Alien Aquatics

We are new to aquariums, and we came in to learn and get an idea of where to start. Our first encounter was with a gentleman his name was Anthony. We told him we were beginners and wanted to learn more, he stopped what he was doing to help. We learned so much from him. He was super knowledgeable, nice, and overall just great. We will never go anywhere else but here for our aquarium needs.

Awesome place to stock up on all of your coral and reef supplies

I have been buying from Brian and Tony since they moved to their new location on 220. They have a vast knowledge of fish, aquariums and supplies. If you need something and they dont have it in stock they will get it if possible. Im looking to do away with my fresh water tank and go saltwater, I trust them to make that transition possible without robbing me blind......LOL! They are great guys!Ken Taylor

Just started my small 10-gallon freshwater tank that I bought from someone online who was moving. went in for a few more fish and ended up with a wealth of knowledge that will help me have healthier fish. There is still a lot to learn so I cant wait to go back. Thank you to Anthony for your patience and knowledge!

Always friendly and helpful. The livestock selection is unusual and beautiful

I am a beginner freshwater tank owner and these guys have helped me tremendously to get my tank running! I was previously working with a big box store to set up my tank, where they lacked the experience and expertise to figure out my tank issues. After four fish deaths with no clear reason why, I almost gave up. I stopped by alien aquatics on a limb after passing them while driving and they were able to detect water issues that the other store didnt. After hard work and numerous visits to alien aquatics, I was able to add three new guppies to my tank (which are locally bred!). Today, my tank is crystal clear, balanced, with happy fish! This is where I will exclusively be getting all my fish essentials!

Amazing store! Definitely recommend! The owner and his father are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The tanks are the cleanest I’ve ever seen, the fish are all healthy and lively. Not a single dead fish in any of the tanks either. The store carries quality aquarium accessories as well, including food and tech. I highly recommend.

Doesnt even deserve one star! Bought a fish for my husband from alien aquatics, and it lived for 1 day! My husband called and told them, and they gave him the run around and said they would call him back, and never did. My husband called 4 times and got the same run around. We even kept the fish to show them. We also bought a fish from ultimate aquariums the same day and it is thriving and doing well! We also have 2 21 yr old fish in the tank that are doing well! Very disappointed in how the whole situation was handled, and wont be returning. Never encountered a place that doesnt try to make things right after that little bit of time. We will continue to do business with the other local places and wont refer business there.

Great people. Great knowledge. Great stock and variety

Theyve been so nice. We came in and they were having problems with their system but they still took their time to help us find what we needed. They were very polite and enthusiastic which made us feel very comfortable trusting them.

I absolutely love going in to the store. The guys are some of the nicest down to earth people you’ll ever meet. I could stay in there for hours and talk aquariums and fish keeping. I’ll always make the hour drive to Alien Aquatics before I even think about going anywhere else. Great selection of corals and awesome marine and freshwater inhabitants selection.

Clean and very friendly. Extremely knowledgeable about everything aquatic. Must visit!!

Excellent experience every time! From our 1st time stopping in to inquire about establishing a new saltwater tank as a gift for our 7 year old, to the full establishment of a thriving 40G tank has been amazing! The knowledge, passion, and dedication to ensuring we were informed and prepared for not just a one time set up, but ongoing personal connection to ensure our tank was successful and what we wanted. It has dry rock (now live), sand, all the necessary equipment, 2 Mocha Clown Fish, Coral - Bubble, Duncan, Spiderman mushrooms, BlastMussa), and soon to add Purple Firefish, Blue spotted watchman Goby, Shrimp and Sand-sifting Starfish. We are extermely happy customers that already feel like family. Kudos to Brian and his Dad for always providing the BEST service and product! You have a very happy little boy with a very special tank! Thank you!

A fantastic local fish store! Its clear they have the knowledge base and expertise to help you at all stages of your freshwater/saltwater tank. Not just interested in quick sales- fair prices and fantastic selection! Very impressed we have such a great saltwater store in the Roanoke area!

