 different jumps. Kids will love it.
Drove 2 hours, nice place we are here on a Wednesday so it isnt crowed, but its nice, you do need life jackets to do the activities which makes sense and its for safety. U will pay to use it all day. No drinks allowed but can buy drinks. Has tubes for rent and chairs.
Its a pretty laid back place. It definitely pays to get there early. I enjoyed the cliff jumping and concessions were not real high priced. Will be going back
Fugitive Beach was a wonderful experience! We rented cabana #41 to celebrate our sons 13th Birthday. The picnic tables up there were great and we were surprised no one had rented them. It was a great location with a full view of the park. From here we could see adventuresome persons jumping from the 10ft. and 20ft. jumps. The staff were friendly and the rules were reasonable to keep patrons safe. The water was fresh smelling and pretty blue. I wonder what they use to treat and color it
My kids and I had fun and it was very clean. I do love how they have life guards, but several time my kids was almost jumped on because the life guards dont really pay much attention. Especially at the inflatable slide.
Awesome place and spot, overall had an great time, do need to move all the gravel thats near the private areas because if you walk bare foot youre in for a bad time.
Place was amazing kids had tons of fun
It feels like a real beach!!! Warm and clean water, bars near the shore, and good drinks !!
Pleasant experience. Had kids with me from age 10 to 17 and they all enjoyed their selves. All of the adults enjoyed the day as well. I would suggest reserving/renting a cabana before you show up. We were the third group in line and they were all rented out. If you want to dive or go down slides you have to have a life jacket no matter how old you are. They play music there so dont bring your speakers from home they dont allow them in.
Beautiful place, I suggest going on a week day, less people.
Cool little waterpark-type thing. You can rent life jackets for $5 each. They have a changing room. They also have porta potties for bathrooms. There are 3 little platforms that you can jump into the water from; a 10 ft, 15 ft, and 20 ft platform. There is also a small kid slide and a bigger slide. The only annoying part is the amount of sharp rocks that you step on in the water. It really hurts, and you can’t avoid them.
Great place for CHILDREN. Even experienced adult swimmers MUST wear life jackets in the deeper ends where slides and jumps are. They do sell alcohol.
Worst burger since high school. Online prices don’t match in person prices to enter. ($8 online $12 in person) Could use more activities in the water a slide and 3 jump spots gets boring after a hour. But good place for a group event!
This place is BEAUTIFUL! Beach was clean and staff was polite and playful with the kids. Definitely worth the 3 hour drive and cant wait to visit again.
We had a wonderful time. Great place for couples or families. The food wasnt great but the staff was. Definitely will be returning.
Its nice spot to getaway with the family or friends to relax.
Very family friendly, something to do for all ages. Met the owner, who was very nice. They come around and help secure everyones pop up texts to ensure safety. We will be back soon!
What a great place to go with your family. First time there and cant wait to go back
This little hideaway was more than I expected. I HAD AN AWESOME TIME AND WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK.
The whole family had so much fun here!
Awesome place!! Rent the cabana its totally worth it. Been here a few times and the staff is amazing.
Fun place for the whole family. Get there early to avoid the crowds.
Second year going and will go back. Fun time for all ages.
Amazing day. Being your Life Jackets and Floats to save money. The Snow Cones prices were cheap. Snack Bar option was good too.
The slides are fun and the cliff jumps are exhilarating! Had a blast! Even with 4 children and having young ones I felt safe with the lifeguards.
Super clean and great fun for all ages.
Great idea! Love that there is free, ample parking, low key crowd (went on a Wednesday), able to bring in food and drink yet there is options to purchase there, slide was super fun. Wish the beach was sandier as it was impossible to use my umbrella in the hard ground, although I understand its more complicated than that. Also, disappointed that smoking policy was not enforced and people were smoking and leaving cigarette butts on the beach. Will make the drive from STL again.
A really fun place to visit, I drove 2 hours to go and it was definitely worth it. It cost $10 to get in but to go off the waterslide or jump off the bluff you need a life jacket, which they rent for $5. A little sketchy with some of the stuff (see photos) but overall a good experience.
This place was so fun, the kids had a blast. Lots to do!
Amazing! I couldnt have asked for a more awesome place to swim. We were allowed to bring our own food, pop-up canopy, chairs etc. We loved it here and will continue to go back!
Very nice beach great even though it was crowded.
It was fun with a family atmosphere. Clean.
Everything in to my video, absolutely loved that.
Great swimming hole, family friendly and a discount for military, PD and firefighters. Easy to get to from I44 or Hwy 72
It was ok. The life guards where to involved and the place was over crowded for the size of the location however I know that isnt their fault. I think its a little over board that you have to wear a life jacket no matter your age.
