Beware of ticket scam! First I tried to buy tickets for a recent event. The dates and times were different from their website! You buy tickets for a show next week, and the tickets are for a show next year when you go to finalize the purchase. Then I bought tickets for an actual event. Easy right? Wrong! I asked if I could change the time, and they refunded me without any information. Lost $3 in fees of course. Tried to buy new tickets, the show isnt available? I emailed them days ago asking for help. No reply. I guess they only care to address their issues with ticket scams and not refundable fees when its in the publics eye. So here you go again. Another 1 star. Incompetence from a bunch of far left. Go figure
Bought tickets when they first went on sale months ago for Jay Mohr. Now the club cancelled my ticket with no explanation and didnt even give me a full refund even though the show is still going on.
Hidden Gem of a venue! I went to a wedding here a couple months ago for a family member and was blown away with how unique and spacious the venue was. I recently helped organize a networking event hosted by the company I work for, I insisted we hold the event at Comedy @ The Carlson, which is where we ended up having the event last night. Mark was so great to work with, he is more than accommodating and genuinely cares about his clients and their happiness. He was there during the entire event to make sure everything went smooth and that everyone was having a great time. Not only did everyone rave about the venue, food, and atmosphere, but other people booked dates with him for future networking events. You will not be disappointed!
My wife and I had a blast here for date night and immediately went online to find future dates we could attend here.
This was my first time @ The Carlson, and it did not disappoint. My husband, and I saw Tim Meadows which was a great show. The venue did not have a bad seat in the house, and was very clean. The staff really made us feel welcome, and they work really hard especially when the lights are off which is not the easiest. We are so fortunate to have this comedy club in Rochester. I highly recommend that you check them out.
Went for a a drag/comedy show! Wow, how fun and entertaining! The artists were on point and beautiful! We enjoyed the hummus plate during the show, everything was fresh and tasty!
Nice comedy club. Prices aren’t bad especially for well-known comedians! The food is surprisingly delicious and the waiters are efficient.
Been a long time since I was at a live comedy show. The venue is beautiful and a great size. Reminds me of Comix Cafe just bigger and better. There was a good crowd for a Thursday evening and the headliner was very entertaining. Kept the crowd engaged. I will definitely be back.
I would give it 5 star for the comedians. The service was completely horrible. I asked 2 waitresses for drinks they told me that we werent their table and they would tell ours. 20-30mins later after the 1st act another waitress walks by so I said something again. She lets me go get her. I said thats what the other waitress said 20 min ago. We finally got our drinks 1/2 way Tim Meadows. Then again right when he ended. The comedians are definitely 5 star service a zero!!
Great. Very clean, attentive staff. Comedians were hilarious. Giant pretzel was yummy, and the cheese tray. Nachos were kind of bland, but overall a really fun outing.
Really nice venue, the wait staff was terrific, courteous and quick. The food was delicious and hide portions. We really loved the mixed drinks. The creativity and names of the was really funny. The happy Gilmore drink was really good. Who knew coconut rum and red bull would be good!?
This is an above average date night. We’ve seen Thea here. We’ve seen April Macie. Both shows were excellent. The servers are quick to your table. The shows are usually not sold out so one can usually be seated in a desired location. The restrooms are well put together and clean. The lobby is roomy. Tickets won’t cost you an arm and a leg.2 tickets, 3 rum and cokes; $45.00 plus tax. Not bad on the wallet for something that leaves you smiling. EYE recommend.
My husband and I went to the Comedy @ The Carlson for the first time tonight. His company was throwing their holiday dinner there with the performance of J.J. Walker. The food provided buffet style was great. And J.J. Walker was a real treat! We had an outstanding time.
Always a fun time here. Great comics along w table service for food and drinks.
Absolutely fantastic! Came to watch a concert by United Artistry. The bands were all great! Good sized venue aswell!
Went here to see the HodgeTwins and had a good time. Drinks and food were available during the whole show which was great. The waiters were very attentive and on point. This is a good place to have a good time.
Of all the comedy clubs that has existed in this city, this one is by far the best. They have a larger room for the bigger names along with a smaller one for the others. The main area is a bar as well if you just wanted to hang out. The staff was wonderful and owner is one of the best people Ive ever met. Food and drink prices were reasonable as well.