Brian and Tony are always exceptional. We have followed Brian for years because of his experience and willingness to go the extra mile for your tank. His knowledge is something you wont find every where and we always trust his and Tonys advice.

The owners father helped us start from scratch and not only sold us a tank, stand, rock, sand, and all of the equipment to get us going with a nice 65 gallon salt water fish tank system but also educated us on the do’s and do nots. He never once asked us to purchase anything, made everything our choice and was just overall a great place! He offered free delivery of everything including premixed water for the tank! I couldn’t recommend this place more! We left with new education and smiling about our purchase! Wish I could give 10 stars because this place would get it! Honest, Excellent people to deal with!

This is a local store with local people. They have a wide variety of fish in the store but can help you with whatever your aquatic adventure is. I am so excited to be close to them so that they can continue to help me with all of my aquatic needs. If you havent been in here you need to go!

I have been looking for dwarf chain loaches for months and being told by other stores that they couldnt get them. Ailen got them within 3 days, healthy and happy. Im thrilled.

Super helpful awesome people! They have everything you need for fish These people are into the hobby and it shows in how they treat the fish. Definitely check them out!

This place is awesome! Knowledgeable and friendly. All my questions were answerered. This is definitely my new go to aquatic store.

Super friendly and knowledgable staff! Great selection of plants, corals and fish as well as everything you need to maintain your aquariums. Also all fish are quarantined before put up for sale!

I’ve been in this store several times since they started and have been thoroughly impressed by every experience. Of all the aquatics stores in Roanoke and Lynchburg that I’ve frequented these guys take the prize for having the absolute cleanest tanks, plants, and fish. Everything has been immaculate every time I’ve been in to a frankly impressive degree. They follow a rigorous quarantine policy for all incoming specimens and it shows. This is a relatively small shop but I’ve been amazed by the amount of variety they demonstrate in being able to provide all categories of aquatic friends including some things you just can’t find elsewhere despite their limited space. This extends to their live plants and aquascaping materials. They provide a great variety of live plant cultures for carpeting, some of which I’ve never seen elsewhere, as well as clean tank grown aquatic plants of many varieties. The proprietors have been hugely helpful each time and will sell you exactly what you what you want and take their time talking you through the details. They demonstrate a commanding knowledge of their business and provide a pleasant, interactive, and informative experience every time. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

Amazing customer service and very knowledgeable owners. All fish are quarantined before being sold. Both fresh and salt water available.

UPDATE* 10/11/2019.New space is even better than you could believe. Expansive coral and fish selection, with tons of extras. HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking here or seeking advice from Brian or Scott.Coral specialists! Dont bother visiting a pet store for saltwater needs, Alien Aquatics offer a wealth of knowledge and expertice specifically in coral and saltwater. Prices are beyond fair, avoid the chain store markup and corporate training... look nowhere else.

Great shop!! So very knowledgeable and helpful.

Staff has great knowledge about fresh and salt water fish for your type of aquarium setup.

Best LFS around !! These guys know what they are doing and offer wonderful advice.

Came in here today and was amazed with 1st of all... how clean the tanks are! i’ve traveled all across the usa and we always stop at exotic pet stores on the way and this one is the best i’ve seen. it’s small but the care and enthusiasm for animals is there and clearly these guys know what they’re doing! Also the selection of not only salt but FRESHWATER fish is what made me really excited.

Great place for your aquatic needs, very knowledgeable and friendly. Recommendations given was on point

When I say I love this place is an understatement...I have purchased 99% of the things in my tank from these guys...I dont have to worry about anything dying or not being healthy...beautiful fish and coral...variety..and if they dont have it they can get it...also anytime I have needed something ordered it always comes quick...I have a beautiful 150g tank and to many pieces of coral to count...I have had many late nights messing with my tank and it has never been an issue to give Brian a call and get step by step directions of what I need to do even with something as simple as how to use my test kits...highly recommended for any of your fish or coral needs...they have saltwater and freshwater as well