This place is definitely somewhere I will be visiting again! Had a blast!
Too busy on the day we went... probly best to go throughout the week.
Not covid safe at all. Though, it is a beach so no one wearing a mask didnt seem too strange to us, we at least expected signs and social distancing efforts in place within separate groups, but nope. Its like covid didnt exist there! Aside from that, the water was nice and seemed clean, and the staff were friendly enough. The buildings were very old, and there were only porter potties, not bathrooms. Also, they charged for everything. Even to just jump the cliffs, you need a life vest, which are an extra 5 dollars. Chairs, 5. Rafts, 5. It never ends! So, the entrance fee is just for swimming. These are things that bother me, but others may not mind!
Great place to enjoy some swimming, sand and sun! But now they require us to wear life jacket to swim and that is very uncomfortable ;(It was the best beach near St Louis until they set up this new rule :(
Get there early! Bring a pop up tent. Fantastic place to go!
Fun and friendly atmosphere, my family had a great time. Staff from entering the gate, life guards, customer service, ground keepers, to owners are very friendly. Beach is kept very clean and we will be returning.
I loved Fugitive Beach it was amazing, oh my I love jumping off the cliff the bar and food was amazing
Fun Place!! Our 2nd annual Family/Friends Trip
Its sand is too course. hard to walk in needs to be more smoking areas and overall nice family place
We picked one of the hottest days to go after some other plans fell through. We got there around 1 and the place was packed. We had never been and I will day it’s super petty. With COVID going on the amount of folks there did concern us a bit but we decided to forge ahead. We found admission for kids/adults was very reasonable - $12 for adults. The Staff were nice and I did appreciate that they checked your bags at the entrance - I assume mostly for alcohol. You can’t bring in your own but they do sell it inside. There’s also a restaurant but it’s your typical overpriced fare. We also noticed that folks weren’t really socially distancing nor did folks wear masks when not in the water. This may or may not be a big deal to some.As far as the downsides I was unimpressed with the changing rooms- they were open air and had shower curtains for privacy. They were also bug infested - ie wasps, bees, spiders etc.I was also not impressed that they did not have actual restroom facilities. They only had portable restrooms and I’d say the lower end ones at that. I say that because you can see everyone’s business when you open the door- not that one chooses to look- but still. Other portable restrooms Ive used have had mechanisms or a cover that at least block the disturbing sight and help with the smell. They were already semi gross and full-ish when we got there at 1pm and with Covid I did not feel just hand sanitizer was appropriate especially when you have a restaurant/bar on site. Also I found the smell from the restrooms to LINGER across the whole place and I found it to be overwhelming in spots. For as much as they charge for chairs, life jackets, admissions etc, I’m sure they could invest in some better portable facilities or even pay to have some built and supplement with portable ones for busier days. Here are my Tips:1. Rent one of the cabanas (approx. $30-40 I believe) otherwise bring your own lawn chairs- they charge $5 to rent chairs. It did appear they have lockers you can rent too but we didn’t use them.2. Also if you want to do any of the fun stuff - ie water slides, cliff jumping, etc bring your own life jackets as they charge $5 per life jacket as well and anyone under 10 has to have one on.Overall I’d go back but I’d definitely stop at a gas station or McDonalds and use the restroom beforehand and make sure everyone was in their swimsuits upon arriving to avoid some of my complaints. Kids will obviously have a blast and I’m sure on a less hot day I’m sure it’s not as bad but for a first time visit it was just okay.
Nice place, but theyll charge you $12 to get in and you still have to pay for lifejacket to use or you cant have fun
We had a lot of fun. It was beautiful but A Lot of people. One thing I thought was awesome was that the owner walked around and he came to our cabana to see how we were doing! Very cool of him to do and we appreciated that. Wish it were a tad bit bigger but it is what it is. There were young teen girls wearing VERY inappropriate clothes with their entire bottom out (like a thong), I have a teenager so this bothered me but I guess its how it is. I will return next year and give it another shot. You should try it regardless of anyones opinion because we are all different!!
I loved it me and my friend went and it was a blast and we’re 17. The lifeguards were very frindly, but I would advised getting there a little early or renting a cabana cause it get packed really fast and we even went on a thursday for less people but still a lot, but overall it was a great experience defiantly would be coming back soon.
All of my boys enjoyed this beach and their ages vary from 2 to 15! Cheap as well!
