The place is filled with nature and theres a lot to see. If you plan for a picnic you can do it at a shade or under the sun. Its a nice family place to go and possible to take a walk for hours. Go mushroom picking it to the mansion/museum. Take a hike up the mountain road or celebrate your childs birthday. A great place to be with nice sceneries. See uploaded pictures.

Our first visit to this park, and no disappointment. Beautiful grounds and lots of different sections to explore at the Botanical garden by the Manor, trails are nice. I imagine its really beautiful in spring when everything blooms.

The trails can entrances can be a little confusing. However, this is a very nice park with a mix of everything - from forest hiking, to camping, to picnics, to just a casual stroll with your dog or sitting on a bench with a friend. The buildings are interesting to look at, and they do a great job of mowing the wide lawns. On the western side of the park, Ringwood Manor, the Ringwood Mill Pond is really beautiful. We parked near Ringwood Manor. We got a map, asked the staff how to access the Red Trail for the eastern hiking trails (Cupsaw Mountain, Shepherd Lake, Governor Mountain) but after trying to find the start of the trail, we gave up because it seems like you have to exit the park and walk north and then cross Sloatsburg Rd. There werent any signs either. That would be my main complaint - lack of clear signage. We decided to head back into the park, near the manor, for the white trail. After seeing a sign saying White Trail, we walked forward on the road, thinking that it was ahead. However, this led to camping sites. We went back to the sign, and realized that there was a small trailhead marking on a tree that said to turn left. The sign itself had a trailhead start marking, but could also easily mistaken for go forward. Leaves had covered the trail so it wasnt very evident either. The white trail definitely needed maintenance -- lots of trees trunks blocked the way. There were many confusing forks in the trail, where the trail itself is supposed to be straightforward and one path. Just keep on checking for trailhead markers; they did a great job of having frequent markers, but the markers were white and not super visible. Once you get to the Blue Trail, though, the path widens. Just still be wary of the trail blazes/markers. Theres also a stream that runs through the Blue trail so just be careful.Sallys Pond is nice, too. Ringwood Manor area also has bathrooms; thats a plus. This review is getting long, but overall a good place for a weekend out.

Nice area but the park is in some serious need of repairs! Several closed buildings one with weeds growing out of it and blocking the entrance which what appears to be a restroom. A wooden bridge that went over the creek was closed due to needed repairs. The park was probably pretty nice many years ago after it first opened.

This is one of most beautiful and amazing park I have ever visited in USA. It has this charming quietness that takes your solicitudes off your mind. I was actually surprised that it would be this comfortable. It has a museum too but unfortunately I didn’t have the chance to go inside for some reason that I can’t remember. But definitely i will go back there and I will visit the museum. Honestly, I’d need more than one visit to go almost over all the accessible places in the park. It’s very vast. I’d for sure recommend that park for families or groups, there is a barbecue spots and tables and everything to have a nice picnic and also to smoke some hookah

I didnt take the guided tour of the grounds but they do have them. Huge grounds plenty of space to walk. At times there is a fee to park

Ringwood State Park is home to beautiful landscape and an excellent (local) escape from the usual hustle and bustle. Meander through trails surrounding the periphery of a manicured, family-friendly Park. When I went during the winter there really weren’t too many folks out, which was very nice. I’m sure the atmosphere in the this park beautifully emphasizes whatever season you may visit. Definitely a place you should visit if you’re within an hour or two drive - it’s worth going

Went hiking there on Tuesday. Hiked a portion of the Halifax trail to the service road where a woman had her two dogs without leashes on. Hiked most of the Ringwood Ramapo trail and then went to park by Shepherd Lake. The attendant there charged for parking when the parks automated telephone system clearly stated that parking fees were not being collected at this time. The went to hike the Cooper Union Trail and had black bear encounter, just prior to the loop around. Could not finish the hike as something had gone into my eye and I did not want to risk another possible bear encounter with just one good eye. I would have gave the park more stars had it not been for that lady with her dogs off the leash and the attendant robbing me of five dollars, but she did give me a map which was helpful.

Lovely views, a gorgeous mansion in the middle, nice open spaces. Its so odd that they dont fill the fountains until June.. makes no sense to me, it would look so much nicer. Friends were considering the location for their wedding but ended up picking another venue - we will definitely be back though to take a walk sometime. Traffic flow isnt the best - need to be careful not to smack into pedestrians at the park since there arent any sidewalks along the road through.

My family has been visiting for years. This park is perfect for picnics, weddings, hyper six year old, all ages. The flowers are beautiful in all seasons, but especially Spring and Summer. Be sure to stop there in May for the fragrant lilac grove, there are many mature lilac trees, some over a century old. The Tudor style house needs so upkeep last time I was here, but it’s great to look at and imagine living there. There’s a special magic to the grounds of this spot.
