This is how you operate during a pandemic! Just attended The Picture of Dorian Gray, and this was my best use of a Tuesday afternoon. Billy Maupin is a talented performer; I thoroughly enjoyed his versatility on stage. Limited seating and all the extra precautions, made it a very safe experience. I ordered my ticket and drinks in advance, so there was no social contact. My drinks were ready before the show and during intermission, and the communication e-mail sent prior to the date outlined what to expect upon arrival, only added to an exceptional afternoon. Please support this theatre, they are doing extraordinary things during these difficult times.
Saw the production of Preludes by Dave Malloy, my favorite composer. The cast was simply amazing and the theatre itself was very, very nice. It was much smaller than I expected, but it was comfy and had a very nice setup. If I lived closer, I would be seeing many more shows there. Ushers and everyone working there were very kind and helpful and made the experience even more enjoyable. An excellent, intimate setting for a production.
The people who work here are super nice and it was a cute location. unfortunately the show we saw was pretty bad, from the script to the acting (Animal Control). That isnt the theaters fault, though. I also know I called Firehouse Theatre, not the other theatre, and I still think someone needs to answer the phone. In conclusion, cute venue but bad performance.
Great small theater, I have enjoyed every performance here.
Awesome idea of how to keep this beautiful building relevant.
Loved the VCU Orchestra Event. Soloist was amazing.
Made our Christmas the best ever.
Great small theatre specializing in the production and stewardship of new works.
No one rated it one star hes nice and deserves his business to continue
Very fine fun. Clever original material, delivered in a warm and friendly space. Try it yourself and see!
Independent acts venue. Eat before go. Adequate for small group. Traditional downtown limited street parking. Will have to go see a play. Went for comedy for first time attending venue. No snacks.
It was very well run. After the play, they even served chilli and gave us a drink. I dont know if they do that all the time. I was impressed, I will go again.
Intimate setting, thought-provoking subjects, actors & production folk who care about the craft. Def recommend!!
One of the lesser known gems of Richmond
Easy access on West Broad & largely easy parking for productions. Allow an extra 8 minutes in travel time for comfortable free parking. The building is a good choice local theater, provides local ales for purchase at intermission & allows for creative dramatic arts. $20 tickets support the artistic team & building. Try it once with a favorite show & youll know by experience.
Old firehouse converted into a small theater. They server drinks, but because of the setup they come in cans and bottles. As a result the drink selection is limited. Good amount of setting for such a tiny space. Bathrooms are upstairs. I think theres a porta potty outside for the disabled.
It was my first time here, the setting was very good. I would return for the right show.
Great show tonight by the Radio Players!
Great community theatre spot to see unique and enterprising works!!
Great venue for music and theater. Small, intimate, and friendly. Support local theater and visit this place.
I love this performance venue.
Quaint theatre perfect for a more intimate setting. Offers standup, music and other types of shows. Has a good selection of snacks and drinks to add to the experience
The Firehouse Theatre is cozy and has amazing local performances.
I love Firehouse Theatre and plan to renew my annual membership indefinitely! I go to most every show! Highly recommended!
Saw To Damascus. Great show. It was the last night it was playing. Saw Desire under the Elms in October. Another great performance. This is a delightful venue for theatre in RVA.
I have been in Richmond for 5 years now and my two favorite productions that I have attended were both at the Firehouse Theatre. The first was the Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity and their newest production The Boatwright. I like that the producers never shy away from a piece that will challenge or perhaps alienate their audience. This historic theatre brings fresh stories, sounds and sights to its patrons every single time.
The Firehouse Theatre Project always has something going on thats exciting or challenging or just plain fun! Lots of solid theatrical productions and many nights of fringe style showcases.
I’m really enjoying getting to know Firehouse Theatre! Quietly, Richmond has been blessed with a very active arts and theatre community!! I love this place!
Great performance and photo voice exhibit, Daily Planet, the evening was wonderful. I recommend, Songs from Bedlam.
Small but Very nice. It would be even better if they served good and drinks.
Awesome venue.
If you are looking for a variety of theater experiences, then Firehouse is the place for you! Poetry, writing, music, opera, magic, burlesque, radio plays, traditional plays, and experimental theater! New entertainment weekly! Theres also a snack bar with your favorite beverages. The only disadvantage is an upstairs restroom.
Dance Festival: Pas De Monkey Dance -Ohio was incredible
Ive been to several performances at Firehouse (American Idiot, Maple & Vine) and plan to go to The Boatwright. Great cozy environment with small bar and the historic building adds a tone of charm. The productions are very well done and the Theatre offers a lot of variety. Cant beat the quality work you can see for the price.
Love the history.... very unique!
Amazing jazz musicians and great brownies
Nice facilities for small theater. Staff very friendly and pleasant to interact with
Cool venue, they serve alcohol too which is great
Interesting mix of traditional plays and musicals with the Fringe series - burlesque, magic, radio plays. Something for everyone. The director is really trying to make a rounded experience for all.
Saw Yes! Dance festival- very good!
In addition to a few main stage productions each year, the Firehouse offers hyperactive programming with something for everybody. Cabarets, comedy, poetry, magic, all kinds of music - check the website for whats new. The theatre is intimate and all the seats are good.
If you love theater, this is a great place to go. Theres not a bad seat in the place and the shows are always entertaining.
Cool venue...all seats are good...Preludes was an excellent production.
Fearless performances!
Cozy seating & atmosphere Theyve got a bar area and the service is prompt .
Nice and cozy!
I enjoyed the play Oedipus
Thus is a wonderful place, have been there a couple of times to see a play and everyone is so talented
Great place to take in a show!!
Good shows, good people, good snacks, comfy seats.
I like that this space retains a classic visage but is actually comfortable when attending events.
Potential for great theatre, run by a joke. Seating is a mess and when a man throws at customers I run this place to impose authority on patrons that are genuinely confused on the seating. (For my part, was told to sit in seats marked reserved, werent reserved for me...). Too bad, owners can ruin venues...
Its such an amazing theatre, and I always find myself coming back for more shows!
Great performance
Venue with unfathomable variety of events. Become a member and see everything (over 200 nights.)
A great venue for theater and community events.
I saw a fantastic performance
Great local theatre!
Great local theater. Productions run the gambit of genres.
They do not honor the NPR members discount. There was no excuse given just that they would not honor thst membership.
Good little venue. Ive seen several shows here and the seats are all pretty good.
Great little theatre with comfortable seats.