Awesome place! Very clean. Staff was very quick and friendly. Appetizers were great. Saw Kevin Farley and he was hilarious. Great time.
A cool place to enjoy really iconic comedy figures performing standup. We ordered VIP meet and greet tickets and this allowed for a really good view of the venue although the meet and greet session itself was very rushed as there were about 50 people meeting the comedian. Will go again had a great time.
We keep going back, so that says it all! Cool shows, great service. Only negative is the parking sometimes for the second bigger shows of the night.
Love the shows here a good environment always have a great time highly recommended
This is a great place for date night. Of course in terms of the show, we went to see Preach Lawson. Both of the Lawson Brothers are hilarious. They were not foul or disgusting, and their jokes are great for adults. I like that Preacher does not entertain hecklers, especially the one inbred heifer that thought it was funny to ask him about the size of his privates. They both interacted with the audience and were nice enough to take pictures with fans. The food is a tad boring and expensive, but their beer is reasonably priced for the size. The staff are nice and accommodating. We definitely love that it is not located in the city, so we were not worried about going to a show in the evening. The parking there is convenient, but is filled very quickly.
Awesome comedy club. They have a great schedule every year and the comedians never disappoint. I like how they’re strict with cell phone use and heckling during shows and have been enforcing it a lot recently. It really makes shows that much better. The seating is first come first serve so make sure to get there early for seats up front for a popular comedian. My only dislike is the pizza... it’s actually a small flatbread and is very overpriced. Make sure to eat before attending a show because the menu will not fill you up. It’s more geared towards snacking. Other than the deceptive pizza, it’s a great place!
Nice venue. Roomy inside and nicely layed out. Drinks were a bit pricy and 9 dollar pretzel seems a bit steep but since the admission price was so reasonable it made up for it . We saw Jimmie Walker on a Thursday and liked the show and will definelty be back and recommend this place
Comedy @ The Carlson is Rochesters most needed addition. The comfy, clean, and nicely placed club is absolutely an assett to the area. This club hosts all the main stars. Up until this, the only way to see comedy was to drive to Webster. It made it inaccessible to most of the college age group in the area, and was not on a major bus route. This club is in a great location, the inside is clean, tables are clean, chairs are unripped, comfortable, and the food is pretty good! Their prices are also pretty good for a comedy club. The space they have is very versatile so it can suit any size audience. The servers were all attentive, they were professional, fun, and really outgoing. It was a pleasant surprise and really shows that the owners here are extremely serious about their club and take great pride in the experience from ticket purchased online, nice ticket stubs that are signable by your favorite stars, and an overall feeling of class.I have found my favorite home for comedy in Rochester!!! Thank you so much as you were a much needed addition to the area :)PS best flat bread cheese pizza I have ever had in my life at any club or bar!
Had a wonderful time. Amazing staff. Incredible venue. Great place to host parties.
Always a great time at the Carlson!! Great laughs, great service, and wonderful atmosphere!
Comedys great! Spacious, clean, neat room. Convenient parking.
I love this comedy club! They bring in great people for shows, the room is well organized, decent menu for food, large bar & selection, clean restrooms. Only issue is if you order water during the show they charge you $3 for a small figi water bottle, water should be free, if you are done drinking mixed drinks.
Great venue spot. Had plates during the platapalooza event
It was a very good show.
Without a doubt worst comedians Ive EVER seen. It was a memorable experience just because of that. Offensive, but with absolutely with no sense of humor at all. Lazy, with zero prepared material. Amazing!
Great comics great service great time
Great time both times Ive been so Ill definitely be going back!
I have attended a couple great events however there seems to be some price gauging when it comes to drink prices (significant). Pay attention and clarify. On each occasion prices for beverages were not consistent at the at the bar then table, as well as just at the table. Other than that, we love it there and will be back.
Went to see Preacher Lawson. The show was great! All of the seats have a good view of the stage. Ordered the pretzel and it was fantastic, but maybe a little pricey. Waitresses were friendly.
The best comedy venue in ROC. Large enough to pull big names, yet small enough so you can actually see them.
Clean nice atmosphere staff was very friendlyand polite
It was packed! And still was a great experience food and stand up! Would go again!
