Eh, I didnt even bother taking pictures here. I know covid has messed up many things and youve got to give some leeway for that. Understood. During this pandemic there are rules about mask wearing and whatnot like no dancing that you just have to accept and to which you must adhere. Okay. I get it. Btw, this means a bar isnt necessarily a place to go to meet people. FYI. Why this venue got a two star rating (meaning more than the one star minimum) is because the security guy with the green(???) hair was cool, he explained things like a human and not a robot. He was personable. However, I do have an issue with being somewhere for 20 minutes and not getting acknowledged. Im a Vegas boy now and even during the busiest of times that wait would not happen. Especially not to even put in a drink order. The music also wasnt the best and it made the time I spent waiting even worse.

Great place! Been going for years. Its cleaner now than its been before and can feel safe no matter who they are. The bartenders are fast and always happy to say hello and over a hug. Get on down yall!! Have fun!

This place looks grimey. Floors are sticky making it slightly uncomfortable when dancing. However, the staff was nice. Drinks were good and cheap. Music was okay. Wasn’t too packed on a Saturday. Overall, decent bar.

Good community... bad service. I often wait 15 to 20 mins at the bar (even on slow nights) just trying to get the servers attention, but it seems that of you are not a friend of the bartender, they dont want your business. I do not know thier names, but I get awful service from the short girl with a blonde weave and the big guy with the guy fiery dye job. There are too many other options in Reno... and you can actually get service at some of them....

This place is totally gross.. I wouldnt go there again if my life depended on it..

Used to love to come to five star for Thursday night karaoke. This last Thursday near the end of the night the karaoke DJ (djrickyrick was the name I think) called me up when we were leaving to let me know that I was close to be up to sing. Which is not weird. What is weird is he GRABBED THE BASE OF MY HAIR during the whole conversation. My friends were already outside and I didnt know what to until one of them came back in to get me.$10 aycd is great for going out as college students in a queer space. Typically the staff and clientelle is very friendly, but I dont want any women, straight or queer, to be creeped on when they come out to have a good time. This isnt a reflection of the business as a whole but I just wanted both the business and potential clients to be aware of this, because it was super uncomfortable to have happen by an entertainer working there.

Went during the pride crawl and it was amazing. Of all the places in Reno, they had the fastest service and one of the best DJs around.

First of all, this is a review by a straight guy. Yeah, Im always concerned about getting hit on by a gay guy, but Im probably flattering myself. Maybe they just know youre not gay or maybe gay guys are not as aggressive and blatant as straight guys hitting on women. Maybe its because Ive been there with women. As a straight person, your discomfort will diminish immediately when you notice how cool everyone is. They do have one of the most popular bartenders in town. Uh, not the place for picking up on straight women though. You may find some, maybe bi, mostly lesbian. They have two pool tables in back if you want to play with balls and a medium dance floor in front if you want to play with balls. Okay, that was uncalled for. They also have a cage. I imagine there must be some huge bird they keep in back or something.

Best gay bar in Reno. Im not sure why others are saying that the drinks are expensive because theyre not. They have several drink specials throughout the week, including all you can drink on Thursdays.I love how the bar is a community staple and you can always come here to hang out with friends, and meet people from different walks of life. From my understanding, 5 Star welcomes all people gay, straight, black, white etc. so for all the haters in the previous reviews, stop being exclusionary. This is a place to come and have fun for everyone!

Friendly barkeeps with a nice railroad flat layout with the bar on one side an comfortable couches on the other. The front of the room also serves as a stage of sorts. They have a fantastic Sunday night promotion for the Bears. Check it out!

I was there early Dec. to the 11. Got there around 9 pm and stayed till 11. The place is gay friendly but also caters to heteros which made up most of the crowd of 20. The place was a dumpy, smokeyhole. Ive from Chicago and friend said I should check it out. I did and I checked out quick.

Eclectic, but at $4.50 for Stella Artois this place has my vote

Just an OK place which must have had security issues in the past as there is a patdown to ensure your not bringing in any weapons or possibily your own booze. I am sure soon an airport type x-ray system is coming soon.

Awful. This is NOT a gay bar. Recently visited on a Saturday night about 11pm. Out front were 4 falling down drunk barely legal females. So loud you could hear them a block away. Inside were more of the same. Lots of drunks and tweakers. Crappy VERY loud music blasting. Skip it.

It used to be my favorite bar since I got to Reno, but the bartender told me that Im not allowed to play pool if Im not drinking. Really, since when you got to be an alcoholic to be allowed to play pool in a bar? I thought this place welcome every kind of people, but I guess I was wrong. Now Im very disappointed cuz I really dont like any other bar as much as I liked this one.So yeah now you all know if youre not a drinker dont go to 5 stars.

This place has some of the best owners and staff around. Always open to suggestions to improve the customers experience. Great place open late late.

Being from out of town the staff here made us feel welcome. Nick was able to tell us all the good spots and his singing is great!

They open at 5pm, but they dont get busy until 11pm, the staff is very friendly. Ask about their daily drink specials.

Cool place to get a drink at the large bar, or chill in the couches by those sweet, large sliding windows. Gets busy late night on weekends.

Five Star is one of my favorite gay bars in town. Its fun to hang out there not just on weekends but also durring the week day for happy hour, or the odd hours at night, or should I say moringin! lol The service is great, bar tenders and staff are really friendly and they just want everyone to have a good time! Defenitely stop by! ;-)
