I LOVED IT. It was my first time doing anything like this and it was exactly what I needed (especially during these times). It made me feel so confident and really bolstered my appreciation for female energy. Nia, our instructor, was so sweet, welcoming and sexy AF. The studio was really clean and I loved the colored lights. I will definitely be signing up for regular classes. (I was in a private party)

I feel reborn after starting my pole dancing classes at Butter & Filth. Every session is always so fun, liberating, empowering and carefree. Nia & Jennifer are both super talented, down to earth and encouraging instructors. My confidence feels like its on a completely different level than its ever been before. I love how body positive everyone is and you never, ever feel judged for who you are or how you look on the pole. And they play the best music for each class to get you in the mood! The community is so supportive and feels like a real sisterhood. I cant wait to continue my classes and my journey to loving all of who I am and being unapologetic about it!! Every girl in the USA needs to take their classes, you will never regret and it will truly change you for the better.

This studio is amazing, even more appealing than the aesthetically pleasing design are the instructors and studio owners. Talk to them once and its like youve known them for years. A very welcoming place to be, I highly recommend you try them out.

Took a Level 0 pole class last year, and have never regretted my decision ever since. I have been coming here for more than a year now, and I have learned and grown SO MUCH throughout this entire time. Nia and staff arent just offering pole, silk, hoop (?) and lyra classes in an aerial studio, they are allowing and encouraging their clients to be their realest selves with pole and aerial instruments as their medium of expression. Be prepared to take a good look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself: you can do this betch!Also, HUGE props to keeping it together and really honoring feedback for improvement before, during and after the COVID-19 quarantine restrictions. If Butter&Filth is a pole and aerial cult, consider me happily drinking their Kool-Aid by the gallon and asking for seconds.

A few weeks ago I took my friends here with me to celebrate my birthday and it was the most fun we’ve all had in a WHILE! Nia was our instructor and she was amazing. She made each woman there feel as if she belonged and like a goddess. The routine was super fun and sexy and we had an overall great time! I cannot wait to go back!

I drove from DC to attend a workshop here and loved every minute of it. The studio itself has carefully curated lighting, clean and smooth floors, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, and other details that make you feel ethereal while you move. Nia combines so many elements into her instruction, including philosophy, art history, biology, and physics, that you not only feel like a better dancer after you leave—you feel like a more educated and spiritual person. In particular, I like how this studio emphasizes the aesthetics of performance and how to simply look interesting and beautiful while you dance. For the first time in a long time, I felt the joy of letting my body respond organically to great songs. Whether you’re a novice or professional, everyone can benefit from attending classes here, and there’s a lot of variety. I can’t wait to come back!

Great, aesthetic studio with some of the best instructors in Richmond. Only issue is class overcrowding. Three people to a pole in the classes Ive been to, so you dont end up getting much pole time. They try their best to rotate evenly. This would be my go-to studio if class size was more limited.

I have taken clases at two other pole studios and Butter and Filth is definitely my favorite. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. They have a really clean, sleek looking design to the studio. The poles are really tall and super fun to use. You will not be bored because every class is something new. All of the instructors are awesome and the people attending classes are friendly. Taking these classes will give you a new perspective of pole dancing.

I never thought I would love a pole class this much! The environment at Butter and Filth, is pro woman, pro bodies of all kinds and pro community. It’s a place to let down your hair... and take off your pants! I didn’t realize how much a needed permission to shake my butt and take a selfie and how beautiful it is to see other women taking time to appreciate their own fierceness. Nia and Heather are exceptional teachers bringing humor and humanity to their classes and finding the patience to walk you through moves that seem impossible. Lastly the space is an absolute dreamland: spacious and bathed in vibrant pastel light, the kind of space that demands you strut around that pole and work whatcha got!