Comedy at the Carlson is a venue offering a variety of Comedy, Improv and music in Rochester. Upon entering the establishment I was immediately impressed with the open feeling and the Beautiful oil paintings representing all manner of famous comedians in a Wonderful Whimsical Style. The bartenders and staff were very friendly and getting settled in was easy. The comedy event started almost right on time which is something you dont see much. The night was fun, and the service was great. The Waitresses that provided table-service were friendly and funny as well as courteous and prompt. The clientele seemed pretty upper class and I would say more towards middle-aged than Young. All in all a fun venue that offers experiencing a variety of Arts in Rochester. The menu offers some basic bar foods which can satisfy most pallets. I highly recommend visiting comedy at the Carlson.
Paid for two tickets to see Jimmy Shubert. How do I see show?
They book A-list comedians, the staff are friendly for the most part. My only complaints: one of the staff members chimed in with the headliner during meet and greet when she was ripping into my fiancee - he was apologizing for saying Nailed it!, the show shes known for, after she was saying she is the host of a Netflix show. She said it threw off the timing of the show, something about 20 minutes of stuff we didnt hear (but thats a her thing, she was asking the audience what they wanted to talk about for the last bit of the show) - the staff member chiming in with dont do it again, its rude, you ruin it for other people really made both of us feel embarrassed. The show could have gone on as she planned if my fiancees utterance was ignored, but her choice to make a scene out of it was then blamed on him which felt very unfair, especially since he was *apologizing* for saying it. Then when he and I finished our meet and greet, we stood waiting for the other members in our group to finish their meet and greet, and the security guy wasnt having it. We even said were waiting for them, they were on stage, and he made us feel rushed and unwelcome as he shooed us to the entrance. Three stars, ONLY because I want to believe this is a one-time flop and doesnt represent the Carlsons norm. I hope if we come back, we wont have as poor a time as our first and only visit thus far.Edited post-reply: he was neither the first nor the last to call out Nailed It. Blaming us for Nicoles choice to end the show early is incredibly hurtful - there are things you can do as a comedian to keep the show rolling, the simplest being ignoring it. Getting aggressive in your reply towards one heckler who was trying to apologize for it when there were 3+ others who didnt get booted, didnt apologize, etc. seals it, we will not be returning. We wont be back, your public relations person escalated tensions, and stars have been updated accordingly.
Nice place. Great show with Joe Bruno!
Smaller than I was expecting but it has a great intimate feel. Specific seats are not reserved, so definitely arrive early even if youve already purchased tickets online. Food was a little on the expensive side but some plates are big enough to share in order to make it more economical. I recommend the taco salad!
This place is a gem of Rochester. The food and drinks were great. The comics gave me a wonderful night of laughter.
Such a fun time!!!
The Story Tellers love stories were wonderful. However, I was warned about the drink service. My daughter told me she and her husband had been charged outrageous drink prices at a previous show. I therefor asked our server what the wine prices were, and was told $6/$6.50. The bill for 4 glasses of chardonnay came to $52.00. I refused to pay that amount, and the bill was then reduced by half. There must be a reason that wine is not listed on the beverage menu. Buyer Beware!
Great show, great ticket prices, great seats-first come first seat so get there early. We were there an hour before show time and still sat like 3 rows of tables back. Had nacho platter and as far as nacho and cheese with jalapenos all over goes and tiny cup of salsa, sour creme and quacamole for $12 it was a disappointment. Drinks were of normal range, no free refills and tap water unless you go get it yourself.
This place is great. Perfect for a date or with a group of friends. Ive been twice so far and enjoyed it both times. Will definitely be going again.
Really nice venue for stand up. We sat right in front of Harland Williams and laughed from start to finish.
Had a great time at the Carlson! The seating, food and drinks were very good. If you want to see comedy outside of a big arena, The Carlson is it for fun.
This is a great place to go for a date night, or for a relaxing night out with friends. The waiters here are super quick and friendly, and the service was great. They always have a good act or two on the roster, too!
The comedian was awesome, but all the staff was super grumpy, and short. Come on guys, its a comedy club. Lighten up a bit! The drinks were good and seating was not too tight so that was great. Price is right for what you get. We will be going back to check out some other comedians so hopefully everyone has cheered up by then. Super parking out front and easy to get to as well.
