Wonderful trails, really great in the fall, not so great in the summer. Its right off the bay so very buggy. Its multi-use so be careful.

I only walked one trail but it was great...from the parking lot all the way north, and back. Not many birds, but good habitat and good exercise!

If you want a challenging walk/run with lots of hills and natural obstacles or you wanna shred with some steep descents/climbs, drop offs, and some jumps/obstacles this is your place. Its very technical but tons of fun if youve got some technical mountainbiking skills.

Wow!this is a great park. We were visiting family in Rochester, and didnt even know this place existed. There are a lot of rocks, trees and roots, but the trails are very well-maintained. Its a pretty hilly area, with some technical ups and downs. If you like whoops and jumps, this is your place. There are a few sections with whoops. Im pretty new to mountain biking, and this was a challenging ride. There were multiple spots where I had to get off and walk my bike. However, the entire experience was very enjoying. I would defiantly recommend this to any skill level rider, because the features here are very easy to walk around if you dont feel comfortable riding them. All in all this was a amazing trip.

For challenging mountain biking, this is one of the best locations in Rochester. Theres variety in the terrain, but this isnt a great place for beginners. Wear your helmet. Steep ups and downs, roots, rocks and everything else. If the trail has an obstacle at the head, and you cant pass it on your bike, dont go on that trail. There are good flat sections out there too. There are walkers in the park, so be watchful and share the trails. Great views by the bay end. Check the map for details. Plenty of parking. Close to Bay Park West, another great spot.

I spent almost five hours today in this gorgeous place! It was my first visit and I was exploring and taking many (!!!) pictures. The mountain bikers were very courteous and kind. No issues for me. The park had little trash around, which made me happy. When I got there, the parking lot was rather full so I was a bit worried that I’d be unable to enjoy nature in solitude. I didn’t see anyone. It was so peaceful.Make sure you get to the swamp...all the different types of environments, if you can. Trails are well marked, but watch for roots and mud under the leaves. Also, be sure that whatever you are standing on, a rock for example, is sturdy! I made that mistake a few times.Lots of wildlife to enjoy. Creek beds, flowering trees, trails for different skill levels. I could go on and on! Enjoy!

Great bike trails. Definitely not for beginners.

Nice trails. Just head the correct direction of the loop to make the down hills flowy and the uphills easy. Start heading south from the trail head and continue that circle to enjoy the trails for beginner to intermediate riders.

Tryon is a wonderful park for being so nestled in the city. It has aggressive terrain, and feels like youre in the middle of nowhere. The best aspect of that also includes that its a short linewr distance to the edges of the park, so getting lost isnt really possible. It is quiet and clean, flowing water and loads of scenic views. As a multi-use park, youve got to be aware of surroundings re: tight corners and inclines, but most people are there enjoying the park just the same. I give it the 4 stars, as its a double edged sword- wonderful place for those looking for adventurous hiking/riding/etc, but not exactly entry-level stuff. First time on a mountain bike? Depends on your personality .Trying to take a bunch of six year old kids to the park? Nah. Looking to tire out a pooch in the snow with not a soul around? Bingo. Little session to remind you youre out of shape on the bike? Find yourself at the bottom and regret that all ways out are up, hah. But itll make ya stronger. Trail Network markings are there but can be tough to follow, due to terrain. Plenty of fun. Technically based around some sort of drainage pipe system, so lots of interesting hidden old crumbly structure throughout.

Love that this is within walking distance of my house. Great views of the swampy area on the south end of the Bay. Amazingly quiet despite proximity to 590. So grateful for this green space. Just beware of bicycles whizzing by if you are a hiker.

Nice park fir hiking and biking. Drawbacks were the noise of 590 nearby and lots of broken glass on the ground near trail entrances. People with dogs beware!

V
Review №19

Hilly park and great for mountain biking just be careful with the small pieces of broken glass on the red trails, some seemed to be big enough to puncture a tire. Other than that trails were quite alright for steep hiking although a few were blocked off by fallen trees also there are no garbage cans at the parking area. There is a nice view of the swamp land before the bay.

Tryon park is beautiful. A real woodland gem in the middle of the city! Do yourself a favor, get away to the trees and get lost for a while if you have the ability to walk or ride a bike. Ps dont try to ride your bike here if youve never ridden a bike before. The trails are gnarly, but theyll keep you on your toes.

Mountain biking at trying park. Having driven from Syracuse to ride these trails, I was a bit let down. The trails are nice, but just not my style. Most of what I found were tight short runs either up or down. I prefer to have longer sections of up, followed by longer sections of down. This was twisty and turny and never allowed for much speed. Might be good for some, but not for me. Its still some pretty good tough riding though.

If you mountain bike and like to get rowdy, this is the best place in town to do so. GROC and others have continually improved the trails here for decades going from a few hacked together trails to a great trail system worth spending a couple hours riding. You will find fast flowy downs, steep ups, rocks, roots, and airtime.

Unlike west bay trail spandex is not required or seen often, trails are rough in a great way (this is mountain biking..right? Who wants a groomed trail were people act like they own the trails..west bay ). U wont get a lecture from road biker blocking ur trail like west bay. Does have that Rochester raw sewage water that goes into the bay## Minus star for sewage smell

Its loud due to the proximity of 590. And in a poor state, so much erosion and a lack of trail maintenance. There is trash and graffiti all over the place, and a landfill right next to the southern corner. I felt bad about what could have been a beautiful area, it needs some TLC. The northern end isnt so bad, I would stick to that side!

For being a hilly, un-fancy huge wooded acreage on the side of a steep slope, overlooking, when the foliage has fallen fall through spring, the southernmost marshy end of Irondequoit bay, this is a great park right in the city, probably the best within city limits. Its enormous, and of course massively popular for mountain biking, but really great to explore for hikes and walks also. Mostly populated by young groups of bikers, who seem friendly enough.
