This humble neighborhood, where most residents refer to their homes not housing, protects the natural environment & provides a home to the vulnerable. You wont see gables & fountains, grass seed & herbicides, crepe myrtles or other wasteful non native plants. Kids ride their bikes to the corner store & retired grandparents walk at sunset for a healthier evening. Tulips, daffodils & Tigerlillies would make a great neighborhood entry garden. The city gets the funds granted for upkeep of these apartment homes. Why dont they affect repairs? Privatizing public land sets a dangerous precedent for The People everywhere. We The People do not need MORE excess in feeding stops every block, clothes & shiny baubles to spend money on as far as the eyes can see, buildings hulking the sky & trapping bad air & heat. A loss of hope & fear leads to aggression & violence. Humble public housing in Richmond is now squeezing out folks financially strapped. The sale of public land undervalued & then sold to pre-determined development stakeholders is theft from The People.