Not that great if youre over 17 with a large group of people. Me and my friend thought we were going for a fun quarry to swim and tan in which we did, but we paid . Costs $12 an adult and the food is super expensive. The sand was just dirt, it was really small, but the water is fine. If you are not from nearby, not worth the drive. The town of Rolla has nothing but a cute pie shop and a Walmart so if it starts to rain, like it did for us, then youre trapped for the rest of your day in your overpriced hotel room. Thank you and goodnight
We love it, came with all the family and had a Blest.... Only thing we didnt like was the alcohol consumption in the place since there are little kids (Last year) Other than that Well Girls in super tiny bathing suits BUT I think theres nothing that can be done unless they change their dress code. Water is great (a little to heavy to swim) but really cool. *ps* when we went the porta potty were clean and smell good
Our family had a great time and will be going back. Food and drink prices are very reasonable and the kids did not stop for almost four (4) hours.
Fun place.. enjoyed it. Clean!!! I watched them sanitize everything!!!!! Safe!!
Very clean I especially love the activities.
Great little beach. A wee bit crowded, but other wise great experience.
Absolutely love it here 2nd time i been here this month its about 2 hrs away ceim2 my house but well worth the drive and my kids love it my husband loves it wish i knew what dates its exactly open cuz we would come every weekend
Funn in the sun on a hot day. Parking could be handled a little better though. Maybe someone parking cars instead of a free for all or monitoring lots to prevents accidents.
Great staff helped my handicap dad across the beach and gave us a shady area where he wouldnt get too hot. Definitely going back
Fun place to hang out in the water with family or friends.
One of the best hidden gems in Rolla, MO. Friendly staff and very clean. Great place to take the kids when it is hot. They have water slides, a floatable island, and platforms to jump from. Trained life guards and again great staff. Other items fugitive beach has is sand volleyball, human fooseball game, beach chairs, floating devices, life jackets, pavilions with and without grills. No glass or alcohol allowed but they do serve the best alcohol slushees around. Great time for all!
This place was insanely CROWDED. No one was practicing social distancing. Water was gross warm..a freaking cest pool. Last time I went 3 years ago not crowded, water was cool, not warm and everything wasnt roped off in the water. When I went Saturday, deepest water was barely chest deep and it was 110 degrees with heat index outside. We only stayed 2 hours after paying $24 for just me and my husband to get in bc We were worried about Covid19 and everyone being ontop of each other in the water and out. It was just not fun. We drove an hr and 44mins to get here. Total waste of time and over priced.
Saw a whole tampon floating in the water... but over all a good place
Very busy but fair price for everything even food and drink.
Just an amazing place. Always have fun. Try to come at least once every summer now.
For being a buisy place the feel was still pretty kicked back . Would do it again for sure
What a wonderful beautiful day 93*. Took my granddaughters for the 1st time.
Definitely worth the 8 bucks to get in. All day fun!
So much fun. Bring water shoes. Its rocky.
I like it so much there because it clean and the workers are very helpful
Love this place. First time coming and so much to do. Will be back in future!!!
Definitely recommend that you visit, kids and I had a great time and definitely plan on coming back.
Family friendly and affordable
We found this place on Facebook and thought we would give it a try. The Facebook page and website informed me of pretty much everything I needed to know before going. I am a planner and when bringing two small kids I wanted to be prepared and felt confident knowing what I was needing to bring and what I was paying for. I I think it’s awesome we were allowed to bring in our own food and drinks. We always have a hard time finding places that is suitable for my whole family. My 6 year old thinks she’s 16 but everywhere we go she’s always to small to drive things or go down slides ect so this was great that she was allowed to jump off the cliffs! Safety is very important to them and I appreciate that. A couple things I would have liked to have seen would be actual bathrooms and changing rooms not port a potty’s and some sort of path that went around the main part of the beach just because it was extremely hard to pull a cooler or our wagon in the sand. Parking lot kind of sucks. Very rough and no designated parking spots so of course people were parking stupid causing us to walk a lot farther than needed. I know I sounds like I have a lot to complain about but those are just things that would have been nice to see but definitely won’t be a reason for me not to return. We had a great time and plan on coming back soon.
Great place. Would recommend wear water shoes!
Great place to spend the day relaxing, jumping off the cliff, or sliding down the 60 waterslide. A cooler on wheels is definitely recommended. The scenery & blue green water is well worth it. Everyone had a blast, kids to adults. We were there on a Tuesday & glad we went, not crowded at all. Im sure the weekend gets crazy busy! Definitely worth the trip & planning on a return visit!
Grankids had a blast last year in town for memorial day probably not opening due to pandemic what is there plans for restart