GREAT PLACE....GREAT SERVICE....BIKER FRIENDLY....81 TIL THE FING WHEELS FALL OFF !
Great venue I had never heard of before. If I had I would have been there multiple times. Staff did a great job and the three comedians were awesome. I havent laughed that hard in a long time. Samuel Comroe had me in tears laughing so hard. Try to get here early for better seating ( at least 45 minutes if you want to sit closer to the front). They had a good cocktail selection and the food was good as well. I will definitely be back.
They are the best place in Rochester for stand up comedy. I have heard from multiple comics as well that they treat the comedians very well also.
Always an awesome time when Bobby Slayton comes to town.
The place has typical bar food. They do have servers walking around during the show to get you drinks and food. The servers dont interrupt the show for you when they are moving around the room. Great place to catch a comedy show.
What a nice, clean establishment. Friendly staff, food is very good & reasonable. Entertainment was very funny & I appreciated that the comics were not only funny but clean. No vulgarity. I would definitely go back.
Get there early for the best seating. Theres no rake to the audience seating so being in the back equals poor sight-lines. Sound quality is good. There was a feedback glitch that may have been performer based. The pretzels are good but the artisan pizza looks skimpy and premade/frozen. My double-tall bourbon and Coke was a true double and tasty. And the wait staff are fast, pleasant, know the room and are unobtrusive.
This the new heart of the comedy scene in Rochester! So proud to have this place in town! Shows are are always conveniently prices and the performers really seem to enjoy the stage. Im a big fan! Keep up the great work!
The atmosphere is nice, service was on par with response.
Had a caesar salad which was delicious. Drinks were inexpensive.
First time there. Great venue, staff was very friendly and Mark Normand was funny. Cant wait to go again.
Clean, great service, amazing atmosphere. Had a fantastic time.
Had a great time will do it again soon
Ive been there 3 times and had a great time every time. And its affordable.
The show was great but the food served was overpriced and under portioned.
Awesome place, great club! Cool servers, dope place-HIGHLY recommend this #Party
Funny guy - John Dicrosta
THE SHOWS HAVE BEEN AWESOME!!! ESPECIALLY; VICKI BARBOLAK & OTHERS AS WELL!!! WOULD BE NICE IF BASIC DRINK ORDERS, LIKE SODA-POPS WERE ON POINT AS MUCH AS THE BAR DRINKS.
Really great venue. Seating is well thought out, not squished, and friendly staff. Would recommend.
Love the facility, friendly staff... Always a great time to be had...
Saw Brian Williams. Super funny. Big place with some great openers. Pool table and dartboard. Drinks were fairly priced, and the staff was attentive. Will return.
Great place for comedy. We saw Marianne Sierk and John *Young Man* woop woop
Add wings to the menu then it would be five stars.
Great place, service was excellent, so were the laughs!
Great place to see Comedy and excellent staff.
Marlon Wayons was great! Need to serve chicken wings there!
Mike Dambra is the funniest local comedian. Ever. Great set tonight. The entire thing was improve!
Great to see a real comedy venue in the city again! They have a decent food menu and nice bar. Pricing was a little steep, but not worth complaining about. Service is fast abd the staff is really friendly. We went to see the funniest comedian in Rochester competition. All the contestants were hilarious. Im looking forward to going for some of the great upcoming events.
Great for comedy shows any public events!
Great venue with funny comedians!
Its a pretty decent comedy club for Rochester. Been here a few times and they get some solid acts and some hacks. A little on the pricey side as far as food goes. Drinks are ok. $6 Wells and tall domestic drafts.
First time there - not a bad seat in the house. Food and drinks are good and service is great. Highly recommend.
Comedy show tonight was fantastic!!! I am visiting from Florida and I am impressed by the Comedy Club... the acts were funny, they had a well stocked bar and it is definitely a place I will go back again when in Rochester, NY... the headliner Jimmy Schubert was well worth it. Looking forward to another visit to the club
Loved it! Will definitely recommend this place!
The venue was great for a comedy club and the comedian was great Michael Kosta. Had a wonderful time
The Carlson is a fantastic place to loosen up when you need a good laugh. It has plenty of well spaced seating and is well kept overall. The food menu is a bit small but everything I have had there is very good. Hopefully this club will stay around for years to come and keep bringing quality acts to Rochester.
